Weekly Astrology Forecast — Dec 14, 2020 – Dec 20, 2020

Forecast

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Forecast for the week of Dec 14, 2020 – Dec 20, 2020:

This week we have four planets (and an asteroid) changing signs, one planet changing direction and a New Moon total solar eclipse. Starting on Monday, Venus sextiles Jupiter and Mercury conjuncts the Moon’s South Node.

The Venus / Jupiter aspect one of the most peaceful and pleasant aspects we could hope for. It’s a sweet, sensitive, gentle transit that can throw you into sugar overload. But it’s also conciliatory. it brings these two planets — known as the lesser and greater benefics — to a consensus. It can go a long ways toward smoothing over disappointments and hurt feelings, making everyone feel included.

Mercury conjuncting the South Node (and thus automatically opposing the North Node) can manifest as a chance encounter that turns out to be anything but in the end. Whether it’s a past-life connection or just someone you meet unexpectedly that turns into a significant connection, you want to pay attention.

You want to be be mindful of what you say and how you say it. Mercury represents communications and the Nodes are said to be karmic in nature. So pay attention to what you put out there as it could have long term repercussions.

Also on Monday, we have a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 23° Sag 08. As New Moons always represent fresh starts, new beginnings and opportunities to start anew, this one — in Sagittarius — presents opportunities for personal growth and spiritual awareness.

In general, the Moon in Sagittarius is expansive and spirited, with a strong focus on personal and spiritual evolution. It inspires us to think about travel, adventure, spirituality, philosophy and higher mind pursuits. It takes us out of our comfort zones and gets us thinking about how the other half lives.

This eclipse creates a shift in consciousness related to these areas as well as the house it falls in your natal chart. Its effects can last up to six months, but will be strongest over the next two weeks.

The Solar Eclipse brings to light what’s been obscured by our emotions — our innermost longings and desires — as opposed to what might be best for us. It causes us to see things in a new light, which brings clarity to even our most heart-wrenching decisions.

This can be a wakeup call if you’ve been walking around in a daze, but will be a welcome one in the long-run. Eclipses tend to force you to “get clear” about your situation and make the necessary changes, even if those changes are ones you’ve been dreading in the past. They can also bring past emotional issues to light, forcing you to confront them head on.

On Tuesday Venus sextiles Saturn as it prepares to leave Scorpio and move into Sagittarius. At this point they’re at 29° Scorpio and Capricorn (respectively). The 29th degree of any sign is called an anaretic degree and is said to be fated.

Venus will remain in Sagittarius until January 8, 2021. As Venus is tied to “love” and Sagittarius likes to see the world as its playground, this is a good time to think about expanding your horizons in the romance department. Whether this is with a love interest or all by yourself (in your quest to find love), now is the time to look past your immediate environment and explore what else is out there.

If you’re in an established relationship, this is a good time to think about booking a romantic cruise or taking a course together. If you’re single you might think about what you can do to round out your life experiences, in anticipation of your next great love. Overall the Venus in Sagittarius transit is good for travel, spiritual or philosophical pursuits or going off on a wild adventure. When it comes to ticking things off on your bucket list, Venus in Sagittarius says “the sky’s the limit.”

At the same time Mercury trines Mars. This transit is great for asserting yourself with others clearing away any confusion or uncertainty. It’s good for making plans — especially anything tied to higher-mind goals and aspirations.

Are you thinking about taking a trip abroad? Now this the time to look into airfares and excursions. Or maybe you are thinking about taking a course or going back to school. This aspect is perfect for offering your intentions up to the Universe and allowing them to take flight.

Also on Tuesday, Chiron goes stationary direct, after spending the last five months in retrograde motion. This marks the onset of a period where you use what you’ve learned through processing your own perceived failures and disappointments to guide others along similar paths. This can be accomplished on a large or small scale, but will come to you naturally through your own capacity for understanding, compassion and forgiveness.

Chiron will remain in direct motion for another seven months, moving through Aries (and then retrograding again next July). You can use this cycle to work on your own soul growth as you learn from your mistakes and heal yourself through the process of healing others.

Saturn leaves Capricorn behind — for the last time (until 2047) and moves into Aquarius on Thursday. It briefly entered Aquarius earlier this year (between late March and early July) before it retrograded back into Capricorn. But now that it’s moving forward again, it will remain in Aquarius until March of 2023.

Saturn’s ingress into Aquarius signals a time of moving past outdated rules and regulations. It’s going to mark the onset of a period of time where we’re hopefully more open to seeing beyond our own backyards. As Aquarius is the sign associated with humanity at large, it’s going to be a time for seeing how we’re all connected to each other and how we can all commit to making changes for the greater good.

Saturn is leaving one sign it rules (Capricorn) and moving into the sign it co-rules (Aquarius — along with Uranus) to get us thinking more radically and progressively about making the world a better place for all.

On Saturday, Jupiter joins Saturn (and the Moon) in Aquarius, where it will remain until this time next year (apart from a brief foray into Pisces between May and July). Jupiter takes 11+ years to go around the Sun one time, and was last in Aquarius in January of 2010.

Jupiter in Aquarius has the potential for going where no man (or woman) has gone before. It places the planet associated with freedom, expansion, benevolence and luck in the sign associated with progress, innovation and ingenuity. Here we have the opportunity to take part in something bigger than ourselves, and to make strides toward our own personal evolution.

Venus also trines Chiron on Saturday. This transit can lead you to a greater awareness of your own capacity for giving and for being able to put yourself in other people’s shoes. This is a charitable aspect that compels you to reach into the very depths of your soul — where compassion, forgiveness and understanding all reside — and bring forth that which is within you in order to pass it onto others.

On Sunday, Mercury conjuncts the Sun as they both prepare to leave Sagittarius and move into Capricorn. They are both at the 29th degree of Sagittarius, also known as an anaretic degree, which is said to be fated. The conjunction to the Sun is also known as combust, or in this case as an exact conjunction, “cazimi’ (in the heart of the Sun).

Its influence is said to be heightened and energized, but because Mercury is essentially “hidden” by the Sun, this aspect can be somewhat problematic. The main thing to watch for is information that is hidden or lacking which can result in making ill-informed decisions.

Mercury moves into Capricorn (with the Sun following suit the next morning). It will remain in Capricorn until the January 8, 2021. This archetype sets the stage for a more disciplined and practical ideas. This archetype is excellent for focusing your thoughts and getting clarity and perspective. It’s a good time to take stock of your environment and figure out what you needs to be eliminated. Nothing understands the concept of simplifying better than Mercury in Capricorn, so if you’ve been meaning to clear away the dead wood in your life, now is the time to do it.

It’s not the time to let yourself turn into Ebenezer Scrooge though. Mercury in Capricorn is known for being overly cynical and pessimistic. It can focus too much on what’s wrong with this picture and see the glass as perpetually half-full. But because it’s also capable to cutting through the BS and getting to the heart of the matter, you can take advantage of this transit by seeing it as a time to finally “get real.”
