Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

As we begin the New Year, Mars and Jupiter come together today in a powerful and dynamic opposition.

This is a high-energy aspect that ties in perfectly with the Eight of Wands.

You may have so much going on that it becomes difficult to figure out where to direct your attention. And you may have so much on your plate that you feel the need to rush as you scramble to get things accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is all about action, progress and momentum. It’s about getting things done and making things happen.

It may be as simple as ticking off all the little things on your to-do list, and it may be as significant as making great headway on an important project.

And with 2015 stretching out before you, it may be the monumental task of setting your intentions in motion in the form of New Years resolutions.

Although you may have expected to relax today (after a night of celebrations), you’re more likely to be busier than ever.

While it might feel to you like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, you could be surprised when it’s over at how much you really accomplished.

The Eight of Wands can also refer to travel. In that respect it relates to being literally and physically on the go. Are you planning a weekend getaway? Use this extra energy to make preparations for your trip.

Keep in mind though that the Mars / Jupiter transit can also be somewhat reckless. You want to stay alert and pay attention to your environment if you do end up making travel plans.

Eight of Wands

It’s time to reach for the sky and channel your thoughts toward where you wish for them to go.

The image on this card shows you have both feet planted firmly on the ground and are awash with new learning and ways to put it forth into your own world.

You stand in a bubble of your own making and are not concerned or worried about what is going on around you.

The world could shake or break but just as long as you are within your own world you feel safe and protected.

If there is anything around for you today where you feel the need to just block everything out and get on with your own thing then you have the capacity to do so.

This card shows that things can change suddenly.

There could be news coming to you and it will not make any difference to you if the news is positive or negative because you will stand firm and take everything with a pinch of salt and in your own stride.

Nothing will sway you as you have inner strength and inner knowing as to what you are going to do next.

King of Swords

ARIES: King of Swords

This month you’re likely to be thinking more about doing business and finding your place in the world than anything else.

With a line-up of planets moving through your 8th house — the area associated with joint resources and other people’s money — as well as Mars (your ruler) joining Pluto in your public sector, the focus is going to be more on career and professional achievements.

The King of Swords is all about power and authority. Success, Accomplishment. Strategy. Intelligence. You’ll have all of these things at your fingertips and should be taking advantage of them — particularly in the first two weeks of the month.

This is a time for putting your ideas out there — verbally or in writing — and communicating them to others. It’s not the time for ambivalence or uncertainty.

Look at the King in this card. He’s a bit more colorful and flamboyant than we’re using to seeing with the King of Swords. He’s usually rather stoic and somber.

But this whimsical version is just spirited enough to capture the dynamic and playful Uranus in Aries transit you’re dealing with and just dignified enough to capture the Mars in Capricorn transit you’ve got moving through your 10th house.

This King says you can have the best of both worlds. It doesn’t have to be all work and no play. And you won’t get anywhere if it’s all play and no work.

Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

Today you want to work on bringing the divergent areas of your life into harmony, courtesy of a pair of astrological aspects that are doing the same.

With Mercury in sextile to its counterpoint Jupiter today, and Venus in sextile to its counterpart Mars, the theme will be finding a comfortable medium between the opposing forces in your life.

The Eight of Wands is traditionally associated with action and movement and there is some of that going on here. But the central themes in this version are more about protection and trust, as seen in the tiny figure nestled in the Lion’s arms.

The lion appears as a guardian angel, with a fiery mane and golden-orange wings. Notice the serpent — in the form of a lemniscate or infinity symbol — that encircles the sleeping child.

Also notice the one lion’s paw and one angel’s hand that cradle her sleeping form. A blanket of stars keeps her safe and warm. The symbols of protection and safety are repeated here, as are the themes of divergent forces residing harmoniously in the same space.

In many decks, the Eight of Wands signifies energy, motion and action. And we can surmise that the figure in this card will awaken from her sleep more rested and prepared to move ahead. But her rest is an integral part of her preparation and is just as meaningful.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 10, 2014 — Eight of Spirals

Eight of Spirals

Eight of Spirals

As Venus goes into opposition to Neptune today you need to not allow yourself to act impulsively especially where your love life is concerned.

There is a fair degree of quickness and speed to this Eight of Spirals which gives the impression that if you rush into something too quickly you may end up not knowing where you stand.

Alternatively you may be looking for a way out of something and decide the best course you should take is just walk away (or run) as quickly as you can.

Sometimes you are justified in removing yourself from a situation as quickly as possible and other times you may find you need to give a reason or two for your imminent departure.

The Eight of Spirals is also a card of communication whether this be phone, email, text or face to face. It is the type of communication that comes up suddenly without warning. You may hear from someone you were not expecting to hear from.

As the Eight of Spirals shoots across the rising (or setting) sun there is the suggestion that what has been around for you the past few days may have been triggered by the recent full moon which fell on the 8th or 9th (depending on which part of the world you are in).

Eight of Wands

You may have so much on your plate today that it feels like “rush rush rush” for you as you scramble to get things accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is all about action, progress and momentum. It’s about getting things done and making things happen.

It may be as simple as ticking off all the little things on your to-do list, and it may be as significant as making great headway on an important project.

While it might feel to you like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, you could be surprised when the day is over to see how much you really accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is a high energy card and also sometimes refers to travel. In that respect it  relates to being literally and physically on the go. Are you planning a weekend getaway? Use this extra energy to make preparations for your trip.

Look at the Eight Unicorns galloping down the canyon on this card. They’re raring to go and although not all of them are moving in the same direction, they’ all appear to know exactly where they’re going.

The Moon is in Sagittarius today. Although it’s not quite full, it’s getting there and will be by the time the weekend rolls around.

Think about what it is you want to accomplish right now. The Eight of Wands encourages you to take the initiative and to get the ball rolling.

Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

You may find yourself in the midst of a whirlwind of activity today courtesy of the Eight of Wands. This card is all about action, initiative and movement — getting to point B from point A without a lot of dilly-dallying along the way.

The Eight of Wands (Rods in this deck) often also brings news from afar. It could be a letter, a phone call, a friend request or an invitation. It can also refer to someone delivering news (or you delivering news to another).

This version of the card is full of action. As usual with the Eight of Wands there’s a lot going on. We see the legendary Herla’s Hounds — phantom hounds sent to drag the souls of hapless mortals into the underground.

They surge across the countryside, even knocking down one of the 8 posts on their way. The huntsmen soaring above them are also a part of the legend: note the one turning to dust and dissolving into nothingness.

The Eight of Wands refers to swift movement and progress. It’s action, energy and motion. But the imagery in this card must also remind us to be careful and exercise some discipline as there are potential ramifications to pushing too hard or rushing too fast.

As Wands are tied to the Fire element, we automatically associate cards in this suit with expressive, dynamic and creative energy.

Eight of Wands -- Gypsy Palace tarot

Eight of Wands

It may feel like things are moving very quickly for you now and that you have to strike while the iron is hot if you want to take advantage of the opportunities that are presenting themselves.

The Eight of Wands refers to progress, mobility and rapid change, usually for the better. You could be bursting at the seams with new and fresh ideas, juggling interests or overseeing different projects that all seem to be nearing completion at the same time.

This card refers to being decisive, making the most of your time and cutting through whatever distractions stand in your way. There may be a lot going on around you — like the woman in the center of this card — but the Eight of Wands encourages you to remain focused and engaged in the task at hand.

Look at all of the swirling colors in this card. There’s a lot happening there — and certainly some distractions. But there’s also movement, creativity and energy which are hallmarks of the Eight of Wands archetype.

This is also a networking card. It relates to exchanging ideas and interacting with like-minded people. Blogging, disseminating information, and expanding social horizons are all indicated. You could receive news from afar; be preparing to embark on a spiritual journey, or planning a literal journey that takes you out of your daily routine and into uncharted territories.

ARIES: Five of Pentacles

You may start the month going through a bit of a rough patch. The Five of Pentacles is all about questioning your own values — whether that means mentally, physically, spiritually, and financially.

As Pentacles relate to physical, material and tangible concerns, you may be struggling with money and material possessions. But this is also ties into your own sense of self-worth.

You may be asking yourself “What do I have to offer and what is it worth to others?” There’s a sense of loneliness and feelings of inadequacy associated with this card.

But if you look at the images in this version, you see not one person but two. And they seem to be holding each other up — supporting one another.

This is the message behind the Five of Pentacles: it may be cold outside and you may have suffered a recent set-back or a blow to your self-esteem. But all you have to do is look around you — and be willing to reach out for help.

We can’t any of us make it through this world alone. This card is all about reminding ourselves that there is help if we are willing to ask for it, and in doing so will usually come out stronger in the end.

Ask the Tarot: Where is this Relationship Heading?

One of the most common questions that psychics, astrologers and tarot readers are asked is: ”Where is my relationship heading?” This usually comes in the early days of a new relationship, when things are still relatively undefined — but can also come later on in established relationships, after there’ve been a few bumps in the road.

There are so many nuances to this question — just as many as there are to any given relationship, but if you distill it down to its purest essence, the answer to that question boils down to three things: what person A is bringing to the table; what person B is bringing to the table, and the “table” (i.e., relationship) itself.

Ten of Pentacles

ARIES: Ten of Pentacles

This month is about building upon what you already have and making it work for you. It is an excellent time to make a career move and if you are thinking of doing so then aim high!

The road before you is smooth and even with, perhaps, more options than you think.

Look for new areas of growth that can further your advancement but may not be obvious when you first look at the options laid out in front of you.

There is a solid and familiar feel to what you are aiming for and as you move towards it your dreams and ambitions become clearer.

The 10 pentacles is beautifully depicted in this card with the path (the journey) leading up to the grand building (the destination) in a clear, smooth path.

Overlapping across the path are branches of trees bursting with new growth (new ideas).

Be open to what comes to you and your path will be smooth towards your ultimate goal.
