Forecast

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Forecast for the week of Aug 17, 2020 – Aug 23, 2020:

We start this week with Mercury trining Mars and conjuncting the Sun on Monday. The trine to Mars is is great for asserting yourself with others clearing away any confusion or uncertainty. It’s good for making plans — especially anything tied to higher-mind goals and aspirations. Are you thinking about taking a course or going back to school? This aspect is perfect for offering your intentions up to the Universe and allowing them to take flight.

The conjunction with the Sun is a superior conjunction (as Mercury is currently in direct motion). It’s generally a very positive aspect, especially for things like interacting and communicating with others, sharing ideas, and gathering information, But because it’s so close to the Sun that it’s hidden from view (a condition known as “combust”) you want to be aware that not everything that pops into your head during this time is worth acting on.

On Tuesday, Venus sextiles Uranus and Mercury sextiles the North Node. This set of transits works very well for any sort of social interaction or sharing ideas with others. The Venus / Uranus aspect can also bring people in who are going to shake up your world (in a good way. Since the sextile is all about collaboration and cooperation this is a good time to reach out and offer someone a helping hand.

The Mercury / Node aspect is good rallying friends together to share ideas and interests. It’s about joining together with like minded people in whatever capacity. This is especially good for group-related events — conferences, workshops, board meetings, etc. — whether in person or online as in a community forum.

There’s a New Moon at 26° Leo on Wednesday. As New Moons are associated with new beginnings, this one brings opportunities to reinvent ourselves.

Leo is associated with warmth, vitality, personality and creative self-expression, the emphasis is on reveling in the moment, embracing life to the fullest, and setting your worries aside long enough to bask in the light of the day. The Leo Moon is regal, dignified and proud. It’s a warm, creative, dynamic placement, reinforced by its conjunction to the Sun.

The New Moon in Leo represents a time for feeling good about yourself and for expressing creative drives. It’s good for strutting your stuff and letting your love light shine.

Also on Wednesday, the Sun sexties the North Node, thus automatically trining the South Node (since the North and South Nodes are always in direct opposition). This aspect is all about coming to terms with who you are and being more than ok with it. It’s about bringing the lessons of the past (South Node) into harmony with where you are today.

As this is a  Fire sign trine it may have more to do with feelings and emotions than anything else. It can relate to gaining a better understanding of the inner workings of your own psyche (Scorpio Sun) and healing old wounds and hurts (Cancer Node). As the Nodes are said to be karmic in nature you can make great strides toward clearing up karmic debts during this time.

Mercury moves into Virgo on Thursday, bringing the number of planets in their own signs to five. We have Mercury in Virgo, the Sun in Leo, Mars in Aries, Saturn in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces. In addition to being at home in Virgo, Mercury is also exalted there.  It’s detail oriented and analytical, and is good for getting down to the nitty gritty and figuring out ways to make things better.

It’s a neutral planet (Mercury) in a feminine sign (Virgo). There’s emphasis on adaptability and flexibility,  but you want to be careful not to scrutinize everything to death or to be too focused on what’s wrong with every picture. This signature is great for refining, fine-tuning and perfecting whatever needs a little sprucing up.

The Sun leaves Leo behind and joins Mercury in Virgo on Saturday. Thus begins the last month of the Summer for those in the Northern hemisphere and the last month of Winter for those in the Southern hemisphere.

The Sun moving through Virgo shifts the focus from creativity, self-expression and play to duty, diligence and work. It’s a good time to inventory and think about changes you want to make. Focus on changes to your diet and health, your relationships with colleagues and service to others are all featured during this time.

Sunday’s Libra Moon is in mutual reception with Venus. This is a gracious and benevolent combination which is generally good for ironing out differences and finding a common ground,  But it’s also part of a tense t-square configuration involving Mars (which is opposite that Moon) and Jupiter / Saturn / Pluto, which is at the apex. It’s not going to be the time to try to push your views on others. Try to stay in the Venus / Moon zone during this time an safe the political debates for another day.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!
