March 2021 Tarot Scopes by Melodie

Aries: Nine of Pentacles

You may have a lot going on this month, with three planets in your 11th (social) house and your ruler (Mars) moving into Gemini in your 3rd. These are all very action (and interaction) oriented placements, but they can also be extremely draining.

As a result it might be time for you to take a breather, or stop and smell the flowers, like the figure in this card.

The Nine of Pentacles is all about enjoying the bounty that life affords you rather than focusing on what you lack. You’re hopefully feeling good about how far you’ve come and are ready to start enjoying it.

The Nine of Pentacles — from the Sun and Moon Tarot — says that you’re more than satisfied with all you’ve attained. It’s about counting your blessings and aligning yourself with those concepts, knowing that the Universe offers up unlimited resources to those who do.

Take some time this month to appreciate all that you have as well as those who have helped you along the way.  And remember that wealth and abundance needs to flow (it’s called “currency” for a reason), if you’re able to give some of it away.

We know that all the money in the world won’t buy us happiness if it’s acquired without passion. Yet we keep on wanting more of it, and find ourselves struggling with the idea of figuring out how much is “enough.”

The Nine of Pentacles challenges us to not only answer that question but to examine our personal values as well. Remember that whatever you put out there — whether it’s time, energy, money or yourself — as well as whatever you’re open to receiving, will all balance out and be replenished over time.

TAURUS: The Sun

This month, there’s a line up of planets in your 10th and 11th houses, the areas most associated with being in the limelight or prominent in you field. At the same time, Mars is moving into your money house, where it will remain for the next 6 weeks.

These transits are great making your presence known. They’re also good for putting yourself out there and for making  lots of money. But we know that there’s more to life than accolades and outward appearances, and now is the time to prove it.

This is the Sun card from the beautiful Napo Tarot. It’s associated with joy, happiness, optimism, warmth and vitality. It refers to being present in the moment and celebrating life.

Look around you and take notice of the blessings that surround you. Step away — at least mentally — and turn your attention away from work and mundane affairs long enough to soak in the energizing rays of the Sun.

The Sun is a happy–go-lucky card that speaks of “seizing the day.” It encourages us to cast our worries aside and tap into the childlike wonder that inspires us to laugh, play, sing and dance — like the joyful figure in this card.

The Sun reflects your own inner light and inspires you to let it shine. It encourages you to say yes to life rather than letting your troubles hold you back. It tells you to turn your face to the Sun rather rather than looking back over your shoulder toward whatever caused you to dim your light in the first place.

Three of CupsGEMINI: Three of Cups

With Mars moving into your sign this month and a lineup of planets in your 9th and 10th houses, your  calendar should be overflowing with opportunities.

This is the Three of Cups from the Ceccoli Tarot. It’s a joyous and festive card that emphasizes playfulness and partying over work and responsibilities. it also emphasizes friends and casual relationships over serious romantic entanglements.

Even if you’re practicing social distancing (like the mermaids in this card), it’s a time for being surrounded by like-minded people and putting your differences aside. It’s about coming together and joining forces with those who have your best interests at heart.

The focus is on merriment and gaiety rather than monotony and drudgery. It’s on interacting with others, giving you the opportunity to push aside the more serious considerations at least for the time being.

Pay attention to new people coming into your life during this time too. You could find yourself developing friendships with people that seem random at first but turn into important connections over time.

In terms of romance the Three of Cups can refer to reconnecting with an old flame or reuniting with an ex. It can also manifest as a natural progression from the Ace of Cups (an attraction) and the Two of Cups (a mutual attraction) to the Three of Cups (acting on that attraction and taking things to the next level).

Whether you’re celebrating your own good fortune or raising your glass to toast another’s, the Three of Cups serves as a reminder that there’s always something to be grateful for, and always someone to share your gratitude with.

Eight of SwordsCancer: Eight of Swords

This month may see you stuck in a precarious position, unsure of your next move. You may have gotten tangled up in something against your better judgment, or you may have gotten backed into a corner that you never saw coming.

Either way, the conundrum with this card — the Eight of Swords from the Gypsy Palace Tarot — is the need to remove yourself from a perilous situation without making things worse.

The woman in this card could easily extract herself if tried. But instead she’s caught up in in the serpents’ coils, paralyzed by fear.

There’s a definite inability to see the forest for the trees vibe to this card. And that all stems from being too focused on how you might be trapped rather than figuring out ways to get out.

Notice the Sun shining through the clearing and the pathway which is only partially obscured. If she wanted to plan her escape that would be the first place to look, if only she’d bothered.

You’ll have to look at both how you’ve contributed to the situation you find yourself in and the best way to get yourself out of it. At the very least you’ll have to find the motivation to start moving toward a solution.

That solution is likely right there before you, and it may be clear to others even if you can’t see it yourself. You can either unwind yourself from the restrictions that have rendered you immobile, or you can retrace your steps and back yourself out the same way you came.

LEO: Ten of Pentacles

Your focus will be on relationships this month, especially the more serious, committed, long-term relationships, such as a marriage or soul-mate type relationship.

This is the Ten of Cups from the Mythic Tarot. In this version of the card, we see Psyche and Eros being joined in holy matrimony. Psyche has been elevated to Goddess status, her virginal white gown and wings now a shimmering gold. They’re joined together as One, equal in every way.

The Ten of Cups tells you that you’ve achieved something worth acknowledging and celebrating, as seen in the imagery of this card. It’s about fulfillment and security; a solid foundation of abundance and prosperity, and the sense that you have built something you can take pride in.

But it also implies a crescendo or culmination, which forces you to look at the “now what?” aspects of your relationship. Is it possible to be loved too much or to have so much affection for another that you feel like you’re bursting at the seams?

Falling in love is a beautiful thing. And as long as you’ve got your feet on the ground, it can last a lifetime. But this card also speaks of the capacity to love someone so desperately that you lose track of where you end and they begin.

You want to temper your desires to merge with another with the enough independence and autonomy to sustain one another separately. This is how any of us can be elevated to our own divine statures, by making the sum of the parts greater than the whole.

VIRGO: Three of Wands

This month, with a line up of planets moving through your 6th and 7th houses, it’s going to be time for you to think expanding your horizons.

It’s a time to paint your own canvas and create your own destiny. It’s a time for seeing the the world of possibilities that surround you and being ready to take advantage of them.

This is the Three of Wands from Dana Driscoll’s Tarot of Trees. It’s all taking risks, striking out toward un

Moving ahead means you may be leaving something behind. Something like a dull dreary existence or a reality that no longer suits you.

It may mean taking a risk, striking out toward unchartered territories and expanding your horizons so far and wide that you’re ready to make your imprint wherever you go.

It’s about opening the door to possibility and setting your sites on distant horizons. What can I do with what I already have to make a difference in the world? What do I have to offer that will bring the greatest reward? These are the questions you want to be asking yourself right now.

The Three of Wands is a card of expectation and anticipation. It’s says that you’ve already started to hit your stride. It says you’ve already done the groundwork and are now ready to strike out and make all that you’ve dreamed of a reality.

LoversLibra: The Lovers

Love is in the air for you this month, with 6 planets moving through your 7th and 8th houses, the areas associated with relationships and physical intimacy.

With this in mind, your card this month is the Lovers from the World Spirit Tarot. This card is all about relationships and relationship choices.

These are often complicated by temptations that emerge, forcing you to have to choose between dual principles or desires.

Are you seeing in your own life where an attraction has turned into a fixation or obsession? Or where perhaps you’re relaxing your own set of standards to allow for indiscretions you’ve already made?

This card says that the stakes are high and that there may be a price to pay for giving into your passions without considering the long term repercussions.

A third party (leading to infidelity on someone’s part) is one possibility. But so is a relationship that’s likely to create tensions with family members or society. A same-sex union. A May-December romance. An inter-racial affair. A relationship that is sure to be frowned upon by your religion. A love affair with your co-worker or boss. The possibilities are endless.

It can also refer to the union of polarities, as seen in the World Spirit version of the card. The angels watching over them remain the background. They don’t assist and they don’t interfere. This is something to keep in mind today (and all days) as you find yourself struggling with temptation. You do have free will, the choice is ultimately yours, and whatever decision you make will have consequences that you’ll be expected to answer for.

Six of CupsScorpio: Six of Cups

You may feel the urge this month to reach out to those who remind you of life’s simpler pleasures, such as a family member or a childhood friend.

The Six of Cups — this version from the Shadowscapes Tarot — speaks of innocence, wonder, sentimentality and reminiscing about the past. You may be missing someone, longing for the comforts and companionships that have gone by the wayside over time.

You could also hear from an old friend unexpectedly. Someone who’s been on your mind and who takes you on a trip down memory lane, reminding you of long-forgotten events that come rushing back to you in a wave of nostalgia.

This card is also about fantasy and make-believe. Notice the young girl in this card hosting a tea-party among her imaginary friends. Along with her treasured childhood toys there are birds, fish, fairies and elves. Five of the six cups are teacups and the sixth is a golden vessel on an outcropping by the stream.

There are symbols here of abundance (fish), emotions (water), and luck (the 6th golden vessel). But it’s the sweetness and sincerity that stands out the most. This is also true of memories — especially the happier memories — which tend to take on softer hues when we look back on them with longing.

You may be missing someone this month, or looking forward to a reunion with someone from your past. Old memories are likely to be flooding in, and while it may not be useful for you to dwell too long on them, the overall feelings are those of genuine contentment and good will.

Sagittarius: Princess of WandsPrincess of Wands

This month, with your ruling planet (Jupiter) lined up with three other planets in Aquarius in your 3rd house, you’re may have a hard time being still or just staying in one place.

This is going to be a good time for you to work on shedding your inhibitions and taking the world by storm. It’s a time for action and adventure, and for seizing the day and going after your dreams, like the the Princess of Wands, this version from the Thoth Tarot.

The Princess of Wands is passionate, confident and adventurous. She’s not afraid to put herself out there and show the rest of the world what she’s made of. She’s enthusiastic and eager to make things happen.

There’s a fiery, impassioned energy about her, as well as a sort of reckless abandon. She may not always think things through; she’s more interested in getting things moving than seeing them through to fruition. Because of this, it may not be the best time to commit to long-term projects or goals.

IAs with all of the Court cards, this may be someone in your life or it may relate to qualities that are going to be important for you to embrace. If it’s someone in your life — such as a headstrong and rebellious teenager or a temperamental partner — you’ll have to rise up and meet them on their own turf in order to balance out that energy.

The Princess of Wands can motivate and inspire you in your own life too. Ask yourself in what areas have you been too timid or uncertain, and how might incorporating some of her passion and bravery into your own life work to your advantage?

CAPRICORN: Six of Pentacles

What if money really did grow on trees? Would you help yourself to more of it? And would you share it with others a little more freely?

The Six of Pentacles is a card of abundance and good-will. It’s about aligning yourself with the concept of money as energy that both flows to you and from you with ease. You neither hold onto it too tightly (as with the fours) or worry that you don’t deserve it (as with the fives).

This version — from the Wild Unknown Tarot — the six Pentacles are portrayed as ripe luscious fruit, just waiting to be plucked from the branch on which they grow. They stand out brilliantly against the dark backdrop in stark simplicity.

Is it really all that easy? Unfortunately not. But the Six of Pentacles also speaks of helping others when you can afford it (without any expectations for being repaid) and accepting help when you need it (without any sense of entitlement or greed).

It represents prosperity, generosity and benevolence. So while you may be called upon to lend a helping hand, you may also be the benefactor of someone else’s generosity. Either way this card speaks of both “spreading the wealth” and “paying it forward,” each of which require a measure of gratitude.

Ace of WandsAQUARIUS: Ace of Wands

With Mercury and Jupiter coming together in your sign this month, you’re going to be feeling more energized, more confident and alive.

The Ace of Wands — this version from the wonderful Cosmic Tarot —  is all about manifesting your dreams and desires.

It’s about taking your life in your own hands and following your bliss. It’s about seizing the day and going after your goals with the kind of gusto that makes saying “Yes!” an absolute rather than a maybe.

It’s about increased confidence, drive and enthusiasm. Ardor. Vitality. Passion. Creativity. Power. Potential. It’s creative, dynamic and courageous. And while it can also be impulsive and reckless, its primary function is motivation.

Of all the Aces in the tarot, this one is the shaker and the mover: it’s the one that compels us to dream big, reach high and to let nothing stand in the way of manifesting our goals.

The Ace of Wands invites you to ask yourself what you really want that you haven’t (up to this point) put your whole heart and soul into? And what are the chances of making it a reality unless you do?

This energy is about offering your intentions up to the Universe with every reason to believe you will be rewarded for doing so. With this in mind, it’s time to push all negativity aside and replace it with optimism and inspiration. If you’re truly serious about manifesting your desires, there is no time like the present to do it.

Pisces: Six of Swords

This month, with the New Moon and three other planets in your sign, you want to be thinking about where you want to be heading in the coming weeks — mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally.

The Six of Swords (called Arrows in the Wildwood Tarot), is a card of transition. Moving from one chapter in your life to another, which does require leaving something behind.

You may be moving, changing jobs, ending a relationship, or releasing some baggage that’s been holding you back. Although this card refers to change more than it does to endings, there are elements of “clearing the slate” that are a necessary part of this process.

In this version of the card, we see a lone sailor navigating his tiny craft through uncharted territories. His sailboat is fashioned in the shape of a swan, and sails effortlessly toward its new destination. He’s leaving behind the life he’s known and moving toward a new existence.

Think about what has been holding you back (and what you now must leave behind) in order to move forward. This is the message behind the Six of Arrows. It may feel unsettling at first but is ultimately liberating.

You may notice the Sun (consciousness, what is known) setting behind the sailor in our card. He’s moving away from it and toward the unknown, guided by only his intuition (the Moon). Take this with you on your own journey — knowing that there are new adventures in store that can take you out of your comfort zone and lead you to a whole new world.
