Strength

ARIES: Strength

This month you may be called upon to tame your inner beast, meaning that if you feel your emotions rising and you know they may get out of control if you give way to them then you need to reign those emotions in and find another way to express them.

On the surface you look happy and calm almost contented as if nothing can rattle you yet underneath a storm may be brewing.

Be on the lookout for anyone trying to press your buttons to seek a reaction from you. This may be of paramount concern to you this month with the Strength card — this version from the Anna K Tarot — as your talisman.

If you have been having trouble with someone and they know how to rile you then you need to be extra vigilant that you do not react the way they are hoping for. If you do you lose and they win.

The yellow sky shows a prevalence of mental abilities today yet if your mind is too cluttered with many different thoughts you may not get to the gist of what you are wanting to know.

The white dress shows you as innocent in some way… almost like a blank canvas waiting to see what sprouts forth. Whatever does come forth for you today you can be sure it will not be small.

Six of Coins

TAURUS: Six of Coins

Your card this month is the  Six of Coins from the Joie de Vivre Tarot. This card speaks of aligning yourself with the Universal laws of abundance and prosperity.

It refers to the act of giving and receiving, sharing the wealth and attracting more and more of it into your life through your willingness to trust that it is meant to flow.

The Six of Coins is about giving and receiving. It’s about sharing. It’s about random acts of kindness. And it’s about the exchange of energy — which often takes the form of money or financial assistance.

When you look at the figures in this card you can see how there’s just as much joy in giving as there is in receiving, which is of course exactly as it should be. Can you even tell who is who in this picture anyway? Who is the benefactor and who is the recipient? Both are giving the other one something. For one it’s the tangible gift of money and for the other it’s the joyful gift of gratitude. Is one more valuable to you than the other?

This is something to think about this month. Kindness and consideration, compassion, generosity. But most of all gratitude.

Whether you’re the benefactor or the recipient, know that this is a never ending cycle and you’ll find yourself in both roles. Be prepared to jump in and participate fully — either through offering help to another or expressing gratitude for the help you receive.

Five of Cups

GEMINI: Five of Cups

With Saturn still retrograde and still opposing your sign, you may be experiencing feelings of loneliness and isolation this month. If so, you’ll have to ask yourself whether you’re seeing the full picture.

The Five of Cups is often tied to feelings of disappointment and regret. You may be feeling shut out at time when you most needed to be let in; rejected at a time when you most wanted to feel included.

There may be some anger here as well, as in feeling duped in some way or betrayed. But in this version — from Cathy McClelland’s gorgeous Star Tarot — the emphasis is more on what has been lost than on what can be gained.

The woman in this card focuses on the three cups spilled at her feet rather than the two that are still left and are overflowing with symbols of happiness and joy.

She can’t even see them as she’s so busy protecting herself from the elements (the rain and storm clouds brewing behind her) and focusing on what she’s lost.

A New Day is dawning right behind her and all she has to do to see it is look up. There are butterflies following the path of a rainbow, which separates the night from the day. There are new experiences to be had — including new social opportunities (the butterflies) — and hope for the future (the rainbow), as well as the potential for seeing things in a whole new light (the Sunrise).

While it may be necessary to take the time to properly mourn a loss, keep in mind that this never means your chance at happiness is over. The Five of Cups may force you to acknowledge a loss, but it also opens the door to new beginnings as long as you are willing to look up.

samurai-9cCANCER: Nine of Cups

With the Sun, Mercury and especially Venus all in your sign this month, you may run into many unexpected opportunities to increase your luck.

Venus rules both love and money, so what better way to attract both into your life than to embrace the ideals inherent in the Nine of Cups?

The Nine of Cups is called the “Wish card.” It speaks of manifesting your heart’s desires through aligning yourself with the principles of appreciation and gratitude.

This version of the card — from the Samurai Tarot — is rich in symbolism. A giant gold koi fish leaps into the air against a blood red Moon. The silhouette of a great white heron on the other side of the card frames the fish in a yin yang formation.

These symbols represent the dynamic principles of give and take that are so much a part of the Nine of Cups message. We know that Venus — when it comes to both love and money — must move and flow in order to grow.

As an animal totem, the koi fish represents wealth and material abundance. The heron represents confidence and fearlessness. They move together in harmony in this card, illustrating the need to balance these energies in your life.

Even the colors of this card speak of fortune and opportunity. Red symbolizes action, movement and energy; gold represents prosperity and fortune, and the indigo hues in the background are tied to the crown chakra and third eye.

Along with being the “Wish” card, the Nine of Cups is also a card of Miracles. As there’s so much more focus on what one has than what one lacks, it’s easier to notice small miracles and in even the smallest things. With that in mind, Count your blessings and expect good things!

japaridze-devilLEO: The Devil

This month, you may be thinking about ways to escape from the limitations in your life that have been holding you back. An aspect between the Sun and Neptune for a good part of the month may turn your focus toward overcoming some of those limitations.

Neptune is associated with confusion, uncertainty, escapism and avoidance. And while it’s possible that the restrictions you’re struggling against have all been self-imposed, the trine to the Sun (your ruler) may make them less painful for you to overcome.

The Devil card — this version from the gorgeous Japaridze Tarot — encourages you to move past the restrictions you’ve imposed on yourself, particularly with respect to the more unsavory emotions — jealousy, anger, paranoia, fear, etc.

The Devil in this card is a vibrant yet frightening combination of ominous symbols and machinery. There are spikes and gears and flames and misshapen wheels, with a dark and gloomy tower in the background and bats flying overhead.

It’s a surreal painting, the stuff nightmares and things that go bump in the night are made of. It’s hard to tell just what’s going on here, other than the desire to wake up and make it all go away.

The chains that bind you are not only holding you back but are largely self-created. Ask yourself what is preventing you from breaking them? The answer is negative emotions, self-doubts and fears.

If you have a bigger monkey on your back — such as addiction or another unhealthy form of debauchery — now is also the time to come clean with yourself about it and get it taken care of. Whatever it is, know that the Devil card is here to remind you that only you can reclaim your power. You can liberate yourself from the chains that bind you only if you’re brave enough to face them first.

Two of FireVIRGO: Two of Fire

This month’s card for Virgo is the Two of Fire, the Vision Quest Tarot’s version of the Two of Wands. It speaks of drawing on your inner reserves of self-confidence and initiative to make something happen.

This could be something that was once just a dream or half-formed vision about where you see yourself “down the road.” You may be thinking of going back to school, or looking for another job or approaching someone you’re interested in and asking them out to dinner. It doesn’t have to be something big. But it can lead to something huge.

The Two of Fire asks, “What are you waiting for?” and “why are you holding back?” It tells you there’s no time like the present to put yourself out there and take at least the first steps toward pursuing your goals.

You may not have fully fleshed out your ideas. And that’s perfectly ok. The Two of Fire speaks of putting something into action that will gather momentum over time.

It encourages you to expand your horizons and reach for broader vistas. It speaks of taking a look at your long-term goals and acting on them with courage and conviction.

If you’ve been hesitating due to fear or uncertainty, now is the time to put those worries aside. You’re already seeing how some moves are paying off, and are now in a position to take things to the next level. The Two of Fire says that all you aspire to is now within your grasp; you only need to gather up the courage and confidence to go after it.

crowLibra: The Crow

You may have to face your fears head on this month, even if you feel like climbing back into bed and pulling the covers over your head.

July’s card for Libra is the Crow, which is the Animal Wisdom Tarot’s version of the Nine of Swords. This is sometimes referred to as the “Nightmare” card. It’s associated with a sense foreboding, brought about by fears that aren’t necessarily supported by reality.

So often our fears are self-imposed. We may have gotten ourselves into a sticky situation and are now dreading the consequences. Or we might be kicking ourselves for having engaged in risky behavior and find ourselves wondering if it was worth it in the end.

The woman in this version of the card has awoken to find that she’s not safe at home in bed, but tucked instead into the wing of an ominous black Crow. As a spirit animal totem, Crows are seen as the harbingers of fate — both good and bad.

They are associated with mystery and magic, alchemy, destiny and the unknown. They’re tricksters, shapeshifters and magicians, filled with mischief and misadventure. They represent the shadow side of humanity as well as the ability to transform and rise above.

While you may be feeling unsure of yourself this month or anxious about maintaining your footing, you want to remember that most of your fears have been self-created. You can pull the covers back over your head and refuse to get out of bed, or you can tuck yourself further into the Crow’s protective wing and soar with him to great heights.

Three of CupsScorpio: Three of Cups

Scorpio’s card for July is the Three of Cups — this version from the beautiful Gypsy Palace Tarot.

The Three of Cups is a playful and festive card that emphasizes partying and celebrating over work and responsibilities. it also emphasizes friends and casual relationships over serious romantic entanglements.

It refers to being surrounded by like-minded people and putting your differences aside. It’s about coming together and joining forces with those who have your best interests at heart.

The focus is on merriment and gaiety rather than monotony and drudgery. It’s on interacting and networking with others, allowing you to push aside some of your more serious concerns — at least for the time being.

Pay attention to new people coming into your life this month. You could find yourself developing friendships with people that seem random at first but can turn into important connections over time.

This doesn’t apply only to romance by the way. Look at all the activity going on in this card. There’s a tea party going on involving at least three generations, as well as the family pets.

There are feelings of community and comfort here and let’s not forget whimsy and play. Notice the teacups and colorful tapestry, as well as the child wearing nothing but a crown.

This a good month for you to celebrate — even if you have nothing official to celebrate. It’s a good time to express your feelings — for friends, loved ones and family members, and those who’ve been important to you along the way.

MagicianSAGITTARIUS: The Magician

This month you may feel like you can accomplish anything! This is a time for being innovative and dynamic and for creating your own personal blend of magic, through the proper use of energy, action and initiative.

The Magician in this card — from Vanessa Decort’s gorgeous Sun and Moon Tarot — is seen delineating an astrology chart in heavens. An Ouroboros (world snake, known for devouring its own tail and swallowing itself, only to be born again and again) is placed around the chart wheel’s circumference.

In the center of the wheel are the Magician’s tools — a wand, cup, sword and pentacle. Esoteric symbols (yin-yang, a lemniscate, eye of horus and horse-head talisman) are also seen inside the wheel.

The Magician stands on a beach with waves lapping at the shoreline. Stars twinkle in the night sky while a fire blazes to his left and a monkey gazes out from a pile of rocks on his right.

But the figure in this deck is not your typical Magician. He marches to the beat of his own drum. The Monkey in the foreground is also fitting as monkeys are known to be clever and playful creatures who embody the spirit of the Magi.

Take some time to this month to think about what makes you unique and what skills you and you alone possess. Every one of us has something that we’re so passionate about — and properly channeled, this passion can become your calling.

It’s all about making the best and most powerful use of that thing that makes you YOU. Like the Magician in this card, you’ll want to remember that all of your resources are right there at your disposal, and will only need to be accessed in order for you to create something “magic.”

Four of WandsCAPRICORN: Four of Wands

This month you may be looking back over the last several months and at how much you’ve accomplished  and what you have gained.

This image — the Four of Wands from the Fantastical Tarot — shows your imagination running away with you and perhaps there is something that was left out for you that you wish to carry over into the coming months.

Do not be concerned that you have failed in any way as the timing may have been that you laid down the groundwork for your dreams in recent months and are now preparing to release them.

The garden (your plan) is well tended. You have laid out some very impressive groundwork in getting yourself started. The four pillars are lined with symbols of growth alongside the green beacons which further shine for you and give you inspiration.

The hill in the background is vividly green even under the light of a full moon at night and this implies that you will find the answers you seek for you plan without much need for more searching.

Help will come to you and that help will be both inspirational and practical. If nothing else, you should enjoy yourself and let your imagination soar. You may have put down the practicalities of the groundwork you need for your goals but what you seek for your next step is not so practical.

Like the Unicorn in this image it may require a little magical thinking alongside a wish or two. Keep this in mind if you are tempted to rush into action this month, as sitting back and daydreaming may get your further than anything else you could possibly do.

PP-dcAQUARIUS: Prince of Pentacles

This month you may be thinking about pursuing your goals with more dedication and dogged determination than ever.

Your card for July is the Prince of Pentacles — the Druid Craft Tarot’s version of the Knight of Pentacles. It knows that slow and steady wins the race, even though that pace may be maddeningly frustrating for others.

There’s a tendency to get too caught up in the details with this card. And there’s a tendency to be almost too cautious and practical. While it’s good to be prepared, you don’t want to be so focused on preparation that you risk letting important opportunities pass you by.

The Prince of Pentacles wants to think about where he’s going before he sets off toward his destination. He wants to consider his options before he expends any unnecessary energy. And once he gets going he knows how to conserve his resources so he can get to the finish line without having used them up.

There’s no question that he’ll meet his goals, and if this is someone in your life you can bet he’s here to teach you to do the same.

The Prince of Pentacles knows how to conserve his energy, establish goals and get the job done. The presence of this card for you this month invites you to take a page from his book and work on planning for your future.

Wheel of Fortune

Pisces: Wheel of Fortune

Round and round and round you go this month… and where you stop… nobody knows.

Life may see a bit like a merry go round for you this month and there doesn’t seem much you are willing to do in getting off the ride. The Wheel of Fortune reminds you that there are ups and downs for all of us, and sometimes it’s best to give up your resistance and allow yourself to go with the flow.

Perhaps you are feeling as if you have no power left and as the pin piercing your solar plexus (which rules power both taken and given to others) area shows you are not willing to struggle and make things worse.

Indeed if you did struggle you may also ruin those beautiful butterfly wings you are counting on in the background to free you from what binds you.

If you look closely at this card though — from the beautiful Ceccoli Tarot — you will see that the only thing that is holding you back is the pin in your solar plexus which is only one part of your body.

Plus the white feather on your head suggests you have more going on in your thoughts than anyone suspects. Specifically you are coming up with a solution to your dilemma and that solution will be pure of thought and take you far.

The colour red, which is quite pronounced in this card, suggests the need for action and yet at the same time it is nicely balanced with the purity of white.

Perhaps when the curtain does fall on the problem you are contemplating on today you will be the only one left standing and also have the choice as to whether to “fly” away and leave the situation that put you in this position in the first place or brave it out for another round.
