Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of July 10, 2016 – July 16, 2016:
We start this week with the Sun sextiling Jupiter on Sunday. Jupiter is the planet associated with higher consciousness and spiritual pursuits. This transit refers to a joining of hands between two very dynamic energies which can propel you toward pursuing your goals with confidence and enthusiasm.
This transit can see you feeling good about yourself, which will draw people to you and open doors where you haven’t even knocked. It’s a relatively passive transit though so keep in mind that it’s going to be up to you to step inside.
On Monday, Mercury squares Uranus but also forms a nice grand water trine to Mars and Chiron. The square to Uranus can be challenging. It can manifest as an overwhelming need to be “right.” It can be opinionated and argumentative. If you don’t want to risk alienating everyone around you, your best bet will be to bite your tongue and keep your opinions to yourself, at least for the next day or so.
The grand trine to Mars and Chiron is much more harmonious and can offset some of that confrontational Mercury / Uranus energy. It brings elements like compassion, humility and tolerance to the mix, and combines them with the motivation (Mars) to make things happen. The water sign influence brings in the capacity for understanding others and being able to put yourself in their shoes — as well as the ability to express genuine caring and compassion for those who aren’t always so easy to love.
Venus enters Leo on Tuesday at 6:33 UTC. Venus in Leo is warm and expressive, loyal, dignified, and proud. This is an incredibly dynamic placement, with the planet associated with love, romance and beauty posited in the sign that magnifies those influences.
Venus in Leo is all about leading with your heart. It’s about learning to love others through first loving yourself and expressing your romantic sensibilities passionately and confidently. it’s also about appearances. It’s about commanding respect from others and taking center stage. It’s about showing the rest of the world what you’re made of: conducting yourself with honor, integrity and grace.
With Mercury just a few steps behind (moving into Leo itself late Wednesday night in some parts of the world and early Thursday morning in others), this is a time for expressing your feelings for others without hesitation or fear. Mercury in warm, expressive, benevolent Leo wants to impress. It wants to communicate through words and through grand and extravagant gestures.
Mars conjuncts the Moon and inconjuncts Uranus on Thursday. This Mars / Uranus portion of this aspect can be impatient, combative and contentious. The aggressive, impulsive energies associated with this inconjunct aspect may also be exacerbated by Mars’ conjunction to the Moon, as Mars is dignified in Scorpio but the Moon is debilitated there.
Either way, you want to try to curb any reckless impulses during this transit as chances are good that whatever is said or done in haste will need to be answered for later on.
The Mercury / Venus conjunction becomes exact on Saturday, at 5° Leo 45. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “An old fashioned woman and an up-to-date girl.” This symbol speaks of bringing the past and present together, with emphasis on beauty, fashion, and self-expression.
As Venus is tied to partnership and Mercury is tied to communications, this aspect represents pleasant social interactions. It represents partnership, cooperation and collaboration. This is an expressive, demonstrative combination that you can use to your advantage as it brings people together whose main objective is to get along. It’s a good time to go out of your way to make those you care about feel special and to do so in a grand or extravagant way.
That’s the good news. The not so good news is a Sun square Uranus aspect that occurs on the same day. With the Sun in sensitive, moody Cancer and Uranus in rash, impetuous Aries, fireworks can erupt, especially as the Ego (the Sun) is involved.
This aspect pits that same ego / will energy associated with the Sun against the rebellious / antagonist Uranian impulse. It can create friction, especially if you sense that someone is trying to tell you what to do or how to act. It can be hostile and defiant, so if you’re dealing with someone who’s acting like an unruly teenager, your best move is going to be to completely disengage.
