Aries: King of Pentacles

This month, with five planets (and the New Moon) in your 10th house, you’ll be focusing on career and your plans for the future. You might be thinking about starting a business, feathering your nest, or looking for ways to establish security for you and your loved ones.

This is the King of Pentacles from the Gypsy Palace Tarot. He’s a robust and colorful King. He’s clothed in the finest royal attire. He’s vibrant, spirited and energetic: you can see that he’s got places to go. Yet he’s also very open and generous. There’s not an ounce of stinginess or pettiness about this King.

The phrase “if you want something done you may as well do it yourself” speaks directly to you, but may not always be in your best interests. If you struggle with trusting that things will get done without your input, keep in mind that giving up control and allowing others to show you what they’re made of can benefit you more in the end.

Aries: Knight of Pentacles

With your ruler (Mars) now moving through Taurus, you might feel the need to slow down a bit rather than rushing headlong into the next great adventure.

This transit is good for stopping the smell the flowers and for taking your time to appreciate what life has to offer. It’s fitting then that your card this month is the Prisma Visions Tarot’s version of the Knight of Pentacles.

This Knight isn’t galloping off toward the horizon and he’s not racing to the finish line. He’s led his stallion to a lush field of giant strawberries, where both of them can feast.

The Knight of Pentacles (and Mars in Taurus) knows how to make money. But his focus is more on relishing and savoring than it is on taking action.

He’s all about preserving his resources while maximizing his potential, so that he’s always at least one step ahead of the game.

Aries: Six of Swords

WIth your ruling planet (Mars) retrograde for the first part of the month and then moving forward again for the last half, you’re likely going to be similarly changing direction this month. If you’re making big changes, you’ll need to think about what you’re taking with you and what you’re leaving behind.

This isn’t necessarily material things; in fact that’s rarely what it means. It’s more about attitudes and belief systems, as well as a life you may have built and dreams you may have dreamed that are no longer capable of sustaining you.

The Six of Swords is a card of transition and change. It represents moving to a better place, even if only in your mind.

In this version — from the Mary-el Tarot — we see the Archangel Raphael guiding a pair of young children and their dog across a bridge. Where he’s leading them is not seen, but there are elements of safety, protection and comfort in this card, which is a necessary part of trusting in the unknown.

This is the message behind the Six of Swords. You may not be where you want to be just yet, but you’re moving in the right direction.

The Six of Swords reminds us that we’re not alone. We don’t get to the other side without assistance from someone, even when that “assistance” comes in the form of a setback that forces us to change direction.

Aries: Ace of Swords

Your card this month — the Ace of Swords from the beautiful Prisma Visions Tarot — is all about achieving the kind of clarity that’s needed to focus your intentions and accomplish your goals.

The Ace of Swords can act as a tool for manifesting. It is raw, pure, unharnessed energy that can be channeled into something both powerful and magical.

It can act as a lightning rod for either positive or negative energy, depending on how it’s used. It refers to getting to the heart of the matter, cutting through the BS, speaking your mind and honoring your truth.

But the Ace of Swords can also be somewhat aggressive and argumentative. When used negatively it really does “cut like a knife” with respect to cruelty or hurtful words. For this reason it’s sometimes best to put some distance between yourself and whatever outside influences are triggering reactions.

Your ruling planet (Mars) is dignified in Capricorn this month. This is a strong placement, associated with climbing to the top, staking your claim and asserting your power — all of which are so beautifully represented here.

Aries: The Emperor

This month, with 6 planets in your public / professional sector, it’s going to be time to step up and approach your responsibilities with confidence and authority.

The Emperor card — this version from the Ostara Tarot — is all about power, success, reputation and public standing. But these are all relative terms and are not necessarily related to profession. They’re just as likely tied to responsibilities around the home or within a group of peers.

The message behind this card is one of taking care of business. It’s not the time to be passive or wishy-washy. It’s all about stepping up and taking control of a situation that requires a firm hand and authoritative presence.

You may be asking yourself whether you want to be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond. It’s all about gaining perspective and establishing priorities.

Aries: Eight of Wands

This month — with your ruler leaving Cancer and moving into Leo, you might be feeling that it’s time to step out from under your safety net and start thinking about putting your plans into action.

The Eight of Wands is traditionally associated with movement and momentum, and there is some of that going on here. But the central themes in this version — from the Mary-El Tarot — are more about protection and trust, as seen in the tiny figure nestled in the Lion’s arms.

The lion appears as a guardian angel, with a fiery mane and golden-orange wings. Notice the serpent — in the form of a lemniscate or infinity symbol — that encircles the sleeping child.

Also notice the one lion’s paw and one angel’s hand that cradle her sleeping form. A blanket of stars keeps her safe and warm. The symbols of protection and safety are repeated here, as are the themes of divergent forces residing harmoniously in the same space.

In many decks, the Eight of Wands signifies energy, motion and action. And we can surmise that the figure in this card will awaken from her sleep more rested and prepared to move ahead. But her rest is an integral part of her preparation and is just as meaningful.

You may be biding your time this month or preserving your energy in preparation for something ahead. Or you could be trying to find your center in the midst of whatever turbulence surrounds you.

Aries: The Emperor

This month, with 6 planets in your career and money sectors, it ‘s going to be time to step up and approach your responsibilities from a more serious and authoritative standpoint.

The Emperor card is all about power, success, reputation and public standing. But these are all relative terms and are not necessarily related to profession. They’re just as likely tied to responsibilities around the home or within a group of peers.

In this version of the card — from the Stolen Child Tarot — the Emperor is a polar bear looking off into the distance as he keeps protective watch over a young changeling child. The ground is frozen solid, what little brush there is is sparse and snowflakes are falling all around them.

As fierce a guardian as this papa bear may be, there’s a gentle, protective quality about him too. This is in line with Emperor archetype, which is also fatherly and paternal.

ARIES: The Chariot

This month you’ll have Venus retrograding back into your relationship sector while Uranus retrogrades back into your sign. As a result you may feel yourself being torn between the desire to merge with another (Venus) and an overwhelming desire for freedom (Uranus).

Like the Charioteer in this card — from Timothy Lantz’s gorgeous Archeon Tarot — you may be in for a bit of a bumpy ride, at least in the relationship department.

This Charioteer is depicted as warrior goddess, harnessing two vastly opposing energies. The blue and red stallions embody hot and cold (or fire and ice) energies and are rearing up in two different directions.

You may be met with obstacles, but you’re clearly up for the challenge: there is a sense of confidence and strength seen here in the way she takes charge of the two rearing beasts. And there’s a sense of fatedness as well: as in the symbol of the goddess Maat above the moon and the overlay of constellations in the background.

The Moon in the background glows a brilliant gold. It almost looks like a Sun: more “opposing/diverging” symbolism. And yet we see the warrior goddess standing front and dead center, as she strives to restore order to the chaos around her.

You’ll likewise be called upon to both maintain control and harness the opposing forces in your own life. Your challenge will be to find a way to pull your energy inward and funnel it outward into one solid direction.

You can accomplish a lot through sheer force and determination — as long as you’re aware of the need to focus your energy in one primary direction. You’ll have find a way to balance the diverging energies in your life. But if you can “pull it together” you’ll make great strides toward accomplishing your goals.

ARIES: Nine of Cups

Take some time this month to look around you, and see how many of your dreams and wishes have come true.

The Nine of Cups is a called ‘Happiness” in this deck (the beautiful Röhrig Tarot). It’s a card of contentment and fulfillment. It speaks of being more than just satisfied with your lot in life, but also feeling truly blessed and grateful for where you are.

The Nine of Cups is known as the Wish card; in this sense it’s about manifesting your heart’s desires. Nothing is taken for granted and nothing is left to chance. It’s about aligning yourself with the universal laws of attraction and getting what you deserve.

Along with being the “Wish” card, it’s also a card of Miracles. As there’s so much more focus on what one has than what one lacks, it’s easier to notice small miracles and in even the smallest things.

Be careful though that you don’t become too complacent: one of the potential pitfalls with this card is getting exactly what you wished for, only to discover later on that it wasn’t what you wanted in the first place. Because of this, you want to be very mindful of what you ask for — and what you “put out there” — this month.

Think about what makes you happy and chances are good it’s the simple things in life. Home, family, friends, health, material comforts and peace of mind. This is what the Nine of Cups is all about and if you’re not where you want to be just yet, think of ways to change that.

ARIES: The Star

Now is the time to acknowledge your dreams and aspirations. The Star card — this version from the beautiful Japaridze Tarot — is a card of Hope and faith in the Universe. It tells you that in spite of all your trials and tribulations,everything is as it should be, and in the end everything is going to be alright.

You could be feeling a renewed sense of hope about a goal that is now starting to feel more reachable. Or you may be feeling inspired to explore your intuition and psychic impressions.

The Star is all about Universal harmony and synchronicity. It’s about being one with the Universe and feeling connected to every single other living thing.

The Star card is associated with Aquarius as the Water Bearer archetype. It is a card of compassion, inspiration, intuition and faith. It also represents a sense of rebirth and renewal. As it follows the Tower card — which is associated with disaster and destruction — it can serve as a welcome refuge or a beacon of hope.

ARIES: Eight of Wands

The Eight of Wands — this version from the fabulous Gypsy Palace Tarot — refers to progress, mobility and rapid change, usually for the better. This card refers to being decisive, making the most of your time and cutting through whatever distractions stand in your way.
