October 2021 Tarot Scopes by Melodie

Aries: The Chariot

With several planets retrograde at the beginning of this month, you could be dealing with feelings of restlessness and frustration, and longing to break free.

This is especially true with your ruler (Mars) debiliated by sign, in addition to both of your relationship rulers (Venus and the Sun).

But fortunately, things will start picking up for you in the 2nd week, starting with Venus changing signs, Saturn going direct and the New Moon falling in your sign.

During this time, you could be feeling a renewed sense of freedom and liberation — as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders and been replaced with wings to fly.

The Horse — Spirit of Freedom in the Animal Wisdom Tarot — is this deck’s version of the Chariot. Here the Horse has taken flight and is balanced between Sun and Moon, which is associated with day and night, or will and intuition.

The Chariot is all about harnessing your inner reserves of strength and power. In this deck the emphasis is on liberation, emancipation and being freed from the chains that bind you.

Starting on the 19th, when Jupiter goes direct and the full Moon occurs in the sign, you should start to feel that your spirits are lifting as you ascend to higher realms. You’ll still have to work on harnessing your baser instincts, but know that in doing so your goals are much closer to your reach.

King of Pentacles

TAURUS: King of Pentacles

You may see yourself adapting a position of power and  authority this month, as in overseeing something that’s become near and dear to your heart.

Perhaps you’ve invested your energy into a business that’s paying off financially. Or maybe you’re seeing results in another area — as in a relationship that’s showing signs of renewal, or a child that’s blossoming under your careful guidance. Whatever it is, you can be sure that it’s your skill and acumen that’s steering the course of success.

The King of Pentacles — this version from the Deviant Moon Tarot — is a shrewd and cunning businessman who applies these qualities to all areas of his life. Notice his “crown” made up of an industrial type building and the factories — up and running even under the dark of night — behind him.

You may be reluctant to delegate responsibility to others. The phrase “if you want something done you may as well do it yourself” speaks directly to you, altough it may not always be in your best interests.

If you struggle with trusting that things will get done without your input, keep in mind that giving up control and allowing others to show you what they’re made of can benefit you more in the end.

There’s a feminine aspect to this King: note the red lipstick, painted nails, raised pinky and high heeled shoes. He’s not all blustering masculine bravado. The message here seems to be a need to incorporate nurturing and protection if you want to reap the full benefits of your enterprise.

Two of MirrorsGEMINI: Two of Mirrors

This month — with three planets (and the New Moon) moving through your romance sector and Venus entering your relationship sectore, you’ll have opportunities to fall in love.

Whether you’re in a relationship or just looking, this card is all about falling in love, either through opening yourself up to new experiences or reigniting a connection with someone you’re already involved with.

It’s this process of falling in love that reveals to us ourselves at our very best. It’s where we put our best foot forward and the Universe responds by opening up unanticipated doors.

The Two of Mirrors — this version from the Chrysalis Tarot — often refers to that love at first sight sense of finding your other half. It’s the mutual attraction card, the “soulmate” card, and much more. It’s the process of falling in love or renewing a love connection that replenishes itself over time.

There’s a synergy that pulls two people together and echoes their feelings back to one another. In this respect the Two of Cups is more about falling in love with yourself, as seen through your partner’s eyes.

If you meet someone new this month, consider it an opportunity for growth. It could be the yin to your yang — or it could just be a friend who shows you the true meaning of the word. You may also be working on revamping your current connection or reuniting with a loved one. Whichever it is, be grateful for the opportunity to see yourself through someone else’s eyes.

Cancer: Four of Cups

You may find yourself at a cross-roads in your relationship this month. With a line-up planets (including the New Moon) in your 4th house and your relationship ruler (Saturn) retrograde in your 8th, this could be a time for turning inward and re-evaluating your needs (4th house) versus your desires (8th house).

This is the Four of Cups from the Archeon Tarot. It speaks of discontent and dissatisfaction in affairs of the heart,  whether you’re the one experiencing these things or are on the receiving end of someone else’s discontent.

The woman in this card seems to be looking down forlornly, seemingly oblivious to the wine that has spilled from the goblets before her. The spilled wine is actually reminiscent of blood droplets in some areas of the card. And this is the essence of this card: hurt, sadness, loss, and regret.

There are also elements of ambivalence or indifference associated with this card. This is what happens when the state of limerence has lifted and the lovers are left feeling bored. You may be involved in a perfectly functional relationship that lacks the thrill and excitement of something new. In this respect there’s a sense of being “comfortably numb.” You’re more likely to see the goblets as half empty than half full under the authority of this card.

If you’re not currently in a relationship, your single status may be at the root of your dissatisfaction. But one of the greater benefits of the four of cups is that it reveals to you exactly what is “wrong with this picture” and affords you the opportunity to make it right. You don”t have to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but you also don’t want to squander that opportunity.

LEO: The Lovers

This month you’ll have two planets (Jupiter and Saturn) changing direction in your relationship house, and starting to move forward again. You’ll also have three planets (and the New Moon) in your 3rd house of communications, which is also the title of this card.

This is the Lovers card from the Joie de Vivre Tarot. This version emphasizes travel, partnership and togetherness, all of which are particularly fitting, given the planets lined up in those two houses.

The couple in card aren’t really paying attention to the road ahead of them. They’re fully engrossed in one another, as are the creatures upon which they ride. Their hands (and tails) are intertwined, making it hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. The little bird flying overhead carries messages of love.

The lovers card is tied to Gemini (and the 3rd house), emphasizing the need for communications. That means listening as well as speaking, as can be seen with the figures in this card.

Whether you’re ready to fall in love or are already there, remember to honor that love with the object of your affection. And if you’re not — if you’re out there like so many of the rest of us still looking: don’t give up.

The Lovers card — and this one in particular — can serve as a reminder that there’s someone out there for all of us, and that what is most important is having an open heart that you’re ready, willing and able to share with another.

VIRGO: Nine of Pentacles

There’s lots of focus on prosperity and abundance for you this month, with several planets (as well as the New Moon) in your 2nd house of income and earnings and with two planets changing direction in your work sectore.

It’s going to be a good time for you to stay present in the moment and to be grateful for all that you’ve acquired.

The Nine of Pentacles — this version from the Light Seer’s Tarot — is all about enjoying the bounty that life affords you rather than focusing on what you lack. You may be feeling good about how far you’ve come and deserving of all you’ve been able to acquire. And now is the time to start enjoying it.

There are symbols of abundance and prosperity all throughout this card — from the colors on the card to the Nine beautiful coins that dangle from the tree. The Snow Owl landing on the woman’s hand is a manifesting symbol.

You may not be feeling very “prosperous,” especially if you’ve been struggling to make ends meet. But this card is all about putting that consciousness into perspective, and focusing on what you have rather than what you don’t.

Sometimes the Nine of Pentacles appears as a generous benefactor or someone who opens a door for you that leads to a good financial opportunity. Sometimes it comes not from an individual but an event that is the catalyst that leads to opportunity. Be grateful for the opportunity as it’s this shift in consciousness — to that of prosperity, abundance and gratitude — that will make all the difference in your life.

Ace of WandsLibra: Ace of Wands

This month, with three planets in your sign and the New Moon falling there on the 6th, you should be feeling a renewed sense of confidence, passion and inspiration.

It’s going to be a good month for visualizing your goals and then working to manifest them. Things should fall into place for you almost seamlessly as your thoughts and actions correlate to what is around you and help comes from unexpected sources.

The image on this Ace of Wands — from the Shadowscapes Tarot — suggests that there’s a correlation between what you are thinking of doing on a higher level and bringing it into your life.

There is an abundance of energy for you whether this be physical or mental and with this energy plus more importantly you are able to channel this energy into whatever you are doing.

This is the energy you want to keep in mind as you work on manifesting your goals. It is that raw, pure, unharnessed energy that is the Ace of Wands as it changes energetically from spark (idea) to flame (intention) to contact (manifestation). It’s about increased confidence, drive and enthusiasm. Ardor. Vitality. Passion. Creativity. Power. Potential.

The Ace of Wands invites you to ask yourself what you really want to do that you can put your whole heart and soul into. It invites you to offer your intentions up to the Universe with every reason to believe you will be rewarded for doing so. With this in mind, it’s time to push all negativity aside and replace it with optimism and inspiration. If you’re truly serious about manifesting your desires, there is no time like the present to do it.

Scorpio: The HermitThe Hermit

This month, with four planets retrograde and a lineup of other planets moving through your 12th house, you may feel the need to a break from distractions around and focus on seeking your answers from within.

The Hermit card refers to solitude, introspection and internal analysis. It’s about getting a better understanding of yourself and searching for a deeper meaning to life’s most pressing questions.

And while the figure in this card — from the Gypsy Palace Tarot — may lack human companionship, she’s hardly from alone. Notice the birds and fish that surround her, which may or may not be real. They may just reflect the psychic content of her own thoughts and ideas.

As the Hermit card also refers to turning inward, there is an entire spectrum of information — from the depths of the psyche (represented by the sea creatures) to the heights of conscious awareness (represented by the sky creatures) that can be accessed through this process.  As water also represents feelings, the fiery red and blue waves  at her feet can refer to the alchemical process of transmuting your emotions into something that can be worked with dynamically.

The Hermit card can appear at a time when you’re so bombarded with external stimuli that you just want to “get away” from it all. Notice the bird at the top of the card liberating himself from his cage. Be careful that you don’t spend so much time in your head that you miss out on opportunities that present themselves. They may seem random in the moment but reveal themselves later to be much more important than you’d realized.

Sagittarius: The StarThe Star

This month, with Venus entering your sign and with your your ruling planet (Jupiter) turning direct, it’s going to be a good time to acknowledge your dreams and aspirations.

You could be feeling a renewed sense of hope about a goal that is now starting to feel more reachable. Or you may be feeling inspired to explore your intuition and psychic impressions.

The Star is all about Universal harmony and synchronicity. It’s about being one with the Universe and feeling connected to every single other living thing. This is illustrated perfectly in this version of the card — from Nicoletta Ceccoli’s gorgeous Ceccoli Tarot — with the woman lounging on a cloud in the night sky and all of the planets surrounding her.

In this version a tiny angel and devil are hovering at her shoulders, loosely connected to her and one another with a fine silken cord. She holds the power to command them with a flick of her magic wand, thus altering time and destiny.

The Star card is associated with Aquarius as the Water Bearer archetype. It is a card of compassion, inspiration, intuition and faith. It also represents a sense of rebirth and renewal. As it follows the Tower card — which is associated with disaster and destruction — it can serve as a welcome refuge or a beacon of hope.

It’s the sense we have that everything will be alright — even if we have to push past our own doubts and fears. It’s also about transmuting those fears and finding a productive outlet for them. Art, music, poetry, dance, creative self-expression are all very meaningful manifestations of the Star card’s energy.

CAPRICORN: White Tiger QueenQueen of Swords

You’re going to making some important decisions this month regarding your profession, thanks to a line-up of planets moving through your 10th (career) house. At the same time your ruling planet (Saturn) is turning direct, after four and a half months in retrograde motion.

This is the Feng Shui Tarot’s version of the Queen of Swords. While she may appear pensive or reflective in this deck, you and rest assured that this Queen never misses a trick.

This Queen is rational and focused. She doesn’t mince words. When she speaks she chooses her words wisely and they may be biting. But she’s also fair, impartial and objective.

She may be a person in your life, or she may represent a set of qualities that you’ll need adopt. If this is the case with you, know that this is more about cutting through the confusion and uncertainty that separates wants from needs.

It may be a matter of putting something you’ve wanted to rest — in the spirit of accepting that it’s just not good for you. Or it could be as simple as speaking the truth, knowing that you’d only be hurting yourself otherwise.

If this is a person in your life you’d be wise to listen to what she says. She may not cushion her words with compassion, but she will always tell the truth. if this is not someone presently in your life, perhaps it’s time to listen to your own inner voice. There’s a great deal of wisdom that can be amassed, if you’re brave enough to trust in it.

AQUARIUS: Ace of Swords

This month, with both Saturn and Jupiter turning direct in your sign, you’re going to be focusing on speaking your mind and getting your ideas across to others.

The Ace of Swords — this version from the Dreaming Way Tarot — is all about achieving the kind of clarity that’s necessary to focus your intentions and accomplish your goals.

The Ace of Swords can act as a tool for manifesting. It is raw, pure, unharnessed energy that can be channeled into something both powerful and magical.

It can act as a lightning rod for either positive or negative energy, depending on how it’s used. It refers to getting to the heart of the matter, cutting through the BS, speaking your mind and honoring your truth.

But the Ace of Swords can also be somewhat aggressive and argumentative. When used negatively it really does “cut like a knife” with respect to cruelty or hurtful words. For this reason it’s sometimes best to put some distance between yourself and whatever outside influences are triggering reactions.

The Ace of Swords can be victorious or it can be defiant. And there’s no saying which one this one is. But that’s also a part of taking back your power — deciding whether you want to wield your sword for the greater good or use it as a weapon. You also want to be mindful of what you put out there.  The Ace of Swords can have a dual meaning just as the blade itself is double edged. You want to be aware of your words as well as your actions and the impact those have one others.

Pisces: Four of WandsFour of Wands

If you look back over the past several months, what would day your greatest accomplishments would be?

The Four of Wands — this version from Nathalie Hertz’s Fantastical Tarot — takes the “dream big” energy that came with the Three of Wands and turns it into something tangible, solid and lasting.

It represents a joyous celebration: a marriage, a promotion, the birth of a child. It tells you that “this is only the beginning” of something you’ve already established and that it’s going to just keep getting better and better.

You may be planning a special event — one which will be way more fun than you are anticipating. You are likely to meet people, have fun, put your worries aside and focus instead on the promise of friendship, companionship and socializing.

No matter what else you’re up against this month, remember to be grateful for what you have. It’s not the time to isolate or withdraw from social opportunities. Look around you and take note of all you’ve accomplished thus far. Chances are good there’s a lot to be grateful for and a cause for celebration right there in front of you.

Like the Unicorn in this image, it may require a little magical thinking alongside a wish or two. Keep this in mind if you are tempted to rush into action, as sitting back and daydreaming may get your further than anything else you could possibly do.
