Weekly Astro Forecast — July 31, 2016 – August 6, 2016

Forecast

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of July 31, 2016 – August 6, 2016:

We start this week on Sunday, with Mars at the last degree of Scorpio as it prepares to move back into Sagittarius, where it went retrograde this past April. The 29th degree is referred to as an “anaretic degree,” which is said to be fated. As Mars co-rules Scorpio (along with Pluto) it’s said to be dignified there, and is made all the more powerful by its placement in Scorpio’s final degree.

This is a good time to look back over all you’ve accomplished over the last 5 months, particularly with respect to emotional and psychological responses. Due to the retrograde, Mars has been moving back and forth between Scorpio and Sagittarius since February, prompting us to bridge the gap between our inner and outer worlds.

The shift from an interest in hidden, esoteric and occult (Scorpio) matters to higher mind pursuits (Sagittarius) — and then back again, twice — has given us all lots to think about.

On Monday, the Sun trines Saturn and Venus trines Uranus. The Sun / Saturn trine is ambitious and goal oriented, meaning you can get a lot accomplished in your career. The Venus / Uranus trine bring san ease of expression and cooperation to the forefront, particularly in social settings. With Venus in Leo and Uranus in Aries, the emphasis is on originality and individuality. This is a progressive, forward-thinking, trend-setting aspect that encourages creative self-expression.

But Venus is also inconjunct to Chiron on Monday and this aspect is a bit more tense. It can put a strain on your love life by forcing you to look at unhealthy relationship patterns, such as mistaking compassion for love or pity for kindness. This aspect underscores the potential for missing (or misreading) important social cues. As with all inconjunct aspects, the key to rebalancing this energy is adjusting your own perceptions and adapting your own approach.

Mars moves into Sagittarius on Tuesday, and because it’s no longer retrograde, it won’t be backing out again — like it did last May. Mars in Sagittarius is up for almost anything. It’s adventurous and spontaneous, and ready to jump in and try something new at a moment’s notice.

This is a time for being passionate about spiritual, philosophical and intellectual pursuits. It’s a time for getting out of autopilot and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. Travel, educational pursuits, and anything related to exploring higher mind goals are all highlighted during this time.

Also on Tuesday, we have a New Moon at 11 ° Leo 51. As New Moons always represent new beginnings and opportunities to start new, this one — in Leo — brings opportunities to reinvent yourself. it’s a warm, creative, dynamic placement, especially as Venus is also in Leo at this time.

The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “Children on a swing in a huge oak tree.” This symbol speaks of the importance of being in the moment and celebrating play. It also reminds us of our history and our heritage. This who have come before us and whose protective arms still envelop us.

The Sun forms an inconjunct to Neptune on Wednesday. This aspect indicates a need to remedy imbalances between the desire for self-actualization (the Sun) and the urge for self-sacrifice (Chiron).

It can manifest as an existential crisis, especially as the Sun is dignified in its own sign as is Neptune in Pisces. But Neptune is retrograde and this placement — Neptune in Pisces retrograde and inconjunct the Sun is arguably most self-deprecating and self-sacrificing archetype imaginable.

On Friday,  Venus moves into cool, calm and hyper-critical Virgo. This is a great time to focus on work and productivity. It’s good for working on yourself as well — as in changes to your physical appearance, starting a new diet or exercise regimen, diving into self-help books, and taking care of your health.

Venus is said to be debilitated in Virgo. But this archetype is incredibly self-sufficient and  is incredibly autonomous, so think about what you may have relied on others for in the past that you’re capable of tackling on your own.

This doesn’t mean you need to shy away from partnerships: in fact this placement is right at home when it comes to doting on and taking care of others. But it’s a good time to think about the things you’ve been wanting to do to improve and enrich your own life, and then setting about to do them.

Things slow down over the weekend and Mercury forms a square to Saturn on Saturday and may see you wanting to just crawl back into bed and pull the blankets up over your head. This aspect can bring feelings of melancholy to the surface. It can manifest as boredom or apathy. It can leave seeing the glass as half empty rather than half full.

If you find yourself asking “what’s the use?” or “why even bother?” try to shift your thinking, as this transit can see you wallowing in your own misery. The good news is that this aspect is relatively fast moving and should see you back in business before the weekend is done. You might as well get some rest though, because Sunday’s transits — which we’ll get to next week — aren’t shaping up to be much better.
