Free Daily Tarotscope — May 2, 2014 — Four of Wands

Four of Wands

Four of Wands

Today you may want to pause and reflect on how far you’ve come, as well as where you want to go in the next chapter in your life.

The Four of Wands represents the stage in a project (or relationship, decision, goal, etc.) where you feel satisfied with progress made and are now in the process of gathering momentum.

What was once a dream (the Ace of Wands) that evolved into a plan (Two of Wands) and starting producing results (Three of Wands) is now not only gathering steam but is showing real potential for long term success (Four of Wands),

In this version of the card, we see a gold ring with four wands crossing one another from the center and emanating outwardly like spokes on a wheel. Flames radiate in the center and the wands have alternating rams and doves at their tips.

This card is called “Completion” in this deck and is ruled by Venus in Aries — which is where Venus will be later today. Although Venus is said to be in detriment in Aries (as the sign opposing its ruling sign Libra), there are many positive attributes to this archetype, most notably the dynamic Aries impulse to keep things moving.

Free Daily Tarotscope — May 1, 2014 — Six of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles

Today you may feel the need to reach out and lend a “helping hand” to someone. The Six of Pentacles is all about benevolence — giving what you can afford to give: whether it’s your time, your money or your energy — to someone who needs it more than you.

In this version of the card we see the mirror images of a positive and negative (or black and white) set of hands. Six coins (pentacles) are spread across the images, also in perfect harmony.

As stark as the imagery in this card is, the message is still very clear. Along with the obvious first impression: “one hand washing the other,” there’s an implicit understanding that everything we put out there comes back to us eventually, in one way or another other.

Money is only one form of energy. And yet most of us struggle trying to balance the value we place on it with the value we place on all other forms. We think mainly of money when we think about giving — but with Mercury and Chiron in sextile today, you can bet that the thing that matters most turns out not to be a “thing” at all. It’s more likely to be words of encouragement, validation and support.

Mercury rules communications, words and the expression of ideas. Chiron is all about comforting, healing and self-sacrifice. Put them together in a benevolent aspect like a sextile, and you have the perfect recipe for putting your own needs aside long enough to tend to or comfort another.

Four of Mirrors

Aries:  Four of Mirrors

This month is all about choices and those choices and decisions you may be putting off whilst, perhaps, you wait for something better to come along.

The mirrors in this card stand for the suit of cups and from the pattern they are displaying in the water also show that your thoughts, decisions, choices may be changing like the tide… one day you are high on an idea and the next day you are low and no longer want to go along with that idea.

I don’t blame you… from the looks of things where you are sitting it looks pretty comfortable and calming.

There are no intense emotions and everything is running along quite smoothly. You feel at “one” with your environment and see no use in fighting against the current in making changes to your situation. Change is coming though, whether you want it or not.

The sea turtle which is about to brush against your tail is a symbol of you being given a slight nudge in making changes.

You can go back to your dream world, keeping your eyes shut and focused on pleasant thoughts and sensations — or you can face what’s coming head on.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 30, 2014 — Three of Cups

Three of Cups

Three of Cups

Today you may feel like taking a break from the monotony of your daily routine and getting together with friends and loved ones.

The Three of Cups represents people gathering together to connect, interact and celebrate. It’s a happy, joyful energy that can manifest as a party or celebration, or it could be as simple as a girls night out.

Either way it’s a time of merriment and gaiety. Hanging out with like-minded people and expressing feelings of affection and good-will. There’s no room for fretting about work, and none of this sitting around ironing out political or ideological differences.

This rendition is a re-colored and “illuminated” Rider-Waite version with the traditional three young women dancing and raising their cups in celebration. Notice though how the women and their robes have been altered to highlight the differences in culture and ethnicity. This is an important feature of the Three of Cups — there’s a general sense of communion and camaraderie that knows no pettiness, no jealousy and no social bounds.

Today’s Mercury / Jupiter sextile ties in perfectly with this card. Not only does it speak of interacting comfortably with others, but it encourages you to expand your social horizons and let those you have no direct understanding of or history with into your inner circle.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 29, 2014 — The Moon

The Moon

The Moon

Today you may be feel the need to get more in touch with your emotions. You may sense that there’s more to something (or someone) than meets the eye, and be compelled to seek out a clearer understanding.

The Moon card — like the Moon in the night sky — can seem mysterious and unfathomable. It is the yin to the Sun’s yang; representing primal instincts and intuition.

While the Sun rules the day and light, the Moon rules the night and darkness. Mystery, the unknown, all that is hidden and that lies beneath the surface. This is the realm of the unconscious: that which is churning beneath your awareness and which often translates externally as anxieties, insecurities and fears.

It sometimes manifests as confusion, uncertainty or paranoia — especially when we try to analyze it logically, which is foreign to the realm of the Moon. Just as we can’t fully appreciate the beauty of the Moon in the light of day (consciousness), we struggle to grasp its archetypal meaning through the lens of logic or reason.

This morning at 2:14 am Eastern time, an Annular Solar (New Moon) Eclipse occurs at 9° Taurus, a sign known for its practical nature.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 28, 2014 — Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups

Today’s card — the Ace of Cups — is all about romance, affection, flirtation, intimacy, communion and most of all love.

Aces represent new and unformed energy. As Cups refer to emotions, intuition and feelings, it’s likely to manifest on one of these levels.

It’s all about seeing your capacity to love and express feelings mirrored right back to you — through a new love interest, a friend or family member, or the eyes of a child.

You may be starting a new relationship or expressing yourself romantically — whether or not a serious relationship develops from that flirtation. As with all Aces, the energy is so new and so unformed that a myriad of possibilities is completely within your reach.

The process of falling in love reveals to you your purest, most perfect potential. It’s when you put your best foot forward and show the world what you’re capable of — and the Universe responds in kind.

If you’re already in an established relationship, the Ace of Cups can refer to a renewal of affection and passion. It can represent a renewal, a more “formal” commitment or the onset of a new chapter in your relationship.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 27, 2014 — King of Cups

King of Cups

King of Cups

Today you may be compelled to seek out the counsel of someone you know you can turn to for comfort and guidance.

The King of Cups is ruled by Pisces, which represents the more sensitive and gentle aspects of the masculine archetype. Although the person (or attitude) representing this card is not always a man, it does refer to the more assertive / yang energy that is traditionally associated with the male archetype. It can describe a person, an event or a state of mind.

As with all of the court cards, the Kings often represent someone coming into your life to teach you important lessons. In this case as it’s Cups, which refers to the realm of feelings, emotions, instinct and intuition.

This King is seated on a throne that rises of the ocean like a pedestal. He leans forward with a scepter in one hand a golden chalice in the other. Behind him are a sailboat and a dolphin, enjoying the clear skies and calm seas.

While this King is kind and compassionate, he can also be stern. He is not afraid of his emotions, but he doesn’t let them govern him or weaken his authority.

He’s not easily persuaded or manipulated and he doesn’t get caught up in maudlin sentimentality. The seas around him may be turbulent, but he maintains his calm as he keeps a watchful eye on the horizon.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 26, 2014 — Temperance

Temperance

Temperance

Today you want to work on achieving balance and symmetry in all areas of your life.

The Temperance card refers to bringing the opposing facets of your personality (or your relationships, or your desires) into alignment by finding the perfect middle ground.

It’s about peace and harmony, synthesis and equilibrium, moderation and restraint.

The woman in this version of the card rests comfortably at the edge of body of water, patiently pouring water from one vessel into another. She has flowers in her hair and angel’s wings on her back.

The Sun and Saturn sit high in the sky and a bright star shines on her from afar. Land, sky and sea creatures rally all around her. There are birds, reptiles, mammals, insects and fish, all in her immediate proximity.

There’s a calm, tranquil energy expressed through the imagery in this card. It encourages us to stay centered and not tilt too much in one direction or the other.

Although you may have to make a decision today — and although that decision may require you to give something up — focusing on compromise and cooperation will go a long ways toward mitigating dissension.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 25, 2014 — Eight of Vessels

Eight of Vessels

Eight of Vessels

The Eight of Cups (called Vessels in the Wildwood Tarot), is traditionally associated with feelings of disappointment and disillusionment, brought about by the realization that what you’ve worked so hard for is not going to turn out the way you’d hoped it was.

It speaks of walking away or leaving something (or someone) behind that you’ve given your all to, and resigning yourself to the understanding that it (or whom) was just not meant to be.

This version of the card focuses more on the redemptive aspects of clearing, healing and moving on. Here we see three small vessels hanging from a tree and tilted just enough to pour their contents into one larger vessel. That vessel fills up and then overflows into four more vessels, which in turn spill their contents into a spring.

A similar pattern is repeated in nature — with the waterfall in the background, the movement and ripples in the stream, and the water that flows through the rock formations in the foreground.

As the Sun conjuncts Mercury and Venus trines Saturn today, a more practical understanding of why things don’t always work out the way you wanted becomes possible.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 24, 2014 — Ace of Wands

Ace of Wands

Ace of Wands

A new day is dawning today and awakening you to a world of possibilities.

The Ace of Wands represents a new beginning, courtesy of the creative spark that fuels your passions and drives. It asks you to open your heart to adventure, and to find inspiration all around you.

In this version of the card we encounter the Greek God Prometheus as he soars down from Olympus with the spark of fire he’s stolen from Zeus.

There’s no hesitation or consideration of the consequences — there’s just the passion and determination that is at the root of the Ace of Wands drive.

The Ace of Wands is creative, dynamic and courageous. And while — like Prometheus — it can also be impulsive and reckless, its primary function is motivation.

Of all the Aces, this one is the shaker and the mover: it’s the one that compels us to dream big, reach high and to let nothing stand in the way of manifesting our goals.

But Aces are also more about the spark of an idea, a plan or a decision than they are about action. As the Ace of Wands is ruled by Mars, which is a big part of the Cardinal Grand Cross that we’re all still in the throes of, it may not be the best time to take action.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 23, 2014 — Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Four of Swords

This is a good day to work on being centered and maintaining your composure in the midst of whatever life throws your way.

With an intense astrological aspect — a Cardinal Grand Cross — involving four powerful planets (Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter and Mars) becoming as exact today as it’s ever going to get, you may feel like you’re in the eye of a hurricane and when you think about it, that may be the best place to be.

A Grand Cross involves four or more planets that are all forming squares (90°) and oppositions (180°) to one another. As squares represent conflict and oppositions represent tension, these aspects can be incredibly frustrating and difficult to contain.

The Four of Swords — called “Truce” in the Thoth deck, and represents a need to bring those opposing forces into the center where they can be focused into one powerful dynamic.

While you may feel pulled in several different directions today,  you’d be best served to stay calm and carry on, rather than let yourself fall out of balance. The Four of Swords encourages you to ponder, reflect and meditate rather than “act.” It speaks of detaching from the whirlwind of activity around you and to observe rather than participate.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Apr 22, 2014 — The Chariot

Chariot

The Chariot:

You may have more energy than you know what to do with today, and less self-discipline with which to rein it in.

With Mars squaring Jupiter today, you could be bursting at the seams and raring to go — to DO something or make something happen — even if you haven’t really thought it completely through.

This is a very high-energy transit and you can accomplish a lot, but it can also be reckless, so make sure you stop and think before you act.

The Chariot card in this rendition depicts a warrior goddess harnessing two vastly opposing energies. The white and black stallions are rearing up against a day and night backdrop — each pulling away from the other rather than working together as a team.

If you look closely you can see that they’re not really going anywhere anyway; their front hooves aren’t touching the ground and their hind-quarters are nowhere to be seen.

You’ll have to work hard if you want to rein in all of that energy — otherwise you can wind up like the Charioteer in this card: spinning your wheels and getting nowhere.
