Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of May 1, 2016 – May 7, 2016:
We start the week with a Sun / Neptune sextile — in Taurus and Pisces respectively — on Sunday. This aspect can increase your sensitivity to outside influences and leave you feeling more susceptible to psychic impressions. It can be just what you needed to start your week on a mellow note — so mellow in fact that you may decide to sleep in and lounge around the house rather than rushing to prepare for a new work week.
As the Moon is also in Pisces for part of the day, you may be feeling more sensitive to your environment and more connected to your loved ones. It’s a good time to pay attention to your dreams, meditate, get in touch with your creativity and heed your inner voice.
Also on Sunday, Mercury conjuncts the asteroid Vesta while the North Node conjuncts Hygeia. Both of these are recurrent aspects, with an earlier conjunction in direct motion. This set involves both a retrograde Mercury and retrograde North Node. Mercury / Vesta may see you reviewing your attitudes about self-sufficiency, autonomy and service to others, while the Node / Hygeia conjunction emphasizes health and wellness.
As the Moon progresses through Pisces on Monday, it becomes part of a t-square involving Jupiter and Saturn (with Saturn at the focal point). This configuration is fleeting — it will last for only a few hours in the afternoon. Still it shines a spotlight on the current transiting Jupiter / Saturn square, which may temporarily see you questioning your values and doubting your own self worth.
The Moon opposite Jupiter portion of this configuration is focused on pleasure and self-indulgence. But the Moon / Saturn square can undermine your self-esteem and see you feeling that you don’t deserve it. The t-square pits these competing urges against one another and may cause you some distress.
Things get better on Tuesday when the Sun trines Jupiter, bringing with it the inspiration and enthusiasm that is needed to accomplish great things. This aspect is considered fortunate. It brings the planet that rules growth, expansion and personal evolution into harmony with the Self. It represents feeling good about yourself. Feeling upbeat, optimistic, generous and carefree. It can manifest as expecting only the best and having the Universe respond in kind.
This is a good day to transmit your intentions and expectations out into the Universe, in whatever way you see fit. Sending out resumes is a good example. Or working on a dream board. Or think of some creative ways to announce your intentions with the kind of warmth and confidence that the Sun and Jupiter posses,
On Thursday, Venus inconjuncts Mars and the Sun inconjuncts Saturn. This is a tricky pair of inconjuncts, with the Venus / Mars aspect focused on personal relationships and the Sun / Saturn aspect focused on ambition and success. In both cases adjustments need to be made, as the inconjunct refers to uneasiness and discomfort.
The Venus / Mars inconjunct encourages you to think about how much you’re giving (Venus) and how much you’re taking (Mars). Or rather how much you’re getting back in return. Hidden resentments will have to be addressed and you’ll have to figure out a way to bring these energies back into balance. Sun and Saturn in inconjunct force you to think about whether your Ego (Sun) is getting in the way of pursuing your goals (Saturn). This aspect reminds you that you can’t take shortcuts: you’ll have to leave your Ego at the door and do the work if you’re going to rise to the top.
Friday’s New Moon at 16° Taurus 41′ is part of a grand trine featuring the Sun, Moon, the North Node and Pluto. This is an earth grand trine which not only opens doors for you to achieve your goals, but lends a helping hand in the process.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “A Symbolic Battle between Swords and Torches.” It speaks of identifying our personal values and making a determination between what we perceive as good and evil, black and white, right and wrong. It encourages us to resolve our own internal struggles between what we know to be true and what we are tempted to buy into.
As Taurus is a fixed, feminine earth sign, it’s a good time to think about our value systems, the things that we hold near and dear, which as most of us know by now are not always “things.” We can [put good use to this energy by thinking about what is most meaningful for us, and what we can do to cultivate it during this time.
We end the week with a Sun / Pluto trine on Saturday. This aspect is all about harnessing your personal power and channeling it in productive / transformative ways. It’s excellent for business and financial matters since both of these planets are in Earth signs. It can also be used to make positive changes in yourself — as in how you wish to present yourself to the outer world and how you want to be perceived.
