Two of Feathers

ARIES: Two of Feathers

This month may see you feeling torn between two competing interests or desires and at a loss as to which one one you really want to follow.

You start the month with an opposition between Mars (your ruler) and Jupiter, which are moving through your 11th (social) and 5th (personal) houses.

The Mars transit has you thinking about where you fit in in the world and about the contributions you’ve made. The Jupiter transit is more personal: it’s more about creativity and self-expression.

As difficult as it is to balance these dual desires, you may find yourself at an impasse. It’s hard to feed one set of urges without feeling like you’re neglecting the other.

You may need to take the time to reflect, much like the Heron in this card.

Here we see him gazing down at his reflection in a tranquil pool. A crescent moon shines in the night sky, illuminating the pair of feathers that are crisscrossed on the water’s surface.

The Heron is this deck’s version of the Two of Swords. As this card often refers to inaction and immobility, you might take a page from the Heron’s book and use that inertia to reflect on your options before you make a move.

Aries is usually more about “act first and think later.” But this month you might want to hold back and weigh your options instead. In doing so you may just be able to find a way to satisfy both sets of urges.

King of Swords

ARIES: King of Swords

This month you’re likely to be thinking more about doing business and finding your place in the world than anything else.

With a line-up of planets moving through your 8th house — the area associated with joint resources and other people’s money — as well as Mars (your ruler) joining Pluto in your public sector, the focus is going to be more on career and professional achievements.

The King of Swords is all about power and authority. Success, Accomplishment. Strategy. Intelligence. You’ll have all of these things at your fingertips and should be taking advantage of them — particularly in the first two weeks of the month.

This is a time for putting your ideas out there — verbally or in writing — and communicating them to others. It’s not the time for ambivalence or uncertainty.

Look at the King in this card. He’s a bit more colorful and flamboyant than we’re using to seeing with the King of Swords. He’s usually rather stoic and somber.

But this whimsical version is just spirited enough to capture the dynamic and playful Uranus in Aries transit you’re dealing with and just dignified enough to capture the Mars in Capricorn transit you’ve got moving through your 10th house.

This King says you can have the best of both worlds. It doesn’t have to be all work and no play. And you won’t get anywhere if it’s all play and no work.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Sept 22, 2014 — Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

As we roll into the equinox today and the sun moves into Libra there is a sense that change is in the air.

Adding weight to this change is Pluto turning direct today and this means force although perhaps it is not the type of force you have in mind.

This version of the Queen of Swords is subtle. It is all about subtlety and aligning your thoughts, emotions and ideas into one clear intention and setting it lose upon the winds of change.

The colours in this card are all about spirituality so there is no brute force needed to attain your goals. It is more about relaxing and “listening” to that quiet place within yourself and then allowing this to flow through you as a message to the Universe in what you want next.

This type of action can be stronger than a full on assault to what you are wishing for as it takes you away from the “doing” and action mode and more into the feeling and emotional mode that you so often need to accomplish your goals. Add the power that Pluto lends to this and you have a very strong base on which to launch your intentions.

This Queen stands in a spiritual dimension. She is surrounded by messages so expect communication to play a large part of your day.

Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

Decisions that you make today will require you to use intellect and logic rather than emotions and intuition.

The Queen of Swords signals a need for discipline. Whether you’re acting in this capacity or dealing with someone who embodies these qualities — like authority, self-reliance and impartiality — today you will need to rise to the occasion.

The Queen of Swords in most decks can be rather cold and austere. She can be critical and judgmental, detached from her emotions and unwilling to compromise her convictions. But this version emphasizes wisdom and maturity.

Notice the silver hair and tattered robes. She’s not here to impress anybody. She knows who she is and is comfortable in her own skin. She doesn’t wield her sword like a  weapon; she caresses it comfortably, just as her bare feet keep her grounded and rooted to the earth.

She may be a woman in your life: if so consider that you can count on her to tell you the truth. She’s got high standards and impeccable ethics, which she didn’t acquire by marching to the beat of anyone else’s drum.

Perhaps this is someone whose courage and strength you admire: an older woman, a widow often, someone who has weathered her share of disappointments and still holds her head high.

Queen of Swords

How often have you been guilty of opening your mouth and saying the first thing that comes to mind, undaunted by the potential for repercussions?

This isn’t an entirely inadmirable quality: after all, you do have much wisdom to impart. But the Queen of Swords appears to you today as a harbinger, heralding a better approach toward meeting your objectives.

It’s a call for you to listen, use your head, think strategically, and make sure that what you say doesn’t get drowned out by all the static reverberating around you.

Look at the imagery in this card. The Queen of Swords is barely visible, half-hidden behind the ravens that are perched on barren branches. Only her eye, peering through the raven’s wing, is clear.

The ravens in this card — Norse mythology’s Huginn and Muninn — are shamanic shape-shifters. They represent Thought (Huginn) and Memory (Muninn) that send Odin to a trance-like state.

An interesting side-note (or synchronicity as this card was pulled without looking at astrological correlations) is Mercury’s conjunction to Algol today. Algol is an eclipsing binary, called the “blinking demon” by some. The image in this card — and the conjunction to Mercury which Jodie Forrest so eloquently referenced above is uncanny.

ARIES: Queen of Wands

You may look calm and peaceful on the outside as if you hold the secret to the pyramids within you and could endure anything.

But just look at those flames flickering at the end of each wing… almost as if you are ready to “take off” or launch into a blazing mood which comes from nowhere.

This is a time to sit back and weigh up your options without the distraction of others and what they think, say or do.

Keep your own counsel and act accordingly with what is right for you. You have your eye on the outcome and know how to achieve it.

Notice how the bird in this card keeps her eye on the dragonfly… she is not about to let anything get in her way or dissuade her from the course she has chosen.

You have the energy within you to make your dreams come true… wish wisely and don’t waste your time and energy on the mundane.

Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

You may have to make a decision today that is based on logic and principle rather than intuition.

The Queen of Swords is all about cutting through the confusion and uncertainty that separates wants from needs. It may be a matter of putting something you’ve wanted to rest — in the spirit of accepting that it’s just not good for you.

Or it could be as simple as speaking the truth, knowing that you’d only be hurting yourself otherwise.

In this deck we see a dark and somewhat sinister looking Queen. She stands before a marble throne, her loyal hand-maidens at her sides.

Her surroundings are minimal — aside from the throne we see only a gold crown that is painted on the wall. She doesn’t need to wear a crown: everyone know’s she’s Queen.

This Queen is pale, stoic and quite beautiful — perhaps dangerously beautiful. Look at the size of her sword! As swords stand for ideas, intellect and mental acuity, we can surmise that she’s highly intelligent.

She doesn’t mince words. When she speaks she chooses her words wisely and they may be biting. But she’s also fair, impartial and objective.

May 2013 Tarot Scopes featuring the Mary-El Tarot

ARIES: 7 of Disks

This month your values are likely to be tested.

You may be presented with several different opportunities — none of which are ideal, and most of which require you to make sacrifices you’re not prepared to make.

A “get rich quick” scheme or opportunity that seems too good to be true are just two examples.

If you look at the imagery in this card, you can see that both paths lead to the same point on the horizon.

One requires you to carry a heavier load, but the riches at the end are more plentiful. The other path is lighter, but leads to a less bountiful outcome.

You’ll have to keep your eye on the prize — and remember that all that glitters is not gold — if you want to navigate this next chapter toward the best possible conclusion.

Don’t be tempted by detours or shortcuts: the end result depends on both your willingness to stay on track and your refusal to compromise your principles.

Ten of Pentacles

ARIES: Ten of Pentacles

This month is about building upon what you already have and making it work for you. It is an excellent time to make a career move and if you are thinking of doing so then aim high!

The road before you is smooth and even with, perhaps, more options than you think.

Look for new areas of growth that can further your advancement but may not be obvious when you first look at the options laid out in front of you.

There is a solid and familiar feel to what you are aiming for and as you move towards it your dreams and ambitions become clearer.

The 10 pentacles is beautifully depicted in this card with the path (the journey) leading up to the grand building (the destination) in a clear, smooth path.

Overlapping across the path are branches of trees bursting with new growth (new ideas).

Be open to what comes to you and your path will be smooth towards your ultimate goal.
