Five of Cups

Five of Cups

Emotions may be all mixed up for you today and it won’t be easy for you to get a handle on what is actually going on around you. This relates to both yourself and others.

If you have any major decision to make today it may be worthwhile putting it off until this turbulent period settles down.

Sometimes you feel as if you just can’t steer yourself in the right direction and who could blame you with a scene such as this. A turbulent sea, a dark and thunderous sky and a strong wind.

Usually cups stand for emotions and relate to water signs but in this version of the 5 cups it the sky and wind play a huge part in the interpretation.  s the sky and wind both are related to Air signs this implies that your own thoughts are working against you to cause the emotional turmoil you are currently feeling.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 13, 2014 — Princess of Swords

Princess of Swords

Princess of Swords

Are you waiting to hear from someone today or expecting an important message?

Perhaps you’re in the process of negotiating a contract or settlement, and are preparing to sign on the dotted line.

The Princess (or Page) of Swords is a “messenger card.” You may hear from an old friend, receive news, or learn the answer to a nagging question — whether it’s the answer you were hoping for or not.

As with all the court cards, the Princess of Swords card refer to someone in your life (or coming in) or it can refer to a frame of mind that you need to adopt in order to meet your goals. If this is someone in your life now, you can expect her to cut to the chase, not mince words, and tell you the truth without sugar coating it.

In this version of the card, the Princess stands alert in field of wildflowers. A gentle breeze tousles her hair and cloak. Her sword is held high but blade down, and wrapped in a silken ribbon. A bird flies high in the distance, perhaps delivering a message to a far-off place.

The Princesses in the Druid Craft Tarot deck are the female versions of “Pages” in traditional decks. They’re youthful, sensitive, and sincere. They’re full of potential, lacking in worldly experience and sophistication and may be overly idealistic and naive.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 12, 2014 — Intellect

Intellect

Intellect

Today’s Mercury / Mars trine should see you tapping into your own creative potential for inspiration.

The Magician card — called Intellect in this deck — refers to the divine spark that is within all of us, and encourages us to use it to accomplish our goals.

The central figure in this card is a wise old Sage, cloaked in pure white robes and sporting a long white beard, He may be “old” but he’s not weak or feeble. He stands with one hand over his heart and one pointing up toward the heavens.

Intellect doesn’t only mean “intelligence.”  The Sage knows that what is in his heart is just as important as what is in his head when it comes to cultivating awareness and understanding.

The tables on either side of him contain everything he needs to sustain himself and to achieve his goals. There is a wand, a cup, a sword, and a scattering of pentacles. In addition to the tools associated with traditional tarot decks, this version includes a gold chain and a roll with a cross etched into it. These tools are related to Dante’s Convivio that this card is based on. The chain represents wealth and treasure and the roll is referred to as “bread of the angels.”

The Mars / Mercury combination enhances creativity and stimulates intellectual pathways. It also provides clarity and perspective. As these two planets are in air signs, the potential for gaining some spiritual altitude — in the sense of “rising above” and being able to look at things more objectively, is also indicated.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 11, 2014 — Four of Cups

Four of Cups

Are you looking at your relationship now and asking yourself “Is that all there is?” Or perhaps you’re feeling frustrated with the lack of potential partners, and wondering if there’s something you can do to move past that sense of feeling stuck.

The Four of Cups — called “boredom” in this deck — refers to to that nagging feeling of discontent that is associated with the grass being greener on the other side. It can drain your motivation and dull your sense of wonder and inspiration.

Notice the Deer and the Peacock drinking from the waters of life at the bottom corners of this card. And all around the borders are vines growing, lush and fertile. And here you sit in the middle feeling “bored.”

This is not normal boredom either.  It is the type of boredom that originates out of a few frustrations and setbacks that you can’t seem to think your way out of and your thoughts may actually be your worst enemy.

With Mercury squaring Neptune today and Mars in opposition to Venus you can get an idea of where these frustrations are coming from. Although Mercury, ruler of Gemini is in its own sign today along with Neptune, ruler of Pisces in its own sign they are forming a square (90 degree angle) to each other and this spells tension.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 10, 2014 — Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

You may feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders today, which appears to be exactly what’s happening with the young Dryad in this card.

The Ten of Wands refers to a situation that’s so overwhelming and exhausting that you’re left feeling completely spent. You may feel like you’re all alone in the world or that you’re not getting any outside support — which is especially true right now with today’s Sun / Saturn opposition.

What do you think would happen if the Dryad tried to just lay down her load and walk away? Everything would fall apart of course. And the same thing would happen to you.

This is the Ten of Wands dilemma: You can’t just throw in the towel and say “I’m done.” There are obligations and responsibilities to uphold as well as people who depend on you who’d likely be hurt by your neglect.

The question you might want to ask yourself today is this: “Is life (or love) supposed to be this hard?” The value of whatever it is that’s taxed you to your limits probably needs to be reassessed.

A Saturn / Sun opposition can also manifest as a rejection or as an encounter with someone who makes you feel inadequate. Much like the Ten of Wands, it’s the Universe’s way of forcing you to go it alone in order to foster autonomy.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 9, 2014 — Knight of Pentacles

knight of pentacles

Knight of Pentacles

Today you may be taking a more serious look at where you’re heading, with respect to your education, your career or your “brand.”

The Knight of Pentacles is all about taking things slow and steady, with a keen eye on the future and the discipline to keep “plodding along” as he moves toward his ultimate goals.

As with all the court cards, this can be someone presently in your life (or coming in) or it can represent a frame of mind that’s necessary for you adopt right now.

Don’t make the mistake though of focusing too much on the nuts and bolts of achieving success. If there’s any negative aspect that can be associated with this card it’s the dearth of inspiration that can lead to getting stuck in a rut of tedium and routine.

In this version of the card we see the Knight of Pentacles staring off in the distance with his faithful horse at his side. He can see that there are some hurdles to cross to get to where he wants to go, and rather than mounting his horse and making a run for it, he pauses to reflect on the best way to go about it.

Notice how he keeps his money (the pentacle strapped the horse’s side) secure and his weapon at the ready. This is a cautious Knight, and not given to taking unnecessary chances. A messenger pigeon is perched on the crumbling archway above him, looking off toward the distance as well.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 8, 2014 — The Fool

the Fool

The Fool

What is it about today that makes you want to begin something new but you are not quite sure of the best way to go about it or the first step to take?

Opportunity is knocking on your doorstep.  There’s enough energy around you to make you start thinking twice about all that has gone before.

If there is anything around you just now that you have been wanting to change and do in a different way then today is the day to do it.

I’m not saying it will be easy as you may not know “yourself” once you start changing your course and others around you will know you even less but think of where this could take you.

The energy around the Fool  implies that you make decisions that are not based on fact and are more based on instinct.

This is neither good nor bad it is just a different way of approaching a change that may be long overdue.

Any situation that has been holding you back because you kept doing the same thing over and over again and getting nowhere could be instantly transformed into a different direction.

I’m not saying it is the right direction but it may be the impetus you need to propel you out of a bad situation and into something new.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 7, 2014 — Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

Today as Mercury enters Gemini, you want to be thinking about ways to use your ingenuity to work through a problem or to get out of sticky situation.

The Seven of Swords in some decks refers to deception, trickery and duplicity. But when you break it down into its purest essence — Sevens and Swords — you can see that there’s an entire spectrum of manifestations for this archetype.

It speaks of ingenuity, mental acuity and strategy. You have to be quick on your feet to ward off some of the curve-balls that life throws your way, and a Seven of Swords / Mercury in Gemini combination fits that bill perfectly.

In this version of the card we see the Lepus constellation, which is associated with a Hare being chased down by Orion’s hunting dogs Canis Major and Minor. The Hare sits up on his haunches behind a semi-circle configuration of Seven swords. His ears are perked and he’s ready to pounce at a moment’s notice.

This constellation features prominently in some lunar mythology, including the Moon Rabbit. I had never heard of this myth before but was deeply touched when I read it.

Speaking of the Moon, it’s also void of course for most of the day. You would do wise to sit back and observe (like the rabbit figure in this card) rather than taking any important actions today, as a void of course Moon tends to lose steam by the time it reaches the next sign (which will be tomorrow morning).

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 6, 2014 — Wheel of Fortune

wheel of fortune

Wheel of Fortune

As the Sun sextiles Jupiter today it gives you a glimpse of what the Wheel of Fortune is about. We all have periods in our lives where things go and up and down along with our moods.

Usually we try to find balance or equilibrium to help us through the periods where we are not feeling so happy.  It’s a good thing the Sun is sextile Jupiter today for this is indeed a fortuitous aspect of these two planets.

The Sun standing for you and your sense of “self” and Jupiter as the planet of expansion and luck allowing you to push forward with a sense of adventure and explore what is within and around you.

As you can see from this version of the Wheel of Fortune there is an endless cycle of who you are (yourself) on the inside and what is going on around you on the outside (your environment).

The chakra system is clearly marked on the figure within this card which is shown in a meditative pose once again highlighting the need to go within and draw out what is within to balance what is around for you.

The chakra system gives indepth knowledge of how you are functioning physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually whilst the different symbols surrounding the figure display the need to delve deeper into knowledge and use all modes of learning you have to further extend yourself.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 5, 2014 — Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

How often have you been guilty of opening your mouth and saying the first thing that comes to mind, undaunted by the potential for repercussions?

This isn’t an entirely inadmirable quality: after all, you do have much wisdom to impart. But the Queen of Swords appears to you today as a harbinger, heralding a better approach toward meeting your objectives.

It’s a call for you to listen, use your head, think strategically, and make sure that what you say doesn’t get drowned out by all the static reverberating around you.

Look at the imagery in this card. The Queen of Swords is barely visible, half-hidden behind the ravens that are perched on barren branches. Only her eye, peering through the raven’s wing, is clear.

The ravens in this card — Norse mythology’s Huginn and Muninn — are shamanic shape-shifters. They represent Thought (Huginn) and Memory (Muninn) that send Odin to a trance-like state.

An interesting side-note (or synchronicity as this card was pulled without looking at astrological correlations) is Mercury’s conjunction to Algol today. Algol is an eclipsing binary, called the “blinking demon” by some. The image in this card — and the conjunction to Mercury which Jodie Forrest so eloquently referenced above is uncanny.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 4, 2014 — Ten of Cups

Ten of Cups

Ten of Cups

Make some time today to experience some happiness in your life.  Be thankful for everything you have in your life and don’t’ go looking for problems.

This shouldn’t be too difficult with the Moon coming into contact with Jupiter today which should see your emotions overflowing with joy… enough to melt the snow on that mountain in the distance? You bet!

If there has been something you have been troubled over and not sure what you should do about it then perhaps the answer is to do nothing at all. Instead you may wish to be like the butterfly in this card and rise about all that is going on around you seeking out new horizons.

This is not a card about adventures it is more to do with feeling content within yourself and with what you have.  There is no lack in the 10 cups… it is a card of abundance.

Take a leaf out of the image of the flowers blooming on the branches.  Nothing can hold back that growth not even with frosty conditions around.

Today is like that for you… nothing and no one can hold you back.

The reflection of what is in your heart will shine through to yourself and others around you… spread your wings and soar.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 3, 2014 — The Emperor

The Emperor

the Emperor

Today you may find yourself having to assume a position of power in order to “take care of business.”  The Emperor card is all about attending to material concerns, which may mean having to set aside feelings of fear or uncertainty and stepping into a more confident and authoritative role.

The Emperor card is the archetypal “Father.” It embodies the masculine principles of motivation, stability, discipline, structure and rules or laws. As with many of the Major Arcana figures, the Emperor can appear in your life as a person (a father, boss, judge, or government official, etc.); he can represent a frame of mind that you need to assume; or he can appear as an event — such as a promotion or recognition in the community.

As the Emperor also relates to the Laws of the Land, some of the less pleasant manifestations of this card include being on the receiving end of legal or professional disciplinary actions, dealings with the IRS or government, or having to deal with an oppressive boss or co-worker.

In this version of the card, we meet the Emperor Julius Caesar seated at his throne. A Lion rests at his feet and an Eagle is perched on the windowsill beside him.  He holds a small globe in one hand and a sceptre topped by a fleur de lis in his other.

The Lion and Eagle are perfect symbols for today’s Sun trine Pluto aspect. This aspect actually bodes well for working with others.
