Weekly Astrology Forecast — Dec 11, 2017 – Dec 17, 2017:

Forecast

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Dec 11, 2017 – Dec 17, 2017:

This week starts on Monday with a last-quarter Moon in Virgo which is squaring Saturn. This isn’t the most pleasant combination out there; in fact the Moon / Saturn square (in any sign) can present as melancholy, loneliness, depression or social inhibition. But it’s fortunately a relatively short-lived transit that shouldn’t linger past the early morning hours.

Virgo is the esoteric ruler of the Moon. And this will be the last full week with Saturn in Sagittarius (before it moves into the sign it rules: Capricorn). This Moon can be somewhat nit-picky and hyper-analytical, but once it completes the square it will go void of course and then move into Libra around 5am.

The Moon in Libra is known for fairness and objectivity; and for striving for balance and harmony in all things. It will remain there for all of Monday and most ot Tuesday, and as it will be sextiling Venus, Mercury and the Sun during this time it should make for pleasant socializing and interacting with others.

This is reinforced by Jupiter conjuncting the asteroid Vesta (also on Tuesday). Jupiter / Vesta contacts tend to be welcoming and inclusive. They draw people to you and make them feel at home. They foster closeness and intimacy, especially as they are moving through Scorpio, the most intimate sign there is.

Mercury retrogrades back to conjunct the Sun on Wednesday. This exact conjunction is known in classical astrology as “cazimi” (in the heart of the Sun). It’s influence is said to be heightened and energized by the Sun, but because Mercury is debilitated by sign and is essentially “hidden” by the Sun, this aspect can be somewhat problematic.

The main thing to watch for  — especially since Mercury is retrograde — is information that is hidden or lacking which can result in making ill-informed decisions. This is not the time to make plans that are set in stone, make major purchases or sign contracts. It’s a good time to go back over old plans, contracts and agreements with a fine toothed comb. Mercury retrograde (and under the Sun’s beams) can cloud your thinking, so steer clear of anything that requires you to be decisive or definitive.

By Thursday, the Moon will have moved into Balsamic phase and in Scorpio. This is not the most comfortable place for the Moon as Scorpio is the sign of its detriment. But it conjuncts Mars (which is exalted in Scorpio) and then Jupiter during the day. These lunar aspects may be fleeting, but they can intensify your interactions with others, especially those

Venus and Mercury conjunct on Friday and together they trine the North Node. This transit is about being in touch with your feelings enough to put them into words, and it’s about wanting to express what you feel openly and honestly. The Mercury retrograde portion of this aspect can see you taking a trip down memory lane, or feeling the urge to reach out and touch someone from your past.

The trine to the North Node (which simultaneously sextiles the South Node) says that there may be a karmic component to the people who come into your life during this time. This is a time for putting your best foot forward, especially as the asteroid Ceres goes stationary direct in close conjunction to that North Node, also on Friday.

Speaking of asteroids, we have two of them changing directions this week. With Ceres turning direct on Friday and Pallas Athena turning retrograde on Saturday. Where Ceres is tied to abundance, gain and reward, Pallas is more interested in wisdom, strategy and skill. And because the Pallas station occurs closely conjunct to Uranus, we can expect to see some radical ideas emerging during this time.

Also on Saturday, the Sun trines Uranus and squares Chiron on Saturday.  The Sun / Uranus portion of this configuration is passionate and assertive. Consider that the Sun is tied to your life force, will and self-expression, while Uranus is tied to thinking outside the box. It is associated with being progressive and innovative, as well as broadening your range. This aspect encourages you to march to the beat of your own drum and express your own unique individuality in ways that inspire rather than shock.

The square to Chiron can create a need to remedy an imbalance between the desire for self-actualization (the Sun) and the urge for self-sacrifice (Chiron). Heading up a volunteer program or taking part in something meaningful in community are good ways to actualize this transit.

The weekend winds down on Sunday with a waning Moon in Sagittarius (joining four other planets: Venus, Mercury, the Sun and Saturn) as we move toward the December’s New Moon (exact on Monday). This placement will hopefully see us all ending the week on an upbeat, optimistic and very positive note.

That’s all for now; see you next week!
