Weekly Astro Forecast — Jan 17 – Jan 23, 2016

Forecast

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Astro Forecast for the week of Jan 17, 2016 – Jan 23, 2016:

This week starts with a Void of Course Aries Moon on Sunday, which moves into Taurus in the early morning hours. It opposes Mars and sextiles Neptune late in the afternoon. The opposition to Mars can be temperamental, but because it’s in Taurus and is so closely sextile to Neptune, this should be a relatively mellow day. It’s a good day to lounge around the house, listening to music, baking, decorating, and — depending on where in the world you are located — landscaping and gardening. These are all Taurus Moon activities, with the idea of comfort, luxury, and getting in touch with nature and the earth being the corresponding theme.

On Monday Mars trines Neptune and Venus squares Jupiter. This is a very creative pairing that can see you exploring your artistic or musical sensibilities. You may also find that your intuition and psychic perceptions are off the charts. The Mars / Neptune trine can see you tuned into the music of the spheres like never before. This aspect reminds you that you are one with the Universe and everyone in it. It’s creative, compassionate and benevolent. It can inspire you to put your own needs aside and to become a more better person.

The Venus / Jupiter square can see you going above and beyond the call of duty where friends and loved ones are concerned. It’s an expansive, indulgent energy that can translate to overdoing it, as in overindulging or overextending yourself. You may also overestimate your ability to lend a helping hand. So take a moment to look at promises you’ve already made before you start offering your services to others.

Mercury sextiles Chiron and Venus squares the Nodes on Tuesday. The Mercury / Chiron aspect can soften whatever messages you need to deliver and color it with empathy and compassion. It can make it easier for you to convey your views to those who may be resistant to them at first. It eases the transition between dissent and acceptance, making it not only okay to disagree but opening up the pathways toward acceptance and understanding.

The Venus aspect is a little tricker. It’s at what’s known in classical astrology as “at the bendings.” This is what a planet in exact square to the North and South Nodes is called, and refers to a period of crisis with emphasis on the concept of fate. As Venus represents romance and relationships (among other things, such as money, personal values and beauty / aesthetics) this can translate as problems identifying with these areas.

It can also manifest as feeling backed into a corner in relationship or being forced to choose between love and something (or someone) else. Feeling like it’s time to update your wardrobe, hair, fashion sense or psychical appearance. Being dissatisfied with what you have going in there areas, with the understanding that you need to make changes. It’s not the time to do a complete overhaul however. Remember that Mercury is retrograde and any decisions that you make during this time are unlikely to stick.

The Sun moves into Aquarius on Wednesday and Mercury squares Uranus. The Sun (ego, will, Self, etc.) moving into Aquarius — the sign associated with the Water Bearer, known for pouring wisdom, progress and humanitarian ideals into the collective unconscious — inspires us to start marching to the beat of our own drums, to think outside the box and to take the roads less travelled.

The Sun in Aquarius represents a time when the Ego is introduced into the collective and we start seeing ourselves as part of something bigger — bigger than our homes, families and cities. Bigger than our states and countries. We see ourselves as unique individuals — a tiny and potentially insignificant microcosm — in a much larger and more significant macrocosm, known as humanity.

The Mercury Uranus square can be challenging. It can manifest as an overwhelming need to be “right.” It can be opinionated and argumentative. If you don’t want to risk alienating everyone around you, your best bet will be to bite your tongue and keep your opinions to yourself, at least for the next day or so.

Thursday’s Gemini Moon squares Jupiter and then opposes Venus. This is a lively, playful, enthusiastic combination that may have you feeling like taking time off work and doing something fun instead. Can take time away from work? You may still feel like livening things up around the office and turning what ordinarily amounts to drudgery into something a little more creative. Be careful not to overdo it though, these aspects can be loads of fun but are generally lacking in discipline and restraint.

On Friday, Mercury conjuncts Pluto. This transit can increase your desire for privacy and your need to play things closer to the vest. One positive aspect of this transit — among many — is the urge to get to the bottom of things, leaving no stone unturned. Mercury in Pluto (natally) is said to be a natural psychologist. It combines the influences of the planet that rules thoughts, ideas, communications, etc. with the sign tied to depth, passion. mystery and the unknown. Put them together and you have a powerhouse of insight into motivations and agendas — yours and everyone else’s.

You do want to keep your suspicions in check though. This transit can bring trust issues to the forefront and can see you reading into things that are just not there. It can be probing, hypervigilant or even intrusive. And it can manifest as outright paranoia. If you find yourself questioning what others are telling you or assuming that there’s more than meets the eye in every scenario, ask yourself what evidence you have and whether it might be best to keep some things to yourself.

Venus moves into Capricorn on Saturday. This archetype understands the value of hard work, dedication and discipline. It’s also responsible and reliable — with money, in your career, in your relationships with loved ones, and especially when it comes to matters of the heart. It represents a time for getting serious about your relationships — or lack thereof. And it’s a time for taking a more practical approach to relationships, whether that means emphasizing head over heart or ticking off a checklist to make sure your partner meets your qualifications.

Venus in Capricorn is all about maturity, wisdom and perseverance. It’s also very conservative. You’re not likely to jump into something impulsively during this time, nor are you going to end something prematurely. You’re more apt to stick things out — even if the going gets rough — and to hold off on getting involved in the first place. But Venus in Capricorn is known for cutting to the chase, simplifying things and creating clarity. In this respect, it’s an excellent time for for taking stock of your relationships, your career and your finances.
