Weekly Astrology Forecast — Jul 13, 2020 – Jul 19, 2020

Forecast

Here is the Ask the Astrologers Weekly Forecast for the week of Jul 13, 2020 – Jul 19, 2020:

This week starts on Monday with a last-quarter Moon in Aries, which is also the focal point of a t-square involving the Sun, Jupiter and Pluto. As the the last-quarter Moon is tied to outer-world (rather than personal) experiences, it can signal a need to focus on your public persona. With this configuration, you’d do well to think about how your actions are aligning with your career goals and your reputation. You may also find yourself at a professional crossroads and needing to make some changes in this area.

The Moon in Aries is known for being dynamic and assertive, but pit it against three other powerful planets and it can become downright forceful. There’s no question that this configuration can be persuasive (think People’s Temple leader Jim Jones, who also had an Aries Moon / square Jupiter and Pluto). But it can also be aggressive, controlling and confrontational. Fortunately lunar transits are fleeting, so at the least the emotional component (the Moon’s portion) of this aspect will be short-lived.

The Sun / Jupiter portion of this configuration is exact on Tuesday, when these two planets complete their opposition. This aspect can indicate conflicts with others due to overblown egos or self-importances. This is the time to keep your ego in check and to make sure you’re not coming across to others as too big for your britches.

You may also be dealing with someone who is overbearing during this transit. You won’t make much headway if you try to challenge them, in fact this aspect can degenerate into a battle of wills. Politics and religious or ideological debates are likely to get heated and are unlikely to result in any meeting of the minds. Remember that ego is involved here and no one is going to want to concede defeat.

There’s also a Mars / Chiron conjunction on Tuesday that can help to offset some of that energy. This is known as a gentle warrior aspect, which can manifest as a desire to stand up for those who are unable to stand up for themselves. It can also make it easier for us to see and acknowledge other people’s points of view. This transit strives to honor and embrace interpersonal differences and seeks to gain a better understanding of them.

On Wednesday, the Sun / Pluto opposition completes, although by then the Moon will be in a much calmer and gentler place (in Taurus, where it’s exalted). Still this is a larger than life aspect that can bring conflicts to the forefront. There’s the potential for power struggles to erupt and overblown egos interfere with getting things done.

This transit can be wilful and rebellious, so be mindful of loved ones’ need to be themselves. Power struggles, harsh words and trust issues are all indicated here. This is not the time to try to force someone into a specific role or exert your own expectations on others.

With the Moon in Taurus continuing on into Thursday, we’ll surely be looking for ways to escape the drama. The Moon in Taurus is earthy, sensuous and solid. It’s calm and practical, and can be slow-moving or overly cautious. It prefers to savor meaningful experiences, much like someone would savor a meal or a bottle of fine wine.

By this time that Taurus Moon is making mostly favorable aspects (and the ones that aren’t are still not bad), making this a good day to lounge around the house, listening to music, baking, decorating, and — depending on where in the world you are located — landscaping and gardening. These are all Taurus Moon activities, with the idea of comfort, luxury, and getting in touch with nature and the earth being the corresponding theme.

Moving onto Friday, we have the Moon — now in Gemini — conjuncting Venus and the fixed star (one of the four “Royal Stars”) Aldebaran in the early morning hours.

Since by then the Moon will have moved into Balsamic phase, it will appear to us as waning crescent, making this configuration well worth seeing. They’ll start to rise over the Eastern horizon around 1 am UT.

Moon and Venus aspects are generally auspicious, and this one should be as well. It’s known to be pleasant, cooperative and accommodating, with emphasis on love, beauty, comfort and companionship.

The Moon continues moving through Gemini through most of Saturday, going void of course later in the day (at 9:14pm UT). It remains as such (both in Gemini and void of course) until it moves into Cancer the following day. At this point we’re back to having eight planets in cardinal signs, and while the Moon is at home in Cancer, it’s involved in some tense aspects for the rest o the weekend.

On Sunday the Moon conjuncts Mercury and squares Mars, a set of minor transits that can be tempestuous. You want to watch out for a tendency to take things to personally, read too much between the lines and make mountains out of molehills. Even though both the Moon and Mars are well placed in their own signs, the 90° (square) aspect between them is all about butting heads.

Remember that Moon transits are fleeting, so ride it out and don’t let your buttons get pushed during this time. We have much bigger transits to concern ourselves with next week, including a New Moon, Sun / Saturn opposition and another cardinal t-square involving Mercury, Mars and the Moon.

That’s it for this week. See you next week!
