The Wanderer

The Wanderer

Venus enters Sagittarius today, bringing with it the potential for a renewed love (Venus) of travel, adventure and personal expansion (Sagittarius).

The Wanderer card (the Fool, in traditional decks) fits in beautifully with this dynamic, as it relates to being open to new experiences without regard for where they may ultimately lead.

Here we see a young woman striding toward the edge of a cliff, barefoot and unburdened by material possessions. Her arms are wide open and her gait is purposeful, even knowing that the path before her is partially obscured by clouds.

There’s a waterfall on the other side and a shimmering rainbow bridge leading to it, but if you look closely you can also see the rocky terrain far below.

A fall would be treacherous but somehow you know she’s not going to fall. Her faith and her optimism and her willingness to seize the day will see her safely to the other side.

This is the essence of the Wanderer card — and Venus in Sagittarius. It’s about taking a leap of faith and being open to going wherever the moment takes you.

At the same time, Neptune turns direct today. This Neptunian energy is reflected here in the clouds that obscure the Wanderer’s path. It’s also reflected in the concept of surrender (a Neptune key-word) that is a necessary part of taking that leap of faith.

You want to think about these concepts, especially as they apply to opportunities that present themselves to you today. It’s not the time to fret about details or focus on what could possibly go wrong.

You do want to keep your wits about you, and unlike the woman in this card you do want to watch your step. But immersing yourself fully in the journey — rather than thinking too hard or focusing too much on the destination — can open up a whole new world of possibilities for you that you won’t want to miss.

World Tree

The World Tree

With Jupiter trining Uranus today it is a day to not get too dramatic and upset about things that may come your way because with this combination of planets you may find yourself going off in all different directions and lose your inner peace…. possibly in a good way.

Jupiter and Uranus are both in fire signs which means energy is high and Jupiter, the planet of luck, combined with the easy energy of the trine from Uranus may also work in your favour with coming to a conclusion that you have long been pondering the answer for.

Notice the labyrinth before the World Tree. Parts of it cannot be seen and are left to your imagination to work out and the fact it is within this image gives you something to concentrate on today and draw your thoughts back to if you find them getting out of control.

The World Tree is showing all seasons from Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter which is a bit like your moods today.

In other words be prepared for anything as it will not be subtle when it arrives and may leave you going through a plethora of mood swings.

If you find this happening be aware that you have a lot of strength to draw on as well as wisdom. You have laid out a solid life for yourself and are stronger than you think.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 13, 2014 — Ace of Bows

Ace of Bows

Ace of Bows

As Mars moves into Sagittarius today, you want to be thinking about your dreams, desires and intentions; as well as the actions you can take to turn them into a powerful reality.

The Ace of Bows (Wands in most decks) speaks of directing your energy toward your goals with purpose and intent: much the same way you’d take aim with an arrow and launch it at a distant target.

If you’ve ever done any archery, you know that you don’t just pick up an arrow and fling it haphazardly into the air. You have to pull back, focus on your objective and become one with the bow before you even shoot. Once you let go of the arrow, you’re committed to the outcome so you have to put everything you have into hitting your target.

This is the energy you want to keep in mind as you work on manifesting your goals. This card — called the “Spark of Life” here — refers to that raw, pure, unharnessed energy that is the Ace of Wands as it changes energetically from spark (idea) to flame (intention) to contact (manifestation).

The symbol for Sagittarius is the “archer” which is perfect for this card. And Mars is all about drive, initiative, energy and action: also perfect. Put them together and you have all the tools that are necessary to manifest your reality, via the Ace of Bows.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 29, 2014 — The Mirror

the Mirror

The Mirror

The Mirror is the Wildwood Tarot’s version of the Hanged Man. And like the Hanged Man, there are references of surrender, spiritual growth and sacrifice in this card.

But unlike the Hanged Man, the Mirror card is more about internal awareness than it is about external challenges. There’s less emphasis on the suspension of time and more on the process of self-discovery.

The central figure in this card is a Siren who has emerged from the depths of the sea. She holds a mirror in one hand and lifts up a glowing orb in the other. In the foreground we see a crane — messenger to the Gods — and in the distance a small island just beyond a burial at sea.

Neptune squares Venus today and trines the Sun. While the square can drive home an uncomfortable realization that things aren’t as perfect as they seem, the trine counters that awareness with acceptance and acquiescence.

There are definite surrender aspects to this card. The Mirror itself — held close to the Siren’s heart — speaks of looking within, accessing your intuition and embracing all that is reflected back to you. And the orb lifted up towards the heavens speaks of looking outside of yourself for spiritual guidance.

These are both valid endeavors, and both will ultimately move you past some of the obstacles that are hindering your progress.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 2, 2014 — Two of Arrows

Two of Arrows

Two of Arrows

Today you could be dealing with a situation at work or in your private life that seems unfair.

You may have felt personally undermined by someone, or you may be witness to an injustice that is impossible to turn your back on.

But rather than jumping to conclusions, this card encourages you to sit back and weigh each side of the situation before coming to a decision.

The Two of Swords (called Arrows in the Wildwood Tarot), is called “Injustice” in this version. It refers to the sense of unfairness that you may bear witness to, whether you’re dealing with it personally or not.

In this deck, Arrows refer to Spring and to the astrological element Air. Twos always relate to inequity, encouraging you to strike a balance, right a wrong or find a compromise.

In keeping with the more traditional meaning of this card, you may have make a decision about what to think and what to believe. If you’re forced into the role of a mediator between two friends, whose side do you choose? Perhaps both arguments have merit (which is usually the case) and you have to shut yourself off from any preconceived notions or biases in order to decide.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 25, 2014 — Eight of Vessels

Eight of Vessels

Eight of Vessels

The Eight of Cups (called Vessels in the Wildwood Tarot), is traditionally associated with feelings of disappointment and disillusionment, brought about by the realization that what you’ve worked so hard for is not going to turn out the way you’d hoped it was.

It speaks of walking away or leaving something (or someone) behind that you’ve given your all to, and resigning yourself to the understanding that it (or whom) was just not meant to be.

This version of the card focuses more on the redemptive aspects of clearing, healing and moving on. Here we see three small vessels hanging from a tree and tilted just enough to pour their contents into one larger vessel. That vessel fills up and then overflows into four more vessels, which in turn spill their contents into a spring.

A similar pattern is repeated in nature — with the waterfall in the background, the movement and ripples in the stream, and the water that flows through the rock formations in the foreground.

As the Sun conjuncts Mercury and Venus trines Saturn today, a more practical understanding of why things don’t always work out the way you wanted becomes possible.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Mar 31, 2014 — Six of Arrows

Six of Arrows

Six of Arrows

As March comes to a close it’s a good time to be thinking about where you want to be heading in the coming weeks — mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally.

The Six of Swords (called Arrows in the Wildwood Tarot), is a card of transition. Moving from one chapter in your life to another, which does require leaving something behind.

You may be moving, changing jobs, ending a relationship, or releasing some baggage that’s been holding you back. Although this card refers to change more than it does to endings, there are elements of “clearing the slate” that are a necessary part of this process.

In this version of the card, we see a lone sailor navigating his tiny craft through uncharted territories. His sailboat is fashioned in the shape of a swan, and sails effortlessly toward its new destination. He’s leaving behind the life he’s known and moving toward a new existence.

In traditional Rider Waite versions of this card, a figure is being ferried across an expanse of water, hunched over and hidden from view. But in this rendition the sailor stands at the helm himself. He’s steering his own vessel, and thus taking charge of his own destiny.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Mar 7, 2014 — Three of Arrows

Three of Arrows

Three of Arrows

The green-eyed monster known as “jealousy” may make an appearance for you today, whether you’re prepared for that or not.

In the Wildwood Tarot, this card is called the Three of Arrows. It refers to that knife in the heart feeling of being hurt, betrayed or just seething in anger over an emotional situation that you have little control over.

This may refer to a literal breakup or the loss of a friendship, or it can be that eye-opening moment when you realize that what (or whom) you’ve wanted so badly just doesn’t want you back.

The Three of Swords in general refers to feelings of sadness, loneliness, suffering and pain. In this version though the word “Jealousy” is associated with the card, adding a whole new layer.

Here we see a wooden heart hanging from a rope that’s been tied to the limb of a tree. Three arrows are piercing the heart — and drawing blood — while flames shoot out from the side.

There’s so much poignant imagery in this card as simple as it is. The heart looks old and weathered, the tree looks deprecate, the grass and brush surrounding it looks dead.
