Prince of Wands

ARIES: Prince of Wands

Mars (your ruler) has now moved into your sign. And what better card to depict that energy than the Prince of Wands — the Druid Craft Tarot’s version of the Knight of Wands? This card speaks of gathering up the courage and confidence that’s needed to go after your goals.

It may be a dream you’d set aside because you lacked the time, energy or resources to follow it n the past. It could be an interest that’s been calling out to you that’s no longer possible to resist. And it might be something (or someone) you’re passionate about that you’re only now in a position to pursue.

The Prince of Wands encourages you to move past your fears and go after your dreams with the attitude that nothing can stand in your way. You don’t want to waiver or second-guess yourself; you want to grab onto opportunities that present themselves without a moment’s hesitation.

This doesn’t mean you ought to go gallivanting across the countryside without a plan. Keep in mind the Prince of Wands can be a bit rash — in an act first and figure out how to get out of whatever predicament you’ve gotten yourself into later sort of way. Because he runs on adrenaline, he has a tendency to lose interest in anything routine.

If this is someone in your life, you will know him by his confidence and bravado. He may he here to teach you the importance of embracing some of these qualities yourself. But if instead this card represents an energy and attitude you already possess, keep in mind the importance of making preparations and pacing yourself so you don’t run out of steam.

The Prince of Wands is here to remind you that it’s a good time to dream big, challenge yourself and set your goals in motion. If you temper those goals with a enough discipline and perseverance, you may just see them manifest beyond your wildest dreams.

Four of Cups

TAURUS: Four of Cups

You may have been feeling like something has been missing from your life, in particular with respect to your relationships with others.

The Four of Cups — this version from the beautiful Rohrig Tarot — can refer to a sense of boredom and discontent. As the bridge between the excitement and promise seen in the Three of Cups and the crisis / despair so often found in the Five of Cups, this card begs the question “Is that all there is?”

The Four of Cups is called “Luxury” in this deck. It refers to the potential for taking something that you no longer have to work for for granted.

Your love life may seem stuck or stagnant or your day to day eistant lacking in passion and inspiration; and like gazing into the languorous swirling colors in the center of this card, you may find yourself lost in a hypnotic daze that you’re unable to snap out of.

You may been struggling with a sense of listlessness or feel that you’re lacking in motivation. And you may need to ask yourself what’s holding you back? Chances are good you find yourself circling the same issues over and over again, to the extent that it’s become habit.

The Four of Cups is not a “bad” card. But it can also refer to becoming “comfortably numb.” There’s a danger with this card of staying stuck in a situation — settling for good enough — rather than taking a risk on something that’s less of a sure thing.

The colors and swirls in this card are mesmerizing. But they also spiral into the center with no easy way out. Only you can decide for yourself whether what you have now is capable of sustaining you or if it’s time to branch out.

Magician

GEMINI: The Magician

With your ruling planet (Mercury) moving into Aquarius this month, you may feel like you can accomplish anything. This placement is innovative and dynamic; especially as Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the higher octave of Mercury.

The Magician in this card — from Vanessa Decort’s gorgeous Sun and Moon Tarot — is seen delineating an astrology chart in heavens. An Ouroboros (world snake, known for devouring its own tail and swallowing itself, only to be born again and again) is placed around the chart wheel’s circumference.

In the center of the wheel are the Magician’s tools — a wand, cup, sword and pentacle. Esoteric symbols (yin-yang, a lemniscate, eye or horus and horse-head talisman) are also seen inside the wheel.

The Magician stands on a beach with waves lapping at the shoreline. Stars twinkle in the night sky while a fire blazes to his left and a monkey gazes out from a pile of rocks on his right.

But the figure in this deck is not your typical Magician. He marches to the beat of his own drum, which is so fitting for the Mercury in Aquarius archetype. And Monkeys are known to be clever and playful creatures who embody the spirit of the Magi.

Take some time to this month to think about what makes you unique and what skills you and you alone possess. Every one of us has something that we’re so passionate about — and properly channeled, this can become your calling.

It’s all about making the best and most powerful use of that thing that makes you YOU. Like the Magician in this card, you’ll want to remember that all of your resources are right there at your disposal, and will only need to be accessed in order for you to create something “magic.”

CANCER: Page of Swords

Thoughts flow through you mind this month that are uplifting and enlightening. It is time to rise above anything that has been bothering you and look towards new ways of thinking.

Notice that the darkest part of this image — the Page of Swords from Ceccoli Tarot  is underneath the feet yet the feet do not touch it. It is as if by rising above a situation or your thoughts on this situation that you free yourself from it.

White butterflies are seen in abundance and most of these are above the figure’s head meaning new thoughts are coming to you and these thoughts are pure and true. They will guide you and further help to set you free.

There is one butterfly held within the hands giving the impression that if you speak your truth and let it fly then you will be further released from what has held you trapped.

With the wings holding the figure aloft looking remarkable like the butterflies flying around it there is a sense of transformation especially as the majority of the butterflies are around the crown chakra which is lit up and shining.

Do not dismiss any thoughts that pass through your mind during this time, for  they are there to show you a different way of thinking. The yellow/golds of the gown worn is also reflected in the crown chakra showing there is protection around you this month.

If you need to tackle something which you have been putting off then now is the time to either confront what has been bothering you or rise above it to the point it no longer is a problem for you. What do you have to lose? Either way you will walk away intact and unaffected with a sense of freedom.

High PriestessLEO: High Priestess

This month the Full Moon in your sign (on the 10th) is a Lunar Eclipse. This is going to be a time to go within yourself and call upon your intuitive gifts to assist you in getting what you want.

You don’t need to force anything as the High Priestess — from the Anna K Tarot —  is not about force, rather, it is about delving deep within yourself and aligning your own higher power to use in manifesting the life you desire.

Notice how the woman sits on the earth for grounding, leaning against the tree for nourishment while she turns her head towards the sky, although not quite high enough to see the moon as it reaches its state of fullness.

The High Priestess is a card of knowledge specifically drawn upon from esoteric teachings.  She dwells in a place within her own intuition where she shapes her own fate according to her will.

The darkness of night in this card alongside the deep blue robe worn by the High Priestess and her unseen eyes implies she dwells within the shadows however she does not dwell in darkness.

Perhaps you have been going through a situation where you have tried everything to logically think your way out of it and come up with an answer that is in your favour. If you have been doing this and finding you are banging your head off a brick wall perhaps it is time to go inside yourself… listen to your intuition… tune into your feelings and enjoy the “stillness” that resides within you.

The one piece of advice you need this month is this. Full moons and eclipses are full of unharnessed energy. If you don’t want something to get out of hand so quickly that you lose control over the outcome you need to take a leaf out of the High Priestess’s book and reside in your own “stillness”… a place where anything can happen.

VIRGO: Nine of Cups

Your card this month — the Nine of Cups from the Dream Raven Tarot — is also known as the “Wish card.” It’s about getting what you wish for and the attendant feelings of gratitude that follow.

In this version of the card, a brightly-colored bird gazes down in admiration upon the nine jeweled goblets that are clasped in the tendrils of her wings.

She scrutinizes each one carefully, and with genuine appreciation. Each one is so distinctive and unique that it must be hard for her to decide which one she likes best.

This a card of abundance, generosity, appreciation and gratitude. Nothing is taken for granted here — it’s all about putting out there to the Universe what you want and fully expecting to have it delivered.

At the same time there’s a great appreciation for all that you have and a willingness to share it with others.

The Nine Cups in this card are always full. They’re filled with love, gratitude and abundance, which are endlessly intertwined. They’re filled with hopes and dreams and miracles which are yours for the taking.

Along with being the “Wish” card, it’s also a card of Miracles. As there’s so much more focus on what one has than what one lacks, it’s easier to notice small miracles and in even the smallest things.

Take some time to think about what you really want this month — and don’t forget to be grateful for what you already have. There’s an intricate balance between gratitude and personal fulfillment, so make sure you’re putting enough energy and effort into both.

temperanceLibra: Temperance

This month should see you looking for ways to restore the balance and equilibrium in your life. In the midst of all the turbulence swirling around you, it’s going to be important for you to find a release.

The Temperance card — this version from the Mary-el Tarot — refers to bringing the opposing aspects of your personality (or your relationships, or your desires) into alignment by finding that perfect middle ground.

That’s not always easy — especially if you’re dealing with competing urges — such as the desire to move full speed ahead in pursuit of a goal vs. the need to hold back, regroup and exercise restraint.

The Tiger in this card is seen slicing through the ocean’s current as he propels himself toward the shore. He moves with such purpose and ferocity that we might not notice how these two seemingly incompatible forces join together. But this is the essence of the Temperance card.

The juxtaposition of masculine (tiger) and feminine (water), hot and cold — notice the steam rising from his back as he swims against the frigid tide — combined with the tiger’s dogged determination against the backdrop of the water’s mutability.

There are repeating themes here of joining / merging / blending opposing forces. Such as the small flock of birds in the distance (representing lightness and freedom) trailing the waterlogged beast. Also the predominant colors — turquoise and orange — and their relation to the throat and sacral chakras, e.g., the intermarriage of passion and surrender.

The Temperance card is all about finding (and maintaining) your center in the midst of all the turbulence around you. It may require you to rein in certain drives while you fortify their weaker counterparts.

Like the gulls hovering in the distance, you may need to rise above your situation and get some spiritual altitude. Or like the tiger swimming against the tide, you may find that your journey becomes less arduous the more willing you are to give in to the forces of nature and go with the ebb and flow.

Queen of ChalicesScorpio: Queen of Chalices

Now would be a good time to step away from all of the noise and distractions going on around you and retreat into your inner sanctuary.

This would be a good time to tap into your own sacred space and regroup — even if just for a short while.

The Queen of Chalices — the Yoga Tarot’s version of the Queen of Cups — is so good at caring for and nurturing others that she may forget to take the time to pamper herself. But this Queen is here to show you how it’s done.

She’s seen levitating over a pool of lotus blossoms in a classic meditation pose. She’s positioned herself in the most peaceful and relaxing environment possible, with soothing colors and a relaxing array of ambient lighting.

She gazes down into the tranquil waters while butterflies flit gently around her head. Her hands rest gently on her lap in the classic mudra for peace.

The Venus / Jupiter sextile brings the “greater benefics” together in harmony. It serves as a conduit between peace and joy, love and gratitude, grace and beauty.

The Mercury / Pluto trine allows you to tap into the restorative powers of your own psyche. It provides intimate access into the primal energy that flows through you, activating and energizing your chakras. It allows you to awaken the kundalini powers within that rise and nourish your spirit.

Take some time this month to create your own sacred space and nurture your own spirit. Like the Queen of Chalices in this card, find a way to create a calm, soothing environment for yourself and “rise above” the noise that can interfere with your ability to alleviate stress.

You may have neglected yourself while caring for others. But this is a time  for treating yourself, pampering yourself and restoring your own inner peace.

Six of SwordsSAGITTARIUS: Six of Swords

This month you may be thinking of journeys and not necessarily the type of journey that involves travelling. The image on this card — from Erin Mortenstern’s Phantomwise Tarot — suggests a journey within your own mind where you delve deeply into what is working for you and what is not.

The birds within the boat interlacing with the swords suggest that your thoughts may take you on a journey that you wish to share with others and it will carry far and wide.

Although the water and landscape within this image looks desolate and perhaps a bit forlorn this is not necessarily the case. Sure, there are hiccups to overcome in what you may find when you start delving deeper into your mind and find what you may not wish to find but at the same time there are a few gems in there also that may take you further than you thought.

Look at how the birds have taken to the air. The four hills in the background which suggests life’s up’s and down’s and the latticework within the boat that the birds are resting on as if to say… the path behind you is the bedrock for the path in front of you.

What I was particularly drawn to in this card was the water. It reflects the sky and whilst the sky is overcast you have to wonder what the surface of the water would reflect if it were a bright sunny day.

Given that the sky is linked to the element of air which is an intellectual element and water is linked to emotions it is with little difficulty that you can see the link between what you are thinking and how you are feeling go hand in hand.

May the new thoughts which you lay within you this month cast aside the clouds that float overhead and spring forth a new dimension to the water’s surface and depths… a dimension that is unclouded and takes you further on your journey than you ever imagined was possible.

Four of Pentacles

CAPRICORN: Four of Pentacles

What exactly are you holding onto and what do you need to let go of?

The Four of Pentacles — from the Crystal Visions Tarot — is a card of keeping what you have and not letting go of it. Whether this be money or something else in your life, ie an outdated idea, emotions that do not serve you or even points of view on a situation that if you don’t shift will keep the situation in status quo.

Look at the figure in this card she is hanging onto the tree for dear life. Each limb is attached to a pentacle and even though she is quite clear thinking as can be seen from the light above the head there is also a capacity here to be so caught up in one’s thinking that it doesn’t take you forward but keeps you stuck in outdated modes of action.

There is treasure in this card. Gemstones light the way to a pile of riches laid out spectacularly under the tree… almost growing within the tree and giving it sustenance. You may need to let go a little of your preconceived ideas in order to build your wealth or take advantage of opportunities that come your way without holding on too tightly to what you think you may or may not lose.

You have the capacity to go far. You will not lose anything if you take the risk… no apples are falling from the tree, nothing is rotting on the ground, nothing about this card speaks of loss.

The path you need to take is softly lit and it will not be difficult to take the first step which is also illuminated from the 9 crystals placed around the treasure within the tree. Even if you think you are protecting your own riches, talents or way of thinking there is something you are missing. While it may not be clear to you just what that is, it’s only because you’re holding on so tightly to the very thing that is holding you back.

The secret in this card is hidden within the upper limbs of the tree where 2 figures are merged within the branches…. look for these figures and contemplate what they may mean for you.

Two of WandsAQUARIUS: Two of Wands

This month may see your hopes and dreams swimming before you as you sit and ponder what you are going to do next. You may have a plan that you are keeping it to yourself. From your point of view you have not put the finishing touches to it yet and you do not wish to take your first step but rather wish to wait until everything falls into place.

If you are having problems in a relationship you may not be seeing the other person’s point of view but the views and thoughts that are currently on your mind going around and around in circles and furthering a retreat within you that is surely not doing the relationship any favours.

However, even on saying this it may be what is needed as a situation that has become intolerable for you will require planning and answers as to how you can either fix it or remove yourself.

This is the Shadowscapes Tarot’s Two of Wands. Notice the image of the lion with the unicorn horn. This may be a mythical creature but it is also a creature that can serve you well if you require self preservation. It also shows you have a mind that will not only see one way out of your predicament but other perhaps more unusual ways too.

You stand above everything in your life looking down with a bird’s eye view very aware of what is around you and any threats that are coming your way can be seen first and dealt with… if not by you then by your “allies” which are not only the mythical creatures of protection but also through communication through friends who may warn you what you may be having to deal with.

The patterns in the air above suggest that you are contemplating various ideas on what you next move will be. What you may wish to do though is look around you as the danger you seek out so steadfastly seems, in your mind, to only be coming from one direction.

It’s always best to have your wits about you and by taking in the grand scheme of things you can better protect yourself from anything that threatens you this month. Take a look around you… the enemy may not be who or what you think it is.

Pisces: Green Dragon Three

This month you should feel like you’re hitting your mark and making progress in everything you set your mind to. It may seem like things are starting to come together for you as you see your plans beginning to take shape.

It’s a good tie to put your head together with like-minded people and work on bringing a project to fruition. The Three of Coins is a “teamwork” card, among other things.

This card is about hitting your stride and seeing the early results of something you’ve been working hard on. Sometimes you need help to take it to the next level, even if that comes in the form of a critical eye.

The Three of Pentacles — like all Threes — refers to the initial stages of progress, where you’ve taken an idea (the Ace), put it into production (the Two), and can see it turning into something of value (the Three).

This version of the card — from the Feng Shui Tarot — depicts this energy beautifully with the dragon encircling the stone pillar, staking his claim. There’s a lot of movement and fluidity in this image and it tells you that as long as you don’t get caught up in chasing your tail, you should be able to set your sites on achieving your goals.

The Green Dragon Three says that you’re making progress and should be feeling good about what you’ve accomplished so far. But there’s still work to be done, and you won’t be able to do it alone.

It’s a good time to reach out to others and ask for help if feel you need it. It can’t hurt to offer it to those who might benefit from your assistance as well. You may need a little push to get past a hump, or you may need the discerning eye of someone you trust.
