Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune

Today you may be looking at the ups and downs in your life and thinking about how they’ve led you to where you are today. The Wheel of Fortune is associated with fate, destiny, “karma,” life cycles and both good and bad luck.

Sometimes we blame ourselves for the down times (assuming we’ve “brought it all on ourselves”) while viewing the up times as outside of our control.

We all experience these up and down cycles — and we all try to maximize the former while minimizing the latter.

But the Wheel of Fortune — this version from the beautiful Spiral Tarot — tells us that both are necessary and that the good times wouldn’t be good without the frame of reference of the not-so-good times.

The Wheel of Fortune is tied to “luck” and you may see yours turning today as the Sun squares the North and South Nodes and moves people in and out of your life.

There are also elements of karma and fate associated with this card; yet the Wheel of Fortune refers as much to creating your own destiny — and mastering your own fate — as it does to dealing with karmic repercussions.

It’s a reminder that all we send out comes back to us in some form or another. It may not be today; it may be months, years or even lifetimes away. Remember that as one one door closes, another one opens — just as the wheel turns and the seasons change. Today’s transits speak of finding ways to voice your intentions while at the same time putting disappointments and heartaches behind you.

The Hierophant

Saturn moves into Sagittarius today, where it will remain until late 2017. This marks the onset of a period where we shift our collective focus toward pursuing knowledge, studying tradition and reflecting on Universal laws and principles.

The Hierophant card is called the “Pope” in some decks. But it’s not only about religion. It’s about carrying the wisdom of the ancients forward. as a means of gaining a greater understanding for yourself and using it to guide others.

There are many esoteric symbols in this card, along with the very prominent Sagittarius glyph. There are also symbols for the planetoid Chiron and zodiac sign Virgo. There’s a tree of life, a centaur, a solar system and a rainbow.

The Hierophant is front and center with one hand raised in the classic benediction or blessing mudra while the other holds a key. In the upper left corner is the hebrew symbol Vav, which represents the connection between earthly and spiritual matters.

This Hierophant is not only in search of deeper knowledge, he’s prepared to impart it to others.

You could be immersing yourself in your studies today or making plans to embark on a spiritual journey. You may also be called upon present your ideas to others — either formally or informally. If you find yourself having to defend your views, do it in a calm, practical manner. As Saturn moves into Sagittarius today, Mercury goes retrograde which makes it all the more important to choose your words wisely.
