Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 16, 2015 — The Moon

The Moon

Depending on where in the world you live, today marks the Cancer New Moon (at 00:24 Universal time). This is an interesting New Moon as it falls between two Full Moons this month: the first one July 2nd and the second one — a “blue moon” on the 31st.

You may be feeling confused or uncertain about something and want to get to the bottom of a matter that is not clear. As the Moon card is often associated with deception, you want to take care not to get caught up in other people’s disillusionment, or for that matter even your own.

This is a good time to step back and take a deep breath in order to understand and clarify where “you” are within a situation and to not take things on face value.

A dream is a dream until it becomes reality and the problem with this card is that if you are not well focused on where you stand and allow someone else to call the shots you may end up in a nightmare.

You have the power to control your own destiny. See through the lies and deceit and decide for yourself what is best for you.

The woman in this card — from the Golden Tarot of Klimt. — sleeps peacefully floating around within a galaxy of stars, planets and moons. What is she dreaming about? How long has she been dreaming?

The look on her face is serene as if she is happy just to float on and on in a never ending dream world. When she wakes from her slumber she may find that the dream is nothing like the reality around her. Keep this in mind today as you work to decipher what is real and what is just an illusion around you.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jul 1, 2015 — Ten of Chalices

Ten of Chalices

Ten of Chalices

Today is a good day for finding your center and allowing the Universal blessings of love, gratitude, harmony and grace to flow through you.

The Ten of Chalices — this version from the  Yoga Tarot’s — is a card of serenity, contentment and fulfillment. This ties in beautifully with today’s Venus / Jupiter conjunction which is currently prominent in the evening sky.

An evening star Venus (called Venus Hesperus in astrology) tends to express the Venusian qualities of love, beauty and emotional satiety in a more introspective and purposeful manner — much like the woman in this card.

Add Jupiter to the mix and put them both in Leo and you have a recipe for self-love and personal fulfillment which emanates from you and touches everyone you meet.

There’s a natural harmony and flow in this card, as the woman is seen levitating above a lotus blossom in a classic zen-style lotus pose.

There’s an almost perfect balance between the left and right sides of the card, which are essentially mirror images of one another. The Waves in the background come together and form an elaborate heart.

The Ten of Chalices is a card of gratitude, fulfillment and contentment. It refers to acknowledging all that you have as well as your connections with others. It’s about happiness and security in the areas that matter most — with family, friends and loved ones.

This is not the time to think about what is lacking in your life but rather what makes it complete. And while you don’t want to be resting on your laurels, it’s important to acknowledge those who are most important to you and who keep your cup continuously full.

Take time to meditate today and reflect on the blessings in your life. Like ripples in the pond this card, all that you put out there will  expand out into the Universe and be replenished over time.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 30, 2015 — Nine of Bricks

Nine of Bricks

Today is a good day for quiet reflection and contemplation.

You may be seeking out a peaceful refuge as a means of getting away from the distractions that can prevent you from figuring out what you want out of life.

The Nine of Bricks is the Dante Tarot’s version of traditional tarot’s Nine of Pentacles, which usually refers to not only having what you want but being satisfied with where you are in having attained it.

There is certainly some that same energy here. The woman in this card doesn’t look like she’s lacking in any way. She has a lovely home with a gorgeous panoramic view and enough time on her hands to be able to spend a leisurely afternoon alone with her book and her familiar.

The woman is this card is said to be “Lady Stone,” for whom Dante wrote numerous poems in his youth. She represents a pensive sort of longing and an unrequited love. There’s an ivory tower / untouchable aura surrounding her in this card that renders this correlation plausible.

Venus and Jupiter inconjunct Chiron today as they inch closer to their conjunction. The inconjunct aspect can indicate a sacrifice that must be made in order to attain your ideals. Letting go of something you thought you needed — or discovering that your needs no longer correspond with your desires — are both possibilities.

The Nine of Bricks encourages you to look back over all that you’ve attained and decide whether it’s brought you contentment or complacency. You also want to look at whether the plans you’ve made for your future are still in line with your current worldview. If you’ve come to a point where you realize that all that you wanted has still not brought you happiness, it may be time to make a change.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 25, 2015 — Two of Coins

Two of Coins

Two of Coins

Today you may find yourself juggling the different compartments of your life as you struggle to maintain your equilibrium.

You’re going to need to be flexible and adaptable, and will need to find ways to shift from one task to another without losing focus.

You may also be weighing the pros and cons of an important decision. Whether this is tied to business, relationships, money, or even a new way thinking, it’s bound to be weighing heavily on you.

It could be work and responsibilities vs. pleasure and play. It could be head vs. heart or relationships vs. autonomy. Or it could even be up time (productivity) vs. down time (rest). Whatever it is, you don’t want to be so focused on weighing your options that you lose sight of what’s going on around you.

In this version of the Two of Coins — from Nigel Jackson’s beautiful Medieval Enchantment Tarot — the coins seem to be levitating above the woman’s uplifted hands.

They look identical, and this may refer to their level of importance in the realm of larger considerations. But as far as what you want to accomplish today (as opposed to what needs to get done), they’re probably not equal at all.

You’ll have to figure out what’s most important to you and give that areas more consideration. As Coins also relate to money, you may be trying to decide where to invest your assets. Or you may find yourself juggling finances, as in figuring out which bills to pay and which ones can wait.

Think about what you need to balance in your own life today as opposed to what deserves your undivided attention. It may require levels of skill and dexterity that you didn’t even know you had. If you can pull it off though and find ways to satisfy one area without neglecting the other, it should be tremendously rewarding for you in the end.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 21, 2015 — The Sun

The Sun

The Sun
The Sun moves into Cancer today, marking the Summer Solstice and the longest day of the year, measured by the amount of time between Sunrise and Sunset. This is true for those in the Northern Hemisphere; it’s exactly the opposite (Winter solstice and shortest day of the year) for those in the Southern Hemisphere.

When we think of the Sun, we think of warmth, light and life. It warms our spirits as well as our bodies; it brightens our moods as well as the outside world, and it brings life to our dreams and goals as well as to every living thing on the planet.

The Sun card in the Tarot is much the same way. It refers to the wonder and glory of being alive. Of feeling warm, confident, radiant and spirited. Its attitude is that “everything is as it should be” today, for you and in the world around you.

The Sun in this card — from the gorgeous Tarot of Durer — smiles down on two tiny angels hovering over a tranquil landscape. In the distance you can see a Kingdom set high on a cliff, and below it a sailboat gliding through the water.

But front and center, in the here and now, the focus is on these two little cherubs. They are “in the moment” basking in the warmth of the Sun’s glow and partaking in the earthly bounty that is theirs for the taking.

Offsite things may not be so picture-perfect. We know that there are evils in the world, poverty, sickness and war. We know that it’s not always so easy to live in the moment or be happy with what we have. And this is where the inscription at the bottom of the card — In Hoc signo vincescomes in.

This phrase translates from Latin into “By this sign you will conquer.” It was seen in a vision by Constantine the Great and his army just before a victorious battle. Later on it was chosen as the motto for the Knights Templar. It means that while there are hardships and difficulties all around us, we do have the power to rise up and overcome.

As we move into the Solstice today and embark on a new season, take the time to think about what is right in your world. What hardships you’ve been able to overcome and what messages you’ll want to carry forward. The Sun card reminds you that there is much to be thankful for and that spreading your own warmth onto others can go a long ways toward healing our planet.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 19, 2015 — Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

What do you do when you find yourself mulling over what you want to do in a situation when one part knows what you want and the other part does not?

Usually you find yourself getting pulled back into the situation going against all the logic you have used in getting away from it in the first place. Sound familiar?  Swords stand for thoughts and here it is your thoughts rather than your emotions that are pulling you back.

The Seven of Swords — this version from the beautiful Golden Tarot of Klimt — says that you can run but you can’t hide… well not until you get your thoughts in order and decide if you stay or go.

The images of the three women in this card show different thought processes which are going on in relation to the actions you would like to take. Sometimes you may feel like just sitting back and doing nothing, sometimes you feel like going with the flow, and other times you want to get up and take a stand. Only you will know what is right for you when the time comes.

Until you get your thoughts in line with your emotions though, you’re basically at an impasse where even if you do take action to leave you are pulled back by what may well feel like an undercurrent.

The Seven Swords can act as a barrier, preventing you from moving until you’re clear on the direction you want to go.

Take some time today to think about the options before you. The Seven of Swords is a strategy card, among other things. It won’t do for you to jump up and take action without considering all the possibilities. But if you hold back and deliberate, you are bound to come up with a solution to even the most harrowing dilemma.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 12, 2015 — High Priestess

High Priestess

High Priestess

While you have possibly been feeling a bit trapped and held back in recent days, you are still brimming with ideas. It’s just a matter of releasing yourself from any self imposed doubts or situations that may be holding you back.

Neptune goes retrograde today and Venus sextiles the North Node. Together these transits can act to diffuse the barriers between your conscious and subconscious mind and open you up to more creative and inspirational thinking.

The High Priestess in this card seems to be encased in an ice castle which can double as a prison or a cocoon.

Sometimes when we keep ourselves trapped within a situation or way of thinking we do so to protect ourselves or protect other areas of our lives.

The crown floating about your head implies that you are ready to make changes and fairly brimming with new ideas on how to do so.

First things first though… how will you take the first step to change?

Will you thaw the ice that encases you or will you transform your life and emerge as a butterfly from a cocoon?

Either of these options may not be as difficult as you envisage.

There’s a lot of self love around for you as can be seen from the hand placed over your heart and even though others may think of you as a bit of an ice queen you have the power within you to transform all around you… including yourself.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 11, 2015 — Nine of Pentacles

Nine of Pentacles

Nine of Pentacles

As Mercury turns direct in Gemini today you may feel an urge to take flight. Mercury in Gemini can be a bit “flighty” anyway, but there’s a certain sense of buoyancy that ties in perfectly with the butterfly in this card.

This version of the Nine of Pentacles — from the Tarot Lenormand — depicts an opulent courtyard, complete with a reflection pool, statues, fountains and lush landscaping. And of course the vibrant and colorful butterfly front and center.

Butterflies are also symbols of metamorphosis and transformation, which is interesting in that the corresponding Lenormand card — card number 8 / Nine of Diamonds is the coffin or sarcophagus, another symbol of transformation.

The Nine of Pentacles is traditionally related to be satisfied with where you are in life, especially in terms of the lifestyle and environment that you created for yourself. And there is certainly some of that here in the luxurious landscape and surroundings.

But the Tarot Lenormand version shifts the focus more to rising above the petty or earthly concerns and elevating yourself to something that is rare and beautiful in its own right.

The butterfly in this card is known as a Peacock Butterfly, due to its vibrant coloring and spectacular eyespots. As an animal totem, butterflies represent grace, beauty, curiosity, buoyancy and fragility.

It will be some weeks before Mercury crosses its shadow point (on June 27th), bringing you out of the woods as far as retrograde nuisances go. But you can use this time as a sort of springboard for lifting yourself up breaking free from the shackles that have held you down.

In keeping with the traditional interpretations of the Nine of Pentacles, you want to use this time to balance out the give and take in your life while still maintaining your priorities. Remember that whatever you put out there — whether it’s time, energy, money or yourself — as well as whatever you’re open to receiving, will all balance out and be replenished over time.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 8, 2015 — Nine of Cups

Nine of Cups

Nine of Cups

This should be a calm, peaceful easy day for you with the Sun sextiling Jupiter and the Moon moving into gentle, compassionate Pisces.

The Nine of Cups — this version from Nigel Jackson’s  Medieval Enchantment Tarot — is a card of contentment and complacency. Happiness, fulfillment, Love.

Everything about this card is pleasant and peaceful. There’s a rainbow spanning the sky and stars poking through the billowing clouds. An ornate and graceful heron flies over a kingdom below, while a tiny sailboat sets off for parts unknown.

Think about what makes you happy and chances are good it’s the simple things in life. Home, family, friends, health, material comforts and peace of mind. This is what the Nine of Cups is all about and if you’re not where you want to be just yet, think of ways to change that.

The Nine Cups in this card are always full. They’re filled with love, gratitude and abundance, which are endlessly intertwined. They’re filled with hopes and dreams and miracles which are yours for the taking.

The Nine of Cups is called “Happiness” in some decks and the “Wish card” in others. But those aren’t always the same thing. So be careful what you wish for as it may or may not bring you happiness.

The Nine of Cups is a card of satisfaction, fulfillment and contentment. It speaks of being more than just satisfied with your lot in life, but also feeling truly blessed and grateful with where you are.

Take some time to think about what you really want today — and don’t forget to be grateful for what you already have. There’s an intricate balance between gratitude and personal fulfillment, so make sure you’re putting enough energy and effort into both.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 5, 2015 — Queen of Wands

Queen of Wands

Queen of Wands

Venus enters Leo today and brings with it the opportunity for each of us to shine. This is a regal, noble placement that expresses itself with warmth, dignity, loyalty and creative self-expression.

Today’s card — Queen of Wands — fits this energy perfectly. She’s strong, dynamic, majestic and proud. She’s a natural leader whose confidence and warmth make her stand out in a crowd.

This regal Queen is loaded with Leo symbology. From the flaming Lion statue armrests to the Coat of Arms behind her to the array of Sun- (ruler of Leo) flowers all around her, to her elaborate clothing, headdress and “mane.” The predominant colors — oranges, golds and greens — are also distinctively Leo.

This is a strong, dynamic woman — and not someone to be trifled with. Notice her stern gaze and also the protective watch of her “familiar”seated on her lap. Cats are known as guardians of the Otherworld, and black cats specifically as keepers of life’s secrets and mysteries. She’s seated comfortably but would be ready to pounce at a moment’s notice so you better not cross her.

The Queen of Wands — like all of the court cards in the tarot — can refer to a person, an event or a part of yourself. She embodies the feminine or yin aspects of the Fire (wands) energy: creativity, passion, enthusiasm and drive. She may be a supervisor, a parent, a friend or even some facet of yourself that may have been dormant for far too long.

If this is someone presently in your life (or coming in), know that she’s here to introduce you to the qualities she represents. She has a lot of fiery Goddess energy and can teach you a thing or two about leading with your heart.

If the card refers to you, see it as a reminder that you do possess these qualities and may need to reincorporate them into your personality. The presence of this card encourages you to recapture the essence of the Queen of Wands and put her to good use.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 22, 2015 — Death

Death

Death

Today — as Venus and Pluto oppose one another — you may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice, in the form of giving something up that you’ve been clinging to for far too long.

It may be a relationship, a job, a dream, or even an out-dated belief system that is no longer conducive to your growth. Whatever it is, it’s going to feel like a loss, and may bring with it a period of mourning.

The Death card can be frightening, as it promises both loss and change — two of the scariest notions that any of us are ever faced with. But the Venus / Pluto opposition says that what must be “put to death” becomes so clear to you that you realize you have no other choice.

In this respect, it’s more about leaving behind something that probably wasn’t working for you anyway and moving toward something that you’re naturally more aligned with.

In this version of the card — from Nicoletta Ceccoli’s beautiful Ceccoli Tarot — we see snowflakes fluttering down on the fairytale princess Aurora’s eternal sleep. She’s surrounded by the Seven Dwarfs, who are solemnly paying their last respects. The poisoned apple that caused her demise lays nearby.

But if you remember this story, there is a happy ending. Death brings rebirth and a revival. Aurora finds her Prince Charming and ultimately lives happily ever after.

Sometimes the Universe shows us just what we don’t need by removing it from us forcefully from our grip. In this sense the “death” can be a painful undertaking. But if you choose instead to cooperate, it can be an incredibly liberating experience.

You may have to accept that the very thing you so desperately cling to is the one that’s holding you back. We can say that this ending is pregnant with opportunity: you do have to attend to the business of putting something to rest, but remember that when one door closes another one opens.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 21, 2015 — Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords

Today’s card — Ace of Swords — is all about achieving the kind of clarity that’s necessary to focus your intentions and accomplish your goals.

The Ace of Swords can act as a tool for manifesting. It is raw, pure, unharnessed energy that can be channeled into something both powerful and magical.

It can act as a lightning rod for either positive or negative energy, depending on how it’s used. It refers to getting to the heart of the matter, cutting through the BS, speaking your mind and honoring your truth.

But the Ace of Swords can also be somewhat aggressive and argumentative. When used negatively it really does “cut like a knife” with respect to cruelty or hurtful words. For this reason it’s sometimes best to put some distance between yourself and whatever outside influences are triggering reactions.

As the Sun moves into Gemini today, you may find yourself dealing with competing urges. You may be torn between different options or feel pulled in different directions. But the Ace of Swords is able to cut through the noise and distractions and can make it easier for you to clear the air enough to make an informed decision.

The woman in this card — from Anna Klaffinger’s gorgeous Anna K. Tarot — has gotten both altitude and distance as she stands on a ledge looking out over the landscape below. She’s got a panoramic view of what lies ahead by standing back and assessing it from afar.

Think about what’s been weighing on your mind that needs to be decided once and for all. And what discussion needs to be had in order to iron out any differences. The Ace of Swords encourages you to speak truthfully, but to do so from the heart.  Be considerate of the feelings of others: remember that words can be both helpful and hurtful, so use yours wisely today.
