Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 25, 2014 — The Serpent

The Serpent

Today’s theme is “out with the old and in with the new” courtesy of a New Moon in Virgo and a Mars/ Saturn conjunction in Scorpio. What better representation of this energy than the Tower card, referred to here as the Serpent or Quickener.

The Tower card normally refers to sudden (or rapid) change — the unexpected dismantling of whatever in your life is in need of a drastic overhaul. It speaks of destruction and deconstruction — the breaking down of whatever’s stagnant or restrictive so that you can rebuild anew.

This is a kinder, gentler version, with the Serpent winding his body around the tower and trying to hold it together. Lightning flashes all around him, but he doesn’t shrink away: he strikes back. Even so you can see that the Tower is crumbling around him.

With Mars and Saturn in conjunction today, you do have some say in how this all plays out. The conjunction implies that there will be some destruction. But it also brings a certain amount of control over what is destroyed and what is salvaged — especially as these planets are coming together in Scorpio.

The Serpent is a symbol of transformation. It’s linked with Scorpio via ancient (Chaldean) astrology as well as to some aspects of the modern-day Scorpio. It sheds its skin, it burrows underground and it’s associated symbolically with Scorpionic traits like depth, danger, sexuality and passion.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 24, 2014 — Judgement

Juddgment

Judgement

Today as Mercury moves into an opposition with Chiron, you may be thinking about the synchronistic events in your life and how all of your actions impact on one another and echo endlessly out into the Universe.

The Judgment card speaks of atonement, forgiveness and unconditional love. These are all qualities you’ll want to keep in mind today, especially if the need to act on any of them resonates with you personally.

This version of the card depicts a scene from Sheherazade’s Arabian Nights, in which a young Jinnī spirit appears in a cemetery to aid the fallen heroine Hassan Badreddine.

While not all Jinn creatures are angelic — in fact they are notoriously malicious — they all possess supernatural powers and are thus able to change the course of life and death. In this tale the young Jinnī’s compassionate service doubles as an act of retribution elsewhere.

Even in this context, the Judgement card has karmic implications. On one hand the Jinnī assists a mortal whose demise was unfair and untimely, thus creating positive karma. And on the other she defies the gods — thus creating negative.

The Judgment card tells us that what goes around comes around — even if not directly, and even if not in this lifetime. It refers to an epiphany or awakening, during which you realize the consequences of your actions and are therefore more inclined to proceed conscientiously.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 23, 2014 — Queen of Wands

Queen of Wands

Today is the last day of Leo — before the the Sun moves into Virgo. And while Leo is best known for making a grand entrance, it’s no stranger to going out with a bang either.

The Moon is also in Leo today and for a period of time it’s situated right between Venus and Jupiter (if you’re up in the wee hours before sunrise, you should be able to see the early stages of this line up, before the Moon takes center stage).

Today’s card — Queen of Wands — fits this energy perfectly. She’s strong, dynamic, majestic and proud. She’s a natural leader whose confidence and warmth make her stand out in a crowd.

This regal Queen is loaded with Leo symbology. From the Lion statue armrests to the Coat of Arms behind her to the array of Sun- (ruler of Leo) flowers all around her, to her elaborate clothing, headdress and “mane.” The predominant colors — oranges, golds and greens — are also distinctively Leo.

This is a strong, dynamic woman — and not someone to be trifled with. Notice her stern gaze and also the protective watch of her “familiar”seated on her lap. Cats are known as guardians of the Otherworld, and black cats specifically as keepers of life’s secrets and mysteries. She’s seated comfortably but would be ready to pounce at a moment’s notice so you better not cross her.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 22, 2014 — Eight of Swords

Eight of Swords

Eight of Swords

Do you ever have a day when what you see isn’t necessarily what you get?

Today may be one of those days as the Moon is Void of Course in Cancer for most of the day, until it moves into Leo in the late afternoon (Eastern time). Mercury and Neptune are still in wide opposition, clouding what is around for you, messing with communications and just generally leading to miscommunications and possibly conflict if you do not make a point of checking the facts of a matter out thoroughly.

Look at the image in this card. The “real life” woman in this image does not correlate at all to the image in the mirror. How often do you find yourself not fitting into an image of yourself that you show to others or that others perceive you to be?

This is the message of the Eight of Swords… to free yourself of the bonds that bind you to what you are thinking of yourself (or a situation you are in) whilst at the same time not taking on the projections and judgements of others or “owning” them as though they were true.

Look to where your thoughts are taking over your reality of who you really are and what you can do.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 21, 2014 — The Universe

The Universe

Elegantly you stand today thinking of your next step forward.

The time has come to take a total look at your life and what you have been doing with it up until now and seek out new adventures and avenues in which to express yourself.

There is no need to hurry as the image in this card suggests that you already know what you want and how to get it… and it won’t be by pushing your way aggressively to your goal.

Rather, it is about laying down the foundations… which you already have… testing them out… which is already done.

Otherwise you wouldn’t be standing there in your bare feet trusting your environment and then looking for the “opening” in your life to launch yourself towards something new.

What you choose to do will come to you gently. It is already flowing through you via your thoughts and emotions as can be seen from the stream meandering through the branches.

The green branch held in the right hand suggests you are rewriting and reimagining everything that you wish to make real whilst the blue vial flows from your left hand giving you further incentive to actualise your dreams.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 20, 2014 — Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Your hopes and dreams swim before you as you sit and ponder what you are going to do today.

You may have a plan that you are keeping it to yourself. From your point of view you have not put the finishing touches to it yet and you do not wish to take your first step but rather wish to wait until everything falls into place.

If you are having problems in a relationship you may not be seeing the other person’s point of view but the views and thoughts that are currently on your mind going around and around in circles and furthering a retreat within you that is surely not doing the relationship any favours.

However, even on saying this it may be what is needed as a situation that has become intolerable for you will require planning and answers as to how you can either fix it or remove yourself.

Notice the image of the lion with the unicorn horn. This may be a mythical creature but it is also a creature that can serve you well if you require self preservation.

It also shows you have a mind that will not only see one way out of your predicament but other perhaps more unusual ways too.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 18, 2014 — The Lovers

The Lovers

There’s a feeling of exuberance around for you today especially when it comes to your love life. With Venus and Jupiter conjunct it is certainly the time to let your hair down and play!

Although the feelings and emotions you feel today may be somewhat like dancing in water as the two figures in this card suggest.

It also shows that the current of emotions swirling around you both are in sync and you are in this together versus being opposed or coming from different directions.

You never know where the feeling or mood will take you but one thing is certain you will only have eyes for each other and it is a day to forget any petty nonsense of the past which may have been coming between you.

The Lovers in this card are portrayed by a pair of mermaids coming together in a loving embrace.

The angelic figure above holds them together as if there is divine intervention looking out over your shoulder just now and a reunion is in order that you may not have seen coming.

As you find yourself caught up in the heady emotions of joy, love and togetherness you might wish to spare a thought for how things could be like this if you only let go of anything from your past that sometimes holds you back.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 16, 2014 — Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords

If there is something you need to tackle today make sure you have your facts straight. The Ace of Swords denotes thoughts, mental agility and the use of this in your life.

It may be that you are trying to decide something and need to weight up both sides of your decision to see what options you have or it may be that you are “hit” with a new idea or thought and want to get it off the ground before the momentum leaves.

Either way this is a great day to flex your mental agility and perhaps put some of it to the test.

If there is anything you have been putting off that requires concentration on your part then you may find that today this concentration comes more easily to you.

You may be quite surprised with what you come up with as the image of the sword in this card looks so solid and stable.

As it cuts its way through the crown you can see there are two different versions of greenery being shown.

On the left is a rather bushy branch with small white flowers and a red rose whilst on the right is a frond with a white rose which basically covers a lot of plants when you come to think of it.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 15, 2014 — Three of Staffs

Tree of Staffs

Three of Staffs

Today’s card, the Three of Staffs from the Alchemical Tarot, is all about preparation, expectation and anticipation — and pretty much in that order. This is the “nothing ventured, nothing gained” card, especially with respect to your long-term goals.

It’s not about standing on the sidelines and waiting for your ship come in. It’s about laying the groundwork for an important project or venture, and the satisfaction that comes with seeing initial results.

The Three of Staffs — Wands in some decks — speaks of sailing off toward new horizons and moving away from what has felt comfortable and routine.

It involves taking risks and being willing to put yourself on the line — knowing with every fiber of you’re being that you’re headed in the right direction.

If you look at the imagery in this version of the card, you can see that it’s not going to be all smooth sailing. You may come upon some choppy waters which will either propel you forward or cause you to capsize.

But this small boat is sturdy and seems to have no problem navigating toward its destination. Notice the red sail — action, energy, movement — and the small “eye” on the hull. Also note that one of the three staffs serves as a mast, reminding us that the boat couldn’t sail without it (or you).

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 14, 2014 — Knight of Pentacles

Knight of Pentacles

Knight of Pentacles

Today you may be taking a more serious look at where you’re heading, with respect to your career, your professional goals, your education, your finances and your “brand.”

The Knight of Pentacles is generally all about taking things slow and steady with a keen eye on the future and the discipline to keep “plodding along” as you move toward your destiny.

As with all the court cards, this can be someone presently in your life (or coming in) or it can represent a frame of mind that’s necessary for you adopt right now.

Don’t make the mistake though of focusing too much on the nuts and bolts of achieving success. If there’s any negative aspect that can be associated with this card it’s usually the dearth of inspiration that can lead to getting stuck in a rut of tedium and routine.

But this Knight of Pentacles doesn’t appear to be lacking in inspiration at all. We see him pausing at the onset of a vibrant and colorful path, reaching up to the heavens. Is he praying for guidance or expressing his gratitude?

The greatest obstacles are behind him. He steps out of the darkness and into the light and sees a great big colorful world out there ahead of him.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 13, 2014 — Page of Cups

Page of Cups

Page of Cups

The Moon is in Pisces (and void of course) today until it moves into Aries mid afternoon.

While you may feel a bit like a fish out of water (courtesy of the VOC Moon), the Page of Cups encourages you to push past your fears and uncertainties and take a leap of faith.

The Page of Cups refers to a sense of child-like wonder and enthusiasm that prompts you to throw caution to the wind and follow your dreams. It’s an exuberant, unrestrained and joyful energy that stems from the expectation that you’ll succeed, rather than worrying that you might fail.

Look at the gleeful little goldfish swimming around the orb on this card. Is it a giant luminescent pearl? Or are we viewing them from above as they leap to freedom from the confines of their fishbowl? It’s all a matter of perspective.

The Page of Cups is fearless, because he (or she) doesn’t know that there’s any real danger out there. And as such, s/he’s unlikely to attract it. S/he knows instinctively that the Universe is abundant and that the well will never run dry.

From a feng shui perspective, three goldfish are said to represent fortune and prosperity. And the Page of Cups is often associated with receiving good news.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Aug 12, 2014 — The Sun

Sun

The Sun

Venus moves into Leo today and brings with it the flamboyance of the peacock and the warmth of the Sun.

The Sun card (following on the heals of the Moon card a few days ago) is all about optimism, enthusiasm and personal radiance. It’s about allowing yourself to “shine,” without any pretense or constraint.

Where the Moon card can reflect your doubts and uncertainties, the Sun reflects your strengths and capabilities. It’s about following your bliss and manifesting your own personal radiance.

The woman in this card could probably use a spot of Sun. She looks off over her shoulder at something (or someone) that’s caused her obvious distress. In the foreground is a peacock — looking off in the same direction. And notice the child’s hand reaching up from the bottom of the card.

The Sun reflects your own inner light and inspires you to let it shine. It encourages you to say yes to life rather than letting your troubles hold you back. It tells you to turn your face to the Sun rather rather than looking back over your shoulder toward whatever caused you to dim your light in the first place.
