Welcome to the month of the Autumnal equinox (September 22) and hopefully cooler temperatures and calmer astrological times since the eclipses of August are over….Wishful thinking on my part as September begins with Mars making a square to Saturn, yikes! Here’s what’s up for the astrology of the month of September.
Mercury moves from 13 degrees of Virgo into Libra on September 10th and then into Scorpio on September 30th. Mercury functions very well for the month as Mercury rules Virgo, is friends with Venus, the ruler of Libra, and in a sextile relationship with Mars in Cancer for the first week of the month.
Venus is currently in her own sign of Libra until September 10th and then moves into the sign of Scorpio where she makes a square to Pluto at 3 degrees of Aquarius from September 10th through the end of the month when she reaches 8 degrees of Scorpio. This hard aspect can bring some trouble with love, close relationships, harmony and money issues. Venus will go into retrograde motion in early October for about 41 days, so this is the first of 3 exact square aspects of Venus to Pluto. However, for the entire month of October, Venus is essentially in a square aspect to Pluto. Consequently, the financial markets will be particularly volatile next month.
Mars, at 13 degrees of Cancer, moves to 0 degrees of Leo by the end of the month and becomes much more effective in that masculine fire sign. Mars is now making a square aspect to Saturn retrograde in Aries for the first 6 days of the month, creating some tensions regarding the military in the world. Mars is weaker than normal in the sign of Cancer and doesn’t act with as much assertive power in this sign, which is more concerned with nurturing and taking care of others.
Jupiter is in the sign of Leo and progresses from 13 degrees, 56’ to 19 degrees, 36’ by month’s end. Jupiter enjoys his time in this generous and expressive fire sign and is in a nice trine relationship with Saturn retrograde at 13 degrees of Aries, which may be helping us stay somewhat stable in these trying times. They will separate from that positive 120 degree aspect after September 21st and then things could begin to feel a bit wobbly for the world in general.
Uranus, the disrupter, will begin his yearly retrograde cycle on September 10th at 5 degrees, 39’ of Gemini. The 10th of the month has a lot going on with the new Moon in Virgo, Mercury into Libra, Venus into Scorpio and this station of Uranus. He only moves 6’ from September 10th to the 30th so people with planets or angles from 4-6 degrees of the mutable signs will feel that big changes are afoot and that they are relentless and inevitable. The station also activates the last Lunar eclipse on August 27th which was at 4 degrees, 54’ of Pisces/Virgo. Unexpected things can happen around the 10th, so all you can do is respond with integrity and good intentions. Gemini is all about communication, movement and social connections, so those areas of life could have some glitches during this month.
Neptune is still making a slow retrograde path in Aries, moving from 3 degrees, 39’ to 2 degrees, 52’. Neptune energy is nebulous, mystical, artistic, inspirational, illogical and delusional at its worst. It’s hard to assign an event to Neptune’s vibe, though the recent climate-related floods in Nepal and the Grand Canyon somewhat fit the bill. Neptune in these early degrees of Aries can be almost in a state of inertia; it’s hard to get things started. It’s like walking into a dark room and having to feel around for a doorway or light switch. You just keep moving slowly to not stumble and hope you find your way.
Pluto is retrograde in the air sign of Aquarius and moves from 3 degrees, 30’ back to 3 degrees, 7’. At least it makes a trine to Uranus, so it feels like we are making progress by and for the people, but it’s not happening very fast. We all need to focus on positive transformation for ourselves personally and for the world at large.

Aries — March 21-April 19: With Saturn retrograde in your sign and making a square to Mars in Cancer in your 4th house, you could use this energy to solve some old or existing problem within your home or on your property. Jupiter is transiting your 5th house, so maybe get your children involved in this as a family project so it’s not all hard work. Pay attention to your investments and insurance coverages as there is some financial instability coming in October, and it’s best to know where you stand and be proactive if you need to. Your career faces some glitches or delays this month, too. Saturn retrograde in Aries is not a particularly easy time of life. Good days for you are the full Moon in Aries on the 26th and the 27th.
Taurus — April 20-May 20: With Jupiter now in your solar 4th house of home, do things that improve your property and perhaps also have a social gathering with friends. Just don’t overspend as the coming Uranus retrograde happens in your 2nd house of money, values, and cash flow, so make it a potluck to ease your cash outflow. Venus moves into your solar 7th house on the 10th, energizing that house of partnership for the next 4 months as she begins her retrograde dance in October. However, married Taureans could find themselves cranky or dissatisfied about a lot of things during that retrograde as Venus is not comfortable in the sign of Scorpio. Don’t take it out on your spouse, as maybe you just need a solo retreat somewhere to relax on your own time schedule. The lunar vibes favor you on the 1st, 2nd, 28th, 29th and AM hours of the 30th.
Gemini — May 21-June 21: With Uranus in your sign at 5 degrees and about to go into retrograde motion for the next 5 months, there are some powerful changes looming on the horizon. Some of them you may have already been thinking about; some will be totally new territory for you. Run the options by either a trusted friend or co-worker or a family member whom you admire. The universe has already signaled that you need a career path adjustment but you may also be considering a move. You have time here as Uranus moves slowly and goes back to 1 degree 40’ by February 8th, when it goes into direct motion again. Check in with your gut instinct and pay attention to what shows up in front of you. The 3rd, 4th and the PM hours of the 30th favor Geminis.
Cancer — June 22-July 23: With Mars transiting your sign and in your solar 1st house, there’s good energy available for you, so begin some project or personal goal and stick with it. Jupiter is in Leo in your solar 2nd house of money, assets and income, so that usually bodes well for money coming in. Just don’t get tempted to spend a lot, as Jupiter sometimes seduces us into luxury purchases. Saturn, retrograde at 13 degrees of Aries, is in a nice trine relationship with Jupiter in your solar 10th house, which means work is going pretty well, though the position may not be all you hoped it would be; it is stable. Uranus is about to retrograde in Gemini in your solar 12th house of solitude, karma, surrender and the subconscious mind, so you may have some escapism fantasies. If you can get away for even a long weekend, that desire can be satisfied. The 5th, the 6th and AM hours of the 7th are your stellar days this month.
Leo — July 24-August 23: Jupiter is still transiting your sign and is now at 13 degrees, 47’ in your solar 1st house. This gives one a sense of optimism, generosity and good will towards others. And it comes right back at you. You still have Pluto retrograde looming on your 7th house cusp, which can indicate major problems in contractual relationships like marriage or business partnerships. Tread lightly but spend a lot of time investigating motives, behind-the-scenes maneuvers and money trails. The 7th house is open enemies, so you will have a good idea who is behind any shenanigans that feel threatening to your continued success. Above all else, do the right thing as Saturn is in your solar 9th house of beliefs, higher philosophies and the law. Your best days are the PM hours of the 7th, the 8th and the AM hours of the 9th.
Virgo — August 24-September 22: With your ruling planet, Mercury, transiting your sign and in your solar 1st house right now, things should be going pretty well through the end of the month. Jupiter is transiting your solar 12th house of seclusion, karma and the subconscious mind, so it is a good time to begin a meditation practice or attend a retreat. Saturn is retrograde and transiting your solar 8th house of investments, insurances, end-of-life matters and legacies. Slow and steady wins the race regarding investment payoffs and wealth planning. Pluto is retrograde and lurking in your solar 6th house of health, habits, small pets, and service work. This placement gets triggered by a square from Venus in Scorpio from your solar 3rd house of siblings, neighbors, communication and your interests, but Venus also rules relationships and bonding patterns. This will be present for several months as Venus does her retrograde thing beginning in early October and stays in that square aspect for the entire month of October. Stay centered and clear of any drama. The lunar vibes favor your interests on the PM hours of the 9th, the new Moon on the 10th and the 11th.
Libra — September 23-October 22: You continue to get the benefits of Venus in your sign in your solar 1st hour through the 10th. This gives you a rather glamorous air and attracts people to you. Mercury enters your sign on the 10th and continues that attraction factor, as Mercury and Venus are friends. The Sun enters Libra on the 22nd, so you have many planets doing you some favors this month. With Saturn retrograde in your opposition sign of Aries now and through April of 2028, there can be limitations regarding partnerships, business and personal. Take extra care if signing a contract; read the fine print and know what is expected of you and the other party. Your stellar days are the 12th and 13th this month.
Scorpio — October 23-November 22: With your ruling planet, Mars, transiting your solar 9th house in Cancer, there’s not much of an issue other than on September 1st when he makes a hard square aspect with Saturn, retrograde in Aries in your solar 6th house. You might want to use some caution that day, particularly if there’s any risk to what you need to do that day. This aspect often makes one undertake a task that is more than you can safely handle. There is a danger of getting hurt. Fortunately, the aspect wanes by September 3nd. The new Moon on the 10th, along with Uranus going retrograde in your solar 8th house indicates a big change coming regarding investments, your spouse’s income, and a major shift in what your long-term life plan is. Pluto at the bottom of your chart in the 4th can bring a major move that can be forced by a change of circumstances. The lunar vibes of the 14th, 15th and AM hours of the 16th illuminate your situation.
Sagittarius — November 23-December 20: Jupiter is moving right along in Leo, a fire sign he enjoys the limelight in. It’s happening in your solar 9th house of beliefs, foreign countries, publishing, higher education and the law, so you might consider taking a trip or taking a class or taking a class in a foreign country! Make the most of this fortunate Jupiter placement as you need a diversion from the mundane. Mars in your solar 8th house can mean you have to fight for something financial to be paid to you. It might be an insurance claim, an inheritance or an investment gone south. Come out of the gate swinging on the 1st, as that is when that aspect is exact. Know your rights but also get a good lawyer. The lunar position in the PM hours of the 16th, the 17th and 18th favors all Sagittarians.
Capricorn — December 21-January 20: With Saturn retrograde in Aries and making a square aspect to your sign, you might be experiencing some melancholy or general sadness at this time. The first few days of the month might have you feeling very tired, so rest up as it won’t go on for long. Uranus is powerful this month as it goes retrograde in your solar 6th house of health, so you must maintain a good health regimen to feel your best. It might also be the time to make some schedule changes with your work routine. Take a deep dive into your busy times and your doldrum times and make some changes. It can’t hurt to just be around when people are the most available. In any event, let yourself be led into a more productive timetable. Capricorns have a couple of really favorable days on the 19th, 20th and AM hours of the 21st.
Aquarius — January 21-February 19: With Pluto still in retrograde motion on your Ascendant in the 1st house, there’s a certain intensity to most days in your life, or at least you are experiencing life that way. Jupiter is in your opposite sign of Leo in the 7th house, the house of partners and open enemies, and is actually helpful to you there. You can get support from a partner or a spouse when you need it. The real challenge will come in October when Mars gets into Leo and opposes Pluto for almost the first two weeks. So, this is the month to prepare and accomplish things while you have the support. Venus is at the top of your chart, so don’t forget to enjoy life and what you do for a living. Your stellar days are the PM hours of the 21st, the 22nd and 23rd.
Pisces — February 20-March 20: With Jupiter, your ruling planet, all happy in the fire sign of Leo and in a nice trine relationship with Saturn in Aries, it would appear that things are in a nice routine with your work and that your health is stable as well. There could be an additional expense from one of your children with Mars in your 5th making a square to Saturn in your 2nd, but you can always say no; well, you can to an adult child anyway. The major event is the Uranus retrograde at in your solar 4th house of home, family, real estate and ancestors. Often Uranus at the beginning of this house triggers a sudden move to a new location. Uranus will be very strong all month, so pay attention to what’s swirling around and don’t be surprised if you start to plan a relocation. Uranus goes direct in the middle of February in 2027 so it gets even closer to the cusp at that time. Things go your way on the 24th and 25th.
