Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 21, 2014 — The Sun

the Sun

The Sun

The Sun enters Cancer today which heralds the Summer Solstice… the longest day of the year if you are in the northern hemisphere and if, like myself, you are in the southern hemisphere comfort yourself in the knowledge that after today the nights can only get shorter.

In this version of the Sun we see a figure floating towards the sun with arms outstretch as if to say… I am here, I am ready, I am open to new experiences and not afraid at what will come next.

Notice how the Sun also looks as if it is in an eclipse formation which only goes to highlight more strongly the influence the Sun has today on our lives.

It is a masculine energy and it is at its peak and ready to bestow upon you all the energy you need to complete that which you most desire.

It may be that you are feeling alone in what you wish to do as the fish shaped balloons carrying other people go their merry way wrapped in their own lives and their own dreams.

Looking below you see a stream which reflects back to you from where you came. However, take a closer look and this “stream” may not be what it first appears.

Free Daily Tarotscope — June 20, 2014 — The Hierophant

Hierophant

The Hierophant

Today as Chiron turns retrograde, you might be looking at how some of your own life experiences — including those that have brought you pain — have led you to express more kindness, compassion and understanding toward others.

Chiron was known as the “Wounded Healer” in Greek mythology. Chiron the planet represents a similar dynamic in astrology. It refers to the point of “woundedness” — which so often results in immense compassion and understanding — in the natal  chart.

Unlike other savage and unruly Centaurs, Chiron was intelligent, wise and humble. He was a teacher as well as a healer. He taught medicine to the ruling class from a specially prepared cave. He was known as a great healer, but having been accidentally pricked by a poisoned arrow, was unable to heal himself.

I love this version of the Hierophant card, which is usually so steeped in traditional religious symbolism that it’s hard for many to relate to. But all of us have a vast amount of untapped wisdom locked away in our own private “caves.” Sometimes this wisdom is hidden even from ourselves. And this is where embracing the Chiron retrograde archetype comes in.

This is a time of turning inward and accessing previously undiscovered gifts. Often it’s those experiences that have broken us down that lend themselves to our greatest strengths. The retrograde encourages us to look within and to break through some of the traumas that have been holding us back.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 19, 2014 — Knight of Cups

Knight of Cups

Knight of Cups

It’s a big day today with the Sun conjunct Mercury which is still retrograde, as you may have already guessed from everything going a bit crazy around you.

So with that said and today looking as if retrograde Mercury will be hit with a dose of sunshine directly within its path you can look forward (or not) to things maybe going a bit more haywire than they have recently been.

In rides the Knight of Cups to add a bit of flare and drama to what is otherwise a day of needing to keep your wits about you so you don’t lose any more of your precious time trying to sort out the messes Mercury retrograde has been making.

Perhaps your partner will try to finally sit down with you today and talk things through. Well don’t go looking for any answers all at once because from the look of the image of the Knight of Cups he may have his emotions laid out for everyone to see but he doesn’t look as if he has any control or an inkling of what he really feels and/or wants underneath.

For this reason you need to hear him out with an open mind (and heart) and not make any sudden decisions yourself until things have calmed down.

If you lay one more thing at his feet he may either a) jump up to try to fix it quickly without thinking what he is saying or b) it will be the last straw for him and he’ll turn and run.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 18, 2014 — Temperance

Temperance

Temperance

With Venus sextiling Jupiter today it is only fitting to see the card of Temperance weaving the magic of her dance whilst delivering to you a vision of how you would like your life to be.

Today is a day where you may dream and if you turn yourself over to the process of dreaming of what you want then don’t do it in a small way… make the dreams big!

With Venus and Jupiter sextile there is the implications that your dreams of the romantic nature and with the luck Jupiter usually bestows being in harmony with Venus, planet of love, your are sure to be having positive thoughts and feelings alongside big ideas on how to capture that which is closest to your heart’s desire.

There is a certain amount of balance in this card where your cup is neither full nor empty. You have one foot in and one foot out of a situation but are not fully immersed in the outcome which leaves you room to change your position. Emotionally you are balanced, you feel centred and at peace.

If you have decisions to make today is a great day to make them as you are not being pulled in one direction over another.

The bright pink wings speak of love… the kind of love that is exciting and dizzying. Whichever path you decide to go down it is a win/win for you.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 17, 2014 — Three of Swords

Three of Swords

Three of Swords

While Mercury moves back into Gemini today — the sign it rules — it’s also still retrograde. This can be a bit of a double edge-sword (or three of them in the case of this card) as it can increase the disagreements and miscommunications that are associated with Mercury retrograde.

The Three of Swords is often associated with emotional disharmony, heartache and separation. And you could be dealing with the fallout from this very thing today. But keep in mind that disharmony is usually rooted in misunderstanding, or at the very least a misassumption about your role in someone else’s life.

Mercury at 29° Gemini is conjunct the fixed star Betelgeuse, which is favorable in general but can also be quite volatile. Betelgeuse is said to have Mercury and Mars undertones, which can contribute to the harsh words and snap decisions that lead to the heartache associated with this card.

In this version of the card there are three Swords lancing a serpent-entwined egg — known as the Orphic or Cosmological Egg. This represents the seed of life — that from which all else springs — as well its infinite potential.

In this respect it can be said that the swords lancing it represent a necessary separation. A need to “cut through” that which is no longer serving you, in the spirit of making room for what does.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 16, 2014 — Knight of Wands

Knight of Wands

Knight of Wands

Today you may have to reach into your inner reserves of confidence and courage to go after your dreams.

The Knight of Wands is all about passion, inspiration and adventure. You may have taken the seed of an idea (as seen with the Page) and turned it into a workable plan. This isn’t some far-fetched scheme. It’s a goal you can actually see yourself reaching at some point in the future.

This Knight of Wands is more composed than so many of the other versions. Rather than rearing back on his steed and charging off toward the horizon, this one trains his eye on far-off vistas, measuring the steps it will take for him to get from here to there.

You may be considering a major undertaking: going back to school, launching a new career, embarking on a spiritual adventure, etc. Whatever it is, know that it will serve you well to adopt a similar stance.

While there is a definite “spirit of adventure” associated with the Knight of Wands, it helps to pace yourself (like the version in this card) rather than to charge off after something that you haven’t quite figured out.

You can’t know all the answers: even this Knight doesn’t know what’s on the other side of that cliff. But you can increase your odds of succeeding by adopting a “look before you leap” attitude, for this or any venture.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 15, 2014 — Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles

This may be a day of hard work for you but does it really need to be that way? If you look at the scene bathed in sunlight through the stone slab what do you see and what does it represent for you?

The stone pillars show that there is hard work that is needed, laying the foundations down to get what you want and also perhaps putting in a little of your imagination into things to get what you want in the process.

In the pillars of stone surrounding the image you will see a crescent moon on top of the stone pillars which looks to sit on top of two stone hands clasped together.

Such is the effort you are willing to put into your current project to reach your dreams… it is as if you rule yourself with an iron fist and will not take any setbacks sitting down.

So what is it you have been forging to build and how much effort have you been putting into it possibly at the expense of other areas of your life and people being neglected?

The dream you are searching for is already in front of you and what a glorious sight it already is. A beautiful clear summer’s day, a calm sea and the sun shining without interruption.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 14, 2014 — the Phoenix

the Phoenix

The Phoenix

With Mars squaring Pluto today, you may feel like your carefully constructed world is falling apart all around you.

The Tower card refers to abrupt and unsettling changes that can take you outside of your comfort zone, through the sense that everything happening around you is completely outside of your control.

This version of the card — called the Phoenix in this deck — puts some of those challenges into perspective. The references here are less about destruction and more about transformation.

The destruction is evident — and necessary — but the focus shifts to what is accomplished and gained by letting go of all that ‘s been holding you back.

There are trial by fire connotations here, in addition to the obvious alchemical references. Notice that the Phoenix is not just rising out of the ashes, but also rising above the tumultuous waves of emotion.

It may be that your belief systems are being challenged by others. Or maybe you’re witnessing the people and things you’ve held onto so desperately are now being be ripped from your grasp. The message behind the Phoenix card is the same for both scenarios: it’s the Universe’s way of showing you what you don’t need by removing it from your life.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 13, 2014 — the Hermit

The Hermit

The Hermit

There’s a lot to be said for inner healing today as Chiron trines Saturn and sextiles Jupiter. This version of the Hermit will no doubt have you digging in deep to your emotions in an effort to bring to the surface that which is possibly hidden to you and is now on the verge of becoming illuminated.

This may not be an easy thing to do considering Venus and Saturn are also in opposition today so that which you discover may play on your mind and dance around your soul as you endeavour to draw it out and shed new light on it.

Not that I’m wanting to worry you in what you might discover. Step back and study the Hermit card. Look into the crystalline structure that is illuminated by your light and listen to what it has to say to you.

You are protected from any outside forces that try to endanger you as can be seen by the four animals on each corner of the card alongside the circular pattern that seems to immerse and enmesh you within the one way view into the deeps of your own thoughts and feelings.

This is not a day for partying or spending around a lot of people. You need the quietness of your own mind to work through what you wish to discover and make headway on.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 12, 2014 — Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

You may have so much on your plate today that it feels like “rush rush rush” for you as you scramble to get things accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is all about action, progress and momentum. It’s about getting things done and making things happen.

It may be as simple as ticking off all the little things on your to-do list, and it may be as significant as making great headway on an important project.

While it might feel to you like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, you could be surprised when the day is over to see how much you really accomplished.

The Eight of Wands is a high energy card and also sometimes refers to travel. In that respect it  relates to being literally and physically on the go. Are you planning a weekend getaway? Use this extra energy to make preparations for your trip.

Look at the Eight Unicorns galloping down the canyon on this card. They’re raring to go and although not all of them are moving in the same direction, they’ all appear to know exactly where they’re going.

The Moon is in Sagittarius today. Although it’s not quite full, it’s getting there and will be by the time the weekend rolls around.

Think about what it is you want to accomplish right now. The Eight of Wands encourages you to take the initiative and to get the ball rolling.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 11, 2014 — Six of Swords

Six of Swords

Six of Swords

You may be on the verge of making important changes in your life, and in doing so will have to think about what you’re taking with you and what you need to leave behind.

This doesn’t necessarily mean material things; in fact that’s rarely what it means. It’s more about attitudes and belief systems, as well as a life you may have built and dreams you may have dreamed that are no longer capable of sustaining you.

The Six of Swords is a card of transition and change. Moving from one “place” to another, if only in your mind. Notice how the woman in this card is huddled and shrouded from view. She’s protecting herself from more than just the elements.

She may be mourning the loss of her previous existence, or she may be reflecting on the choices she’s made to leave it all behind. Either way, she’s put her faith in the ferryman to get to her safely to her new destination.

Notice too that while the waves are choppy beneath them, they start to smooth out the closer they get to the other shore. And speaking of that other shore, the landscape’s silhouette appears to be promising. It’s lush, flourishing and full of potential.

This is the message behind the Six of Swords. You may not be where you want to be just yet, but you’re moving in the right direction.

Free Daily Tarotscope — June 10, 2014 — King of Cups

 King of Cups

Today is all about getting in touch with your feelings and emotions. As with all of the court cards, the King of Cups may refer to an individual in your life, or it may represent an attitude of mindset that you need to adopt.

In this version of the card, we see the Greek god Orpheus, son of Apollo and Calliope, known as a passionate and loving priest. He sits on golden throne at the edge of the sea, a chalice in one hand and his lyre in the other. A pair of crabs, the symbol for the astrological sign of Cancer, are etched into the armrests, while another crab — this time a living one — emerges from the sea and scuttles onto the base of his throne.

Today’s Moon is in watery Scorpio, and for at least part of the day conjunct Saturn and in trine to both Jupiter and Chiron. The conjunction with Saturn lends an air of authority and discipline, while the trines to Jupiter and Chiron add sensitivity, vulnerability and compassion. What better representative of those energies than Orpheus himself?

Orpheus was a great minstrel whose hauntingly beautiful melodies not only lulled the sleepless dragon to sleep, but gained him entrance into the Underworld to retrieve his beloved Eurydice, after her tragic death. And retrieve her he did, almost making it back to the entrance before he defied the god Hades’ one condition: “Don’t look back.”
