Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 22, 2014 — the Moon

Moon

the Moon

Today’s New Moon is at 0° Sagittarius. It marks the culmination of the lunar cycle, from new to full and then back again. But this particular New Moon’s theme is repeated, with both the Sun and Moon moving into a new sign (Sagittarius) at the same time.

The November Full Moon is known as the “Beaver Moon,” and while we see a rabbit in this version (rather than a beaver), it’s also called the  “Full Frost Moon” which is depicted beautifully in this card.

So is the juxtaposition between new (zero degrees) and full (the last full Moon, on November 6th), in the reflected imagery of this card. The Full Moon sits high in the sky, while the New Moon is transposed below and reflected in the icy sheen of the frozen stream.

If you look closely you’ll see that everything reflected in the stream is slightly different than it’s literal version. The Full and New Moons are obvious. But the rabbit’s reflection is inverted and the constellations around the moon become ripples in the stream. Even the stars in the night sky look like swirling snowflakes in the stream’s reflection.

This ties in to one of the main differences between the astrological Sun and Moon. In keeping with the Hermetic principles of “As above, so below; as within so without,” we understand that the Moon reflects the Sun’s light and thus represents the internal aspects of our psyches.

Traditional interpretations of the Moon card include things like confusion, doubt and uncertainty. And while some of that may be reflected here — with the paradoxical inverted reflections — there’s also a lot of clarity here. The night is crisp, the stars are bright and the rabbit is fully engaged in getting a closer look at that New Moon.

With that in mind, today is not only a  good day to think about fresh ideas, initiating projects and New (Moon) beginnings, but also good for exploring and embracing your rich inner world.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 21, 2014 — Six of Flames

Six of Flames

Six of Flames

Today you may find yourself up against an opponent, or dealing with someone whose fury and aggression feels like an outright attack.

This could be a relationship partner, a co-worker or even a complete stranger who is so consumed with rage that he or she lashes out with little or no provocation.

Fortunately for you the tools for dealing with this kind of bully are right there at your disposal. With Mercury and Mars in sextile today, you should be clear-headed and quick-thinking enough to steer your way clear of any danger.

The Six of Flames — from the Dante Tarot — is this deck’s version of the Six of Swords. But this is not your typical dime-store Six of Swords. In fact most of the symbolism for cards in this deck — intuitive or otherwise — veers dramatically from standard Rider-Waite interpretations.

This version is far more aggressive, and far more threatening, although — as with traditional interpretations — some things are cleared up and some are resolved.

The central figure in this card is a three-headed hellhound, the famed mythical Cerberus or guard dog of the Underworld. He looms over the cowering sinners in the foreground, keeping them at bay. Notice that the sky behind the clouds at the top of the card is also black.

In the story-line from the Divine Comedy that this card references, Dante is able to get answers to some of the questions he can’t get in the living world. They’re not all answers he’s happy to hear. But they do provide him with insight and clarity.

There’s also an act of ingenuity (Mercury sextile Mars) wherein Dante and his companion slip past the beast by distracting it with mud.

If you find yourself at odds with someone today ask yourself whether you’re the aggressor or the victim and what you can do to balance that energy out. The Mars / Mercury aspect says you have to use your head (Mercury) but it also serves as a reminder that you need to stand up and face your challengers (Mars) rather than allowing them to back you down.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 20, 2014 — Seven of Tulips

Seven of Tulips

Seven of Tulips

If you aren’t careful with what you are doing today you may just inadvertently make a huge mistake.

If you have papers to sign, contracts to read over, etc make sure you do so twice and don’t sign anything that you don’t understand.

The Seven of Tulips can be a card of confusion. It can also show that you are away with the fairies somewhat and not completely grounded. This is in keeping with today’s Venus / Neptune square, which can turn wishful thinking into later regrets.

Here we see a cute little rabbit picking pink tulips whilst at the same time not looking at what she is doing and also looking for all the world as if she has her head in the clouds (literally).

The best that can be said is that if there is a middle ground or middle of the road stance for you to take on something today then do it. Don’t rock the boat and don’t go pushing into any arguments that you don’t have any right to be in.

If someone is rocking your boat do not let them goad you. Be on the lookout for the wool being pulled over your eyes too as you may be on the receiving end of a trick or two or from someone who is trying to get the better of you.

If you have a chance today to put your feet up and relax it is a great day to let your imagination soar. You can get through quite a lot by just sitting back and not focussing too hard on any one thing.

Remember today is not a day about “doing” it is a day about doing nothing and at the same time allowing others to not take advantage of you.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 19, 2014 — Nine of Wands

Nine of Wands

Nine of Wands

Today you may be feeling like you’ve given something (or someone) your all and are now *this close* to throwing in the towel.

The Nine of Wands speaks of being on the verge of exhaustion over something you’ve put so much effort into and still haven’t seen the results you’d hoped for.

You may see some sort of resolution in sight, but it’s still a ways off which means even more obstacles and more work than you’re sure you want to trouble with.

So the question becomes what do you do? Do you throw your arms in the air and say I don’t think I can take it anymore? If so you give up all the work you’ve already done and all the momentum you’ve gained.

But if not it means you’re going to have to reach in, dig deep and find the strength, tenacity and fortitude to tackle those final hurdles and keep on going.

The masked figure in this version of the card looks like he’s all but given up. He sits pouting on a ledge in what appears to be a 3-dimensional maze. The staircase beside him threatens to block his every step. But look: there’s another set of stairs and a light glowing in the distance: could it be he’s found the escape route?

The eight wands leading up the first staircase may not be obstacles after all. They may be armholds. And the Ninth wand serves as a torch to both light his path and ignite his resolve.

This is the challenge you’re faced with today. You may be seeing that something you set off to accomplish is not only taken longer than you expected but has also turned into a bigger headache.

But you’re closer to the finish line than you know, and if you just keep going you’ll be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment in the end.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 18, 2014 — King of Pentacles

King of Pentacles

King of Pentacles

You can get down to business today and rest assured that you have both feet planted firmly on the ground with any plan you come up with.

There is a wealth of ideas around for you and despite today’s transit of Saturn conjunct the Sun you find yourself finally receiving that push in the right direction that you have been hoping for.

With Saturn conjuncting the Sun there is the capacity for hard work and a long term plan to get there but there is also the capacity for a bit of negative thinking.

Thoughts that you may not be good enough to reach your goal need to be put into the back of your mind or better yet thrown out of your head altogether.

Mars is also squaring the nodes today which means you may feel some tension as to what you want and the means of getting there together with a sense of fate in that this is what you were meant to be doing. Once again do not be put off with negatives and find a way to turn them into positives.

The King of Pentacles is a great card to have alongside these planetary transits as it forces you to make practical negotiations both with yourself and others when putting your thoughts, plans and ideas into solid action.

You will have the capacity to back up what you want and also the means by which to achieve it.

Do not worry that you are aiming too high for as you can see this King’s feet are planted firmly on the ground almost like tree trunks and the white collar surrounding his neck speaks of purity of thought and heart. Seems like nothing will stop you today!

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 17, 2014 — Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Four of Swords

All things being balanced and even then I guess you have a decision to make.

The way forward for you today may not be as easy as you would like it to be. Both paths look equally appealing and both paths come with different dilemmas.

What will you do next? How will you do it? What will the repercussions of one decision be over another?

All these questions and more will need to be answered today for you to be able to get out of being stuck and confused and left starting at yourself (or selves) in the mirror.

Perhaps you are looking at your dilemma in the wrong way as it seems that whatever you do you come back to face your “self”.

Try stepping out of thinking of the impact of any decisions and choices you make today only affecting you and try weighting up what it may mean for other people.

You may find your way out of the never ending loop of thoughts which seem to be filling not only your consciousness but also your unconscious thoughts including your hopes, dreams and fears.

You certainly have the energy to get what you want but you are holding back for some reason and playing things around in your mind a little more than you need to.

There is a sense of right and wrong, angels and devils in this image…. which one are you and does it make you right or wrong?

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 16, 2014 — The Wanderer

The Wanderer

The Wanderer

Venus enters Sagittarius today, bringing with it the potential for a renewed love (Venus) of travel, adventure and personal expansion (Sagittarius).

The Wanderer card (the Fool, in traditional decks) fits in beautifully with this dynamic, as it relates to being open to new experiences without regard for where they may ultimately lead.

Here we see a young woman striding toward the edge of a cliff, barefoot and unburdened by material possessions. Her arms are wide open and her gait is purposeful, even knowing that the path before her is partially obscured by clouds.

There’s a waterfall on the other side and a shimmering rainbow bridge leading to it, but if you look closely you can also see the rocky terrain far below.

A fall would be treacherous but somehow you know she’s not going to fall. Her faith and her optimism and her willingness to seize the day will see her safely to the other side.

This is the essence of the Wanderer card — and Venus in Sagittarius. It’s about taking a leap of faith and being open to going wherever the moment takes you.

At the same time, Neptune turns direct today. This Neptunian energy is reflected here in the clouds that obscure the Wanderer’s path. It’s also reflected in the concept of surrender (a Neptune key-word) that is a necessary part of taking that leap of faith.

You want to think about these concepts, especially as they apply to opportunities that present themselves to you today. It’s not the time to fret about details or focus on what could possibly go wrong.

You do want to keep your wits about you, and unlike the woman in this card you do want to watch your step. But immersing yourself fully in the journey — rather than thinking too hard or focusing too much on the destination — can open up a whole new world of possibilities for you that you won’t want to miss.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 15, 2014 — Three of Cups

Three of Cups

Three of Cups

It’s the weekend and time to let your hair down, go out and have some fun and generally not worry about a thing.

The Three of Cups stands for happiness and merriment.

Happy times abide and though you soar in the exuberance of the “moment” remember what you do in this moment may have consequences that bring you down to earth (or diving for cover under water) at some point in the future.

There’s a general sense of excitement as you know you are able to let your hair down and be social on oh so many levels.

There’s the level of soaring high and being so engrossed in your own pleasure that you ignore or don’t notice what is going on around you.

And of course, there’s the coming down to earth with a splash where you may have made a fool of yourself and decide that hiding your face for a while is the best thing to do so you are not too embarrassed.

Then there’s all those levels of excitement in between where you can flit from one social engagement to the next or one person to the next just like a butterfly.

You may even like to choose a coloured fin on one of the mermaids and imagine what that colour brings out for you and your mood.

Whatever you choose to do today (or tonight) there is a sense of joy and abandonment of all your worries around it. It’s as if you don’t have a care in the world and from the look on the face of the highest mermaid in this card all your cares and worries are dropping away as you soar higher and higher.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 14, 2014 — Six of Coins

Six of Coins

Six of Coins

Today’s card — the Six of Coins from the charming and whimsical Joie de Vivre Tarot — speaks of aligning yourself with the Universal laws of abundance and prosperity.

It refers to the act of giving and receiving, sharing the wealth and attracting more and more of it into your life through your willingness to trust that it is meant to flow.

The Moon is in Leo today, and is conjuncting Jupiter for a good part of the morning. This transit may be fleeting but while it lasts it can spark in you those warm, fuzzy feelings of benevolence and good will.

The Six of Coins is about giving and receiving. It’s about sharing. It’s about random acts of kindness. And it’s about the exchange of energy — which often takes the form of money or financial assistance.

When you look at the figures in this card you can see how there’s just as much joy in giving as there is in receiving, which is of course exactly as it should be.

Can you even tell who is who in this picture anyway? Who is the benefactor and who is the recipient? Both are giving the other one something. For one it’s the tangible gift of money and for the other it’s the joyful gift of gratitude. Is one more valuable to you than the other?

This is something to think about today. Kindness and consideration, compassion and generosity. But most of all gratitude. These are all Six of Coins attributes.

This isn’t about giving what you can’t afford to give. That can create hardship and ultimately resentment. But notice how the giver in this card has five shiny coins left after he’s given one away. He’s either created enough abundance in his life to feel comfortable passing some of it along, or he’s learned to place more value on the act of giving than the act of hoarding or spending frivolously.

Whether you’re the benefactor today or the recipient, know that this is a never-ending cycle and you’ll find yourself in both roles. Be prepared to jump in and participate fully — either through offering help to another or expressing gratitude for the help you receive.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 13, 2014 — Three of Swords

Three of Swords

 Three of Swords

Mars squares Uranus today, making for a high energy and potentially volatile day. Emotions can be difficult to contain — particularly the more aggressive emotions, like anger, impatience and indignation.

You want to be on your toes, especially where relationships are concerned as you may have to deflect a few daggers that come your way.

The Three of Swords is often seen as pain and heartache, but this version veers so significantly from traditional imagery that it becomes a welcome and refreshing change.

You may not be particularly happy today. You may still feel the sting of rejection or love lost.

But as you can see from the figure in in this card, it’s more about stopping pain in its tracks than it is about allowing it to cut you to your deepest core.

The young warrior in this card is a whirlwind of action and energy. She sees the sword coming at her and acts with deftness and precision.

She wields two swords of her own and uses them to block the third one, thus minimizing the damage done.

This is in keeping with another of todays’ transits — Venus conjunct Saturn. There’s a certain decisiveness that comes with this transit that allows you hold onto your power.

The Three of Swords can refer to deep psychic woulds that are cut open by circumstances beyond your control. Usually a rejection or heartbreak that even if you saw it coming you felt powerless to stop.

But this version tells you that you can take charge of the situation and decide how you want to react to it. You don’t have to suffer needlessly. What happens may be outside of your control but how you respond to it is most definitely not.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 12, 2014 — the High Priestess

High Priestess

High Priestess

There is something about today where you will barely be able to contain your own power. If you have been hoping to be in a position to push something forward in your life then today is the day to do so.

Not only is everything lining up for you it is also doing it in a way where you only have to push a few buttons and presto… the world is your oyster.

With Mercury trine Neptune today you are also in a state of heightened intuition when it comes to “knowing” and you can put this to good use.

The dominance of the colour orange in this card shows you are using your creative energy to get what you desire.

There is no nastiness or meanness to what you are trying to accomplish as the ring of white around your shoulders shows your intentions are pure.

The book in your left hand implies you are using your energy wisely with the back up of wisdom and knowledge whilst the array of purple in the backdrop also strengthens any areas of spirituality around you.

The fields to either side of you show growth in various stages alongside the firm foundation of mature trees in the background.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Nov 11, 2014 — King of Cups

King of Cups

King of Cups

Today’s Moon in Cancer can be a bit tricky. On the one hand it encourages you to immerse yourself fully in the realm of feelings, intuition and emotions.

And on the other hand it spends a good part of the day in hard aspect to Mars, Pluto and Uranus — the three most intense, aggressive and tumultuous planetary energies out there.

What this means for you is that getting in touch with your feelings today can bring some things you’ve been struggling to deal with (or avoiding entirely) to the surface.

Look at the King of Cups in this card. He appears as a Poseidon-like figure, naked (open, receptive, exposed) and submerged in a pond filled with lotus blossoms (purity and enlightenment).

You can see how he’s become almost one with the murky waters that surround him, in fact you can’t tell in some places where the water ends and he begins.

Notice that his trident is also partially submerged and its tines have been distorted by the play of light on the surface of the water.

The King of Cups is about more than just getting in touch with your feelings. It’s about learning contain and control and master them. While it’s clear there is some turbulence in the water that surrounds him, you can see how this King is able to maintain his composure.
