Weekly Astrology Forecast — Dec 3, 2018 – Dec 9, 2018:

Forecast

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Astro Forecast for the week of Dec 3, 2018 – Dec 9, 2018:

This week begins on Monday, with the Sun squaring Mars and Uranus squaring the North and South Nodes. The Sun / Mars transit can be defiant and combative. With the square aspect pits one planet’s energies against the other, it can manifest as heated arguments or confrontations, even though both of these planets are disposited by Jupiter (which is itself dignified by sign).

Mars is action, energy and drive — all commendable traits. But pit it against the Sun (ego, will, personal expression) and it can bring out the less savory Martian impulses, like anger, aggression and impatience. With Uranus also squaring the Nodes (also known as “at the bendings”) the potential for the parties involved to behave in erratic or unexpected ways is also strong.

Fortunately there’s a bit of a saving grace transit on Tuesday, as Mercury trines Chiron and offsets some of that confrontational Mars / Sun / Uranus energy. This transit brings elements like compassion, humility and tolerance into the mix, which makes social interactions so much more pleasant.

As both of Mercury and Chiron are in water signs, the capacity for understanding others and being able to put yourself in their shoes — as well as the ability to express genuine caring and compassion for those who aren’t always so easy to love — is greatly enhanced.

The Sun squares Neptune on Wednesday, which may see you feeling unsure about yourself and questioning your own self-worth as well as how you may be perceived by others. This aspect can manifest as insecurity, self-doubts, and hypersensitivity to criticism.

You may be struggling to figure out who you really are and what you really stand for. The Sun / Neptune square can cloud your vision, especially with respect to your identity (the Sun). Don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others, or looking for ways to emulate them.

On Thursday, Mercury goes stationary direct at 27 Scorpio 17. After having been retrograde for the past few weeks, this change in direction can be a welcome relief. But it will take some time (until the 25th actually) to cross its shadow point and fully leave the retrograde behind.

Because it’s in Scorpio, it invites us to dig deep and scrutinize everything to the infinitesimal degree. This is an excellent placement for doing research and analysis, and can also be good for delving into the deepest darkest regions of your own psyche.

What it might not be so good for is communicating with loved ones. You’ll want to get a handle on the tendency to read into everything and see problems where there are none. This placement can be guarded and / or hyper vigilant. It can also be skeptical, suspicious or paranoid.

The good news is that nothing will get past you and no one is going to be able to play you for a fool. But the bad news is that this placement has so much difficulty taking anything at face value that having even a casual conversation can start to feel like walking through a land mine.

Friday’s New Moon is at 15 Sagittarius 07, which is closely square to the Mars / Neptune conjunction that takes place on the same day.

As New Moons always represent new beginnings and opportunities to start anew, this one — in Sagittarius — presents opportunities for personal growth and spiritual awareness.

In general, the Sagittarius Moon inspires us to think about travel, adventure, philosophy and higher mind pursuits. It takes us out of our comfort zones and gets us thinking about how the other half lives.

The Sun and Moon (New Moon) squaring Mars can be a bit temperamental though; it’s a feisty, volatile energy that can see you feeling ready to put up your dukes and fight. It can turn you into an activist or a champion for the underdog, or it can see you jumping to conclusions and lashing out at others in anger.

And while the square to Neptune can soften some of that energy, it can also distort your perceptions. So make sure you have all the facts and know exactly what you’re standing up for before you put your neck on the line.

Mars and Neptune in Pisces is sensitive, compassionate and loving. It’s idealistic and altruistic. It can be somewhat delusional though too. It’s not good at filtering out negative or harmful information, and can therefore be easily deceived. One of the most beautiful aspects of this conjunction is the ability to put itself in someone else’s shoes and relate to them in very intimate ways.

On Saturday there’s a recurrence of Mercury and Chiron in trine (seen earlier in the week when Mercury was still retrograde) as Chiron turns direct. Since we already addressed the Mercury / Chiron aspect we’ll move straight ahead to Chiron.

Chiron turning direct marks the onset of a period where you use what you’ve learned through processing your own perceived failures and disappointments to guide others along similar paths. This can be accomplished on a large or small scale, but will come to you naturally through your own capacity for understanding, compassion and forgiveness.

Chiron will remain in direct motion for another seven months, moving through the final degrees of Pisces and into Aries, where it will retrograde again in  (and then retrograding again next July). You can use this cycle to work on your own soul growth as you learn from your mistakes and heal yourself through the process of healing others.
