Weekly Astro Forecast — Dec 20 – Dec 26, 2015

Forecast

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Astrology Forecast for the week of Dec 20 – Dec 26, 2015:

We start the week with an Aries Moon opposing Mars and conjuncting Uranus on Sunday. This pulls the Mars / Uranus opposition (which was exact on the 11th but still in very tight aspect) back together again — just in time for the mad rush of last minute holiday shopping. Thinking of venturing out into the mayhem? Keep in mind the true meaning of the season and embrace your own version of the holiday spirit. Make “Let There be Peace on Earth” be your mantra.

The Mars / Uranus opposition can manifest as irritability, impatience and irrational anger. Take the “I” out of this equation and make sure that you’re not contributing to any of it. On the upside this aspect can get you thinking outside the box and marching to the beat of your own unique drum. It can be exciting and rebellious. And if can be positively ingenious. This aspect may be just what’s needed  for coming up with your own unique holiday gift ideas and making magic happen for someone close to you.

Mercury joins in and squares Uranus on Monday. You may find that people are more argumentative than usual or so invested in being right that they don’t bother with evidence or logic. You might have to ask yourself whether it’s worth it to engage someone who doesn’t want to hear what you have to say. It may be best to just them rant rather than trying to poke holes in their theories.

This aspect is very tangential and distractible too. It can make it hard to think, to fall asleep or to complete tasks that require you to focus. You may find yourself being pulled in several different directions mentally — and the good news is that allowing it to happen can bring in flashes of genius and insight that wouldn’t have been available to you otherwise.

Mercury also sextiles Chiron on Monday. This aspect can not only soften some of Uranus square’s belligerence, it can make it easier for you to convey your views to those who may be resistant to them at first. It eases the transition between dissent and acceptance, making it not only okay to disagree but opening up the pathways toward acceptance and understanding.

The Sun moves into Capricorn on Tuesday, with marks the Winter Solstice for those in the Northern Hemisphere. From an astronomical perspective, this is the time when the Sun reaches its southernmost declination and manifests as the shortest day and the longest night of the year. Astrologically though, it represents the Sun (ego, will, Self, etc) entering the sign of the Sea Goat, the archetype known for its ability to rise from the bottom of the deepest sea to the top of the highest mountain.

As we tie up the last few days of the year, we may be all thinking “thank God this one is almost over” and making plans to do more, better and bigger next year. That’s the Sun in Capricorn.

Thursday’s Venus / Jupiter sextile is one of the most peaceful and pleasant aspects we could hope for. And while Venus and Jupiter are both debilitated by sign, the sextile brings them to a consensus and begs the question “why can’t we just all get along?” It brings the two benefic planets together to smooth over disappointments and hurt feelings and make everyone feel included.

It’s a sweet, sensitive, gentle, lovely transit that can throw you into sugar overload. But it’s also perfect for those celebrating Christmas as it falls on Christmas Eve.

The following morning (on Friday),  we also have a Full Moon. This month’s Full Moon — appropriately called the Full Cold Moon in Native American traditions — is at 3° Cancer 19′. The Sabian symbol for this degree is: “ A Cat Arguing with a Mouse.” This symbol is pretty self explanatory, but keep in mind anyway as you sit down for your holiday dinner with loved ones.

Also on Friday. Mercury joins in and forms a trine to Jupiter. Here we have two natural polarities — the natural rulers of the 3rd and 9th houses — joined together in harmony. We have Mercury — the planet associated with communications and ideas — trining Jupiter — the planet associated with benevolence, good will and generosity.

Among many other things, this transit is good for opening your heart to those you love and expressing appreciation and gratitude for all that you have. It’s good for coming together with others and celebrating your allegiances while honoring and accepting your differences. It’s a time for feeling inspired and optimistic about the future.

Uranus goes direct in the early morning hours on Saturday (late night Friday in some parts of the world). This can bring those nagging rebellious urges that have been bubbling beneath the surface for the last 5 months out into the open. Haven’t we seen enough of those in recent days you ask? Well hold onto your hats.

We can always satisfy those urges through more productive Uranian impulses. Like being inventive, embracing our collective differences and motivating ourselves and others toward positive change. But be prepared for those who refuse to take the high road and instigate chaos and destruction just because they can.

Saturday’s Venus sextile the Nodes can bring people into your life who want nothing but the best for you. Hold onto them and cherish their presence in your life. It can heighten your awareness of the beauty and grace that surround you even in the midst of turbulent times. This is a good image to hold onto (and to strive toward) as we wind ourselves down toward the end of another year.

That’s it for this week, see you next Sunday!
