Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Sept 18, 2016 – Sept 24, 2016:
Coming on the heels of last week’s stressful planetary activity, this week starts with one somewhat difficult aspect — a Venus / Uranus opposition — and then follow up with a few more favorable transits through the remainder of the week.
That doesn’t mean everything’s going to be hunky dory. But it does suggest opportunities for all of us to re-align ourselves with more harmonious and conciliatory energies.
The Venus / Uranus opposition — on Sunday — isn’t necessarily “bad.” But it can create erratic changes in relationships, especially those that are at risk for becoming mired in drudgery or routine. It can bring people in who rock your world, only to see them exit just as quickly as they came in. It can shake up existing relationships too, leaving you feeling like the rug has been pulled out from under your feet.
But this Venus / Uranus opposition has a helping hand in the form of a sextile to Mars, which is exact on Monday. The Venus / Mars sextile is known for bringing love and romance to the forefront. This transit is all about going with the flow and staying in sync with your loved ones. It’s good for attracting new people into your life and for collaborating rather than putting up resistance.
It reinforces the Venus / Uranus theme of emphasizing relationships (and relationship issues). But it’s a conciliatory aspect that softens some of that erratic Uranian energy, and can bring the focus back toward getting along. Keep in mind that Mars is currently out of bounds (and will be until the end of October).
If you’re dealing with ups and downs in your relationships, it’s not the time to force someone’s hand or insist on doing things your way. You’ll get much better results allowing your partner a wide berth (Venus and Uranus in harmonious aspect to Mars) and getting some space yourself.
There’s a nice Mercury / Pluto trine on Wednesday. This aspect is excellent for doing research. It’s good for digging in deep and ferreting out hidden information. It’s also good for deep, soulful meaningful conversations that get to the heart of whatever has been weighing on your mind.
This is an especially powerful transit, as Mercury is in the sign it rules and is exalted in (Virgo) and because it’s partile (exact) on Wednesday while still retrograde and then again on Friday, after it’s turned direct.
Mercury does turn direct on Thursday, after having spent the last few weeks in retrograde motion. It will take some time though (until October 7th) for it to cross its shadow point and fully leave the influences of this retrograde behind.
Also on Thursday, the Sun moves into Libra. This shifts the collective focus from self-improvement and one-on-one relationships to finding your life purpose and being of service to mankind. The Sun in Libra shifts our collective consciousness into thoughts of fairness and impartiality. It’s objective and diplomatic; able to see all sides of any argument — which is why it’s also often known as wishy-washy or indecisive.
Venus moves into Scorpio on Friday. This is the sign of Venus’ detriment, and is often misunderstood due to preconceived notions about how Venus (the planet of love, romance, affection and beauty) is supposed to behave.
There are many positive aspects with this placement, but because the dark side of Scorpio is prone to trust issues, jealousy, possessiveness and control, it can manifest as less than favorable. Still there’s more passion, depth, intensity and intimacy in this archetype than any other Venus placement, so don’t give into your fears.
Let your guard down, open your heart, and be willing to take a walk on the wild side — especially because by this time the Mercury / Pluto trine is re-activated and moving forward (with Mercury now in direct motion).
As noted before, Mercury is exalted in Virgo. In addition to the favorable aspects it’s made during the week — and the fact that it turned direct on Thursday — we end the week on Saturday with Mercury at the exact degree of its exaltation, 15° of Virgo. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “Children crowd around the orangutan cage in a zoo,” just in time for the upcoming US presidential debates.
