Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 17, 2014 — The Star

the Star

The Star

In the midst of so many turbulent transits there’s still always a bit of hope — and today is no exception.

As Venus and Jupiter — known astrologically as the lesser and greater benefics — come together in harmony, it’s the perfect time to be thinking about what is right in the world, rather than what is wrong.

In this version of the card we see a Mermaid transferring water from an urn back into the sea from which she came. She’s perched on the edge of the shore with only her tail and a few strands of hair still immersed.

A sky full of stars twinkle and revolve around one larger “wishing star,” while two fish swim close to the water’s edge. The Hebrew letter Ayin (insight, illumination, spiritual awareness) is imprinted on the lower left.

The Star card is associated with Aquarius as the Water Bearer archetype. Yet there is something decidedly Piscean about this version of the card (and most versions of the Star card in my opinion). It is a card of hope, compassion, inspiration, intuition and faith.

It’s the sense we have that everything will be alright — even if we have to push past our own doubts and fears. It’s also about transmuting those fears and finding a productive outlet for them. Art, music, poetry, dance, creative self-expression are all very meaningful manifestations of the Star card’s energy.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 16, 2014 — King of Cups

King of Cups

King of Cups

The King of Cups is intuitive, sensitive and wise.  And in this version, he is a she. And what, pray tell, do you think she is doing looking like a little girl in a nursery playing with her toys? If you look closely though you will see that the gown she is wearing actually mimics that of a sea.

The boat, with the young man… whose hands are held out to her, is actually sailing towards her and the sea dragons who surround him in an effort to hold him back are also creatures within the “sea” of her dress.

Today the moon is in Scorpio and it follows close on the heels of yesterday’s full moon eclipse in Libra. Whilst Libra is the sign connected to relationships… Scorpio is the sign of secrets and our unconscious desires. It is a sign of intensity and no half measures yet this image of the King of Cups says it’s ok to play around a little with what you are feeling, nothing is going to come up and grab you as long as you keep the “nightmares” away from you.

These nightmares may encompass a relationship where you are keeping the other person at arm’s length in a bid to keep yourself safe because your feelings have been hurt in the past and you are not willing to open your heart again and let them in.

If you find this is the case and the other person is willing to go through thick and thin to break down your barriers even at great risk to themselves then you may wish to cut them some slack and shake out those demons which are not only holding you back but holding the whole situation back as they stop anyone getting close to you.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 15, 2014 — High Priestess

High Priestess

High Priestess

As the cycle of the full moon is upon us today together with an eclipse it is time to go within yourself and call upon your intuitive gifts to assist you in getting what you want.

You don’t need to force anything as the card of the High Priestess is not about force, rather, it is about delving deep within yourself and aligning your own higher power to use in manifesting the life you desire.

Notice how the woman sits on the earth for grounding, leaning against the tree for nourishment while she turns her head towards the sky, although not quite high enough to see the moon as it reaches its state of fullness.

She holds within her hand the moon depicted at the beginning of its cycle which occurred about 2 weeks ago in the sign of Gemini… a sign known for its quick thinking and mental agility.

Today’s full moon eclipse occurs in the sign of Libra, another air sign possessing the qualities of balance and fairness and it is within these qualities that you can turn in order to draw on your strength to accomplish that which you desire.

The High Priestess is a card of knowledge specifically drawn upon from esoteric teachings.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 14, 2014 — Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

Today you might need to act swiftly and decisively, especially if you’re wanting to strike while the iron is hot or jump on an opportunity before it’s too late.

The Seven of Swords is all about guile and mental acuity. It speaks of stealth, cunning and ingenuity, which may require you to keep your plans under wraps or to act entirely on your own.

In some versions of this card, the emphasis is on treachery and evasion. And you do want to be on your guard against suspicious actions and behaviors.

Feeling like you’re being spied on, cheated, stolen from, or lied too are all common aspects of this card.

But this rendition emphasizes planning, cunning, ingenuity and problem-solving. Notice the protagonist deftly slipping away from the sleeping Dragon as he makes his escape.

He’s crept into the Dragon’s lair and has stolen 5 of the 7 swords. Now he must carefully retrace his steps as he makes his way toward the exit.

He must maintain his composure and not lose sight of his mission: one false move could send a river of gold spilling out from under him, which would surely wake the Dragon.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 13, 2014 — Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

Eight of Wands

You may find yourself in the midst of a whirlwind of activity today courtesy of the Eight of Wands. This card is all about action, initiative and movement — getting to point B from point A without a lot of dilly-dallying along the way.

The Eight of Wands (Rods in this deck) often also brings news from afar. It could be a letter, a phone call, a friend request or an invitation. It can also refer to someone delivering news (or you delivering news to another).

This version of the card is full of action. As usual with the Eight of Wands there’s a lot going on. We see the legendary Herla’s Hounds — phantom hounds sent to drag the souls of hapless mortals into the underground.

They surge across the countryside, even knocking down one of the 8 posts on their way. The huntsmen soaring above them are also a part of the legend: note the one turning to dust and dissolving into nothingness.

The Eight of Wands refers to swift movement and progress. It’s action, energy and motion. But the imagery in this card must also remind us to be careful and exercise some discipline as there are potential ramifications to pushing too hard or rushing too fast.

As Wands are tied to the Fire element, we automatically associate cards in this suit with expressive, dynamic and creative energy.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 12, 2014 — Nine of Pentacles

Nine of Pentacles

Nine of Pentacles

The Nine of Pentacles implies success and satisfaction with career and financial matters. However, take a closer look at the imagery in this particular card and you may find that all is not as it seems.

I’m not saying you should not feel more than a bit smug with your achievements but you may find you have an “itch” to try something different.

Do you find thoughts keep coming into your mind that you want to change something? Perhaps your job, your beliefs on success and what it personally means to you?

If you look at this card you will see 6 pentacles are on one side (left hand side) and 3 pentacles on the other (right hand side).

Take a sneaky look on the ground under the 6 pentacles and you will see a snail so perhaps the accumulation of your wealth, knowledge and security is actually making you feel as if your life is moving at a slower pace (a snail’s pace).

Now look at the side of the card with the 3 pentacles and you’ll notice an almost mirrored version of the left-hand side… the difference being there is less on the right hand side (3 pentacles) which implies if you make a decision to go in a different direction you will have less in some ways but you may actually gain in other ways.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 11, 2014 — Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups

 Ace of Cups

The suit of cups denotes feelings and the Ace of Cups is no exception.  It speaks of love.  Whether this is love of self or love within a relationship it forces you to look at it and what it means for you.

In this version of the card we see a white dove perched precariously on top of the cup which looks as if it is about to tumble into a stormy sea.  Water (the sea) stands for emotions and these are looking a bit turbulent as the waves break onto what is left of the headland upon which the cup sits.

You may wish to keep in mind that even though things within your relationship (or within yourself) are not all smooth sailing you can endure through most of it and stick things out for another day (as with the farmer in the background who has been attending the fields). Underneath the cup is the field the farmer has been attending to.  Look at all the hard work he has put into it only leaving a few weeds out towards the headland overlooking the sea.  Love sometimes is not all smooth sailing.

There are ups and downs and there is endurance where both people know each other so well that there is no need to speak things through as the underlying feeling of love between them means they know the relationship will endure even through hard times and they’re both willing to put the work into the relationship to make this happen without the need for a “pat on the back” or acknowledgement from their partner.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 10, 2014 — Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Two of Wands

Today’s Aries Sun / Leo Moon combination is perfect for taking the spark of an idea and turning it into something powerful and tangible.

The Two of Wands speaks of that creative life force that propels each of us forward, whether we’re aware of it or not. It may be dormant or unconscious or buried under fear, but it’s there nevertheless.

The constellation referenced by this card — Cetus — is much the same: its borders are just outside the boundaries of the official zodiac; yet the ecliptic passes so close to it and even dips just inside of its borders that the Sun, Moon and planets do cross over from time to time.

The Sea Monster for which Cetus is named carries with it both positive and negative connotations — in keeping with the dual nature of the Two of Wands. In some stories it refers to fearlessness and heroism. And in some it relates to misfortune and calamity.

The Two of Wands is all about getting in touch with your own personal power.  It’s about boldness, bravery and certainty — all of which must be accessed in order to “slay” the monster.

It’s the Sun in Aries’ ability to stand up against fears and refuse to back down. And it’s the Leo ability to ignite those impulses and turn them into something meaningful.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 9, 2014 — Lust

Lust

Lust

Today is a good day to set aside your fears and inhibitions, and embrace the many blessings that the Universe has to offer you.

The Lust card replaces the “Strength” card in traditional tarot. The main difference is the emphasis on embracing passion and desire rather than attempting to contain it. It is a card of joy, exuberance and passion — ruled by Leo (which is where the Moon is today and tomorrow) in its most unrestrained form.

In this version of the card we see a woman reclining on the back of a beast with seven heads. These are the heads of a poet, an angel, a saint, an adulterous woman, a man of valor, a satyr and a lion-serpent.

She holds the beast’s reins in one hand, and lifts up the Holy Grail in the other. The ten circles in the background are the unordered Sephiroth, which have yet to coalesce into the Tree of Life.

Legend has it that the woman and beast are united in marriage. She is drunk with ecstasy, and he is aflame with passion and desire. The Lust card is associated with Leo, and is said to be the most powerful of the twelve zodiac trumps, as it is ruled by the Sun. It is associated with the Kerub of Fire — the Winged Lion guardian of the Temple.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 8, 2014 — The Sun

the Sun

The Sun

Today the Sun is in opposition to Mars which is a very energetic aspect to have and one that requires care in handling. If you think of Mars (planet of war and action) being opposite the Sun which is the core of the solar system then you get the general idea that things could go wrong today in a very big way OR they could go straight to plan with a few surprises that get you to your goal.

One thing is for sure it is not a boring day.  If you think of an opposition as 180 degrees with the Sun at one side and Mars at the other and imagine what you find in the middle… good old planet Earth where you reside then you get the gist of the energy around for you today.

The card of the Sun for today’s tarotscope beautifully depicts the balance you will need today.Remember two feet on the ground, body open to the sun soaking up its rays and energy to enliven you and your hands pointing towards the heavens where a phoenix with a tail of fire seems to be laughing as it flies away from you.

Do not let things get out of hand today as you may have a hard time reigning in what it is you want to happen and what is actually happening around you. Get very clear in your own mind what you need to do but don’t be so rigid that if something goes a little amiss then you are thrown into a state of panic because Mars could make that panic turn into something more than it actually needs to be… such as an explosive argument.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 7, 2014 — Page of Wands

Page of Wands

Mercury moves into Aries today so be ready to wash aside all of the miscommunications, frustrations and slowness that you may have experienced over the last few months, especially given that Mercury was retrograde during part of that time.

Mercury in Aries is fast, direct, impatient and does not have time to think through all the in’s and out’s of everything.

This is a time about “thinking on your feet”, coming up with answers from the “top of your head” and generally listening to yourself in every which way that matters… even the wrong ways.

The Page of Wands is a card of news.  Now it may be a letter, email, phone call you are waiting for which is of importance to you and heralds forth a new idea or path in your life.  Whatever it is Wands denote that it happens quickly and with the Page of Wands you may wish to think more carefully about what you will do with the information when it does come.

Look a the way the rabbit in this card walks with a certain attitude that it cares for nothing else but the importance of itself and its own ideas.  It is not worried about where it is going or where it has come from.  What matters most is what it is thinking and where these thoughts can take it.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 6, 2014 — Moon in Cancer

Moon in Cancer

Moon in Cancer

You may find yourself longing for the closeness and comfort of home today. With the Moon in its own sign (Cancer) and conjuncting Jupiter today, you may feel an urge to connect more intimately with loved ones and family members.

You may also be be feeling sentimental and nostalgic, reminiscing about the past and longing for a simpler time. The Cancer archetype is about feelings and emotions, home, family, childhood, the past, etc.

It is a feminine archetype, nurturing and mothering, as so beautifully depicted in this card. Here we see the ultimate mother archetype — the Virgin Mother — who appears as an angel rising up from the sea, cradling her son in her arms. The full Moon is reflected in the surface waters and the stars that make up her halo are also shining in the night sky.

The Moon / Jupiter conjunction (at 5:32pm EDT) takes place at 11°59′ Cancer — the Sabian symbol for which is “A Chinese Woman Nursing a Baby Whose Aura Reveals Him to be the Reincarnation of a Great Teacher.”

This symbol refers to the spiritual legacies that are realized through deep emotional bonds, such as a past life connection or an encounter with a child who unexpectedly opens an evolutionary gateway for you.
