Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Dec 24, 2018 – Dec 30, 2018:
Happy Holidays! We start this week on Monday with a Moon — still full — in Cancer and opposing Pluto in Capricorn. The Moon is dignified in Cancer (the sign it rules) but impacted adversely by this transit which can be inordinately suspicious or defensive. As the opposition is said to force integration, this one should see you looking at ways to find a middle ground between your deepest darkest fears and your most personal feelings and emotions.
As a result, it can manifest as a clearer understanding of the workings of your own psyche. It can bring forth the most penetrating insights with astounding accuracy and perspective. But you want to make sure those insights are worth sharing. The potential for someone to read too much between the lines and ascribe some sinister meaning to them is also strong.
Mercury squares Neptune on Tuesday. As natural rulers of opposing signs, these two planets in such a tense aspect can be problematic. Although Neptune is dignified in Pisces, Mercury is debilitated in Sagittarius and the square between them can manifest as confusion, uncertainty, suspicion and doubt.
It’s not the best time to sign contracts or lay down any concrete plans. It’s best used for tapping into our creative potential. For dreaming, visualizing and conceptualizing. Use this time to get in touch with your spirituality or work on creating something inspiring during this time, and save the nuts and bolts (left brain) decisions for another day.
Wednesday’s Moon in Leo can warms things up, with a trine to Mercury and Jupiter early in the day and a trine to Uranus later on. With this transit you may want to spend time with those who make you feel good about yourself, rather than those who drag you down. The Moon in Leo is dignified, regal and proud, with a strong emphasis on benevolence and generosity.
As Leo is the sign associated with creativity, self-expression, purpose and will, this Moon is great for putting yourself out there and showing the rest of the world what you’re made of.
On Thursday, Venus conjuncts the asteroid Ceres at 18° Scorpio. Venus is in detriment in Scorpio, but at this degree it’s located in the Pisces dwad, where Venus is exalted. This archetype is naturally sensitive, intuitive, compassionate and loving.
The conjunction to Ceres increases this energy and brings a desire to care for and nurture others. It’s connected with the earth, with sustenance, with nourishment and with a love of animals. This transit makes for a peaceful, comfortable and beautiful transition to Friday’s more passionate Venus and Mars transits.
First Venus sextiles Pluto (on Friday), and Mars trines the North Node. The sextile to Pluto brings out the urge to merge in people, so don’t be surprised if a partner or love interest starts trying to get frisky with you. It’s an alluring, seductive aspect that is known for its sex appeal and rarely fails to deliver.
The Moon (in Virgo) joins in and sextiles Venus while trining Pluto; this adds romance, fantasy, imagination and illusion to the mix, so don’t be afraid to take advantage of the energy and spice up your love life.
Mars trine the North Node automatically sextiles the South Node, as the lunar nodes are always in direct opposition to one another. This aspect is all about taking an active role in group Interactions and discussions. It’s about cooperation and collaboration. You don’t want to lead and you don’t want to follow: remember that there needs to be a good balance between give and take with this transit.
Mars / Node transits can bring new people into the fold. People who will spur you on to take risks and to let go of your fears. Alternately it may be you giving the pep talks and helping others to reach their full potential. But don’t try to force your views on others or you could wind up alienating them.
Mars moves on to conjunct Chiron at 28 Pisces on Saturday. This is a recurrence of an earlier conjunction between these two (also in Pisces) and will be the last one in this sign. This is the quintessential “gentle warrior” aspect. It can manifest as a desire to stand up for those who are unable to stand up for themselves. it can also make it easier for us to see and acknowledge other people’s points of view.
This is reinforced by the fact that they are moving through the final degrees of Pisces, the sign associated with empathy, compassion, self-sacrifice and altruism. This aspect strives to honor and embrace interpersonal differences and seeks to gain a better understanding of them.
