Strength

ARIES: Strength

You may be called upon this month to reach into your inner reserves of strength and overcome your deepest fears. The Strength card is all about mind over matter and gaining control over the things in your life that are at risk for spiraling out of control.

It could be as simple as a pattern of second guessing yourself or talking yourself out of doing what you know is best for you. And it can be as complicated as upholding your part of a bargain you’ve made with yourself: quitting smoking for example. Dieting. Sticking to an exercise regimen. Holding your ground against temptations to “give in” when you know that doing so is not going to be in your best interests.

The woman in this card — from the Aya Takano Tarot— has managed to tame the beast through kindness and generosity. But she’s not exactly lying down and exposing her underbelly. Her demeanor is both soothing and reverent as she places the wreath of flowers over the lion’s mane. I love the “power” tattoo on her forearm.

Think about how far you’ve come in taming your own inner beasts. If you’re tempted to throw in the towel, remember that doing so will only cause you to lose momentum.

The Strength card encourages you to not only meet your fears head on, but to transform them by neutralizing the power they hold over you. Once you do that you’ll find that they weren’t so frightening after all.

The Moon

For those of you in parts of the world today where the eclipse can be seen you may feel as if your world is turned a bit upside down… with day becoming darker. So it is with this version of the Moon where what is actually in the “sky” bears only a slight resemblance to what is on the “earth”. In other words all is not as it may seem.

The card of the Moon usually stands for confusion and as this eclipse goes off in the last degree of Pisces, a sign known for its intuitive capabilities, you need to be aware of what is “real” and what is “unreal”.

The yin yang symbol in the centre of this image shows that there is a need for balance today as you navigate through waters (emotions) that may seem a little turbulent to you and have you feeling as if you are swimming against the tide or just being pulled around in all directions without any control of what is going on.

If you take a look at the top half of this image though you can see you can overcome any uncertainty or confusion which is around you if you steer to your course and hold true in what you believe.

It is as if you are being shown a blueprint of what may and may not be and the choice is yours of what you make of today. Will it be good or bad? Will it be in your hands or out of your hands?

Eclipses tend to take things out of your hands but there are a few things you can do to mitigate any damage. This is not the day to make major decisions. It is certainly not the day to take any risks or believe all that is around you is the total truth.

There may be a few surprises in store for you in the days to come and if you look back you will see that what you sow today you may reap in the next few weeks as we head into the next eclipse on April 4.

Moon

the Moon

Today’s New Moon is at 0° Sagittarius. It marks the culmination of the lunar cycle, from new to full and then back again. But this particular New Moon’s theme is repeated, with both the Sun and Moon moving into a new sign (Sagittarius) at the same time.

The November Full Moon is known as the “Beaver Moon,” and while we see a rabbit in this version (rather than a beaver), it’s also called the  “Full Frost Moon” which is depicted beautifully in this card.

So is the juxtaposition between new (zero degrees) and full (the last full Moon, on November 6th), in the reflected imagery of this card. The Full Moon sits high in the sky, while the New Moon is transposed below and reflected in the icy sheen of the frozen stream.

If you look closely you’ll see that everything reflected in the stream is slightly different than it’s literal version. The Full and New Moons are obvious. But the rabbit’s reflection is inverted and the constellations around the moon become ripples in the stream. Even the stars in the night sky look like swirling snowflakes in the stream’s reflection.

This ties in to one of the main differences between the astrological Sun and Moon. In keeping with the Hermetic principles of “As above, so below; as within so without,” we understand that the Moon reflects the Sun’s light and thus represents the internal aspects of our psyches.

Traditional interpretations of the Moon card include things like confusion, doubt and uncertainty. And while some of that may be reflected here — with the paradoxical inverted reflections — there’s also a lot of clarity here. The night is crisp, the stars are bright and the rabbit is fully engaged in getting a closer look at that New Moon.

With that in mind, today is not only a  good day to think about fresh ideas, initiating projects and New (Moon) beginnings, but also good for exploring and embracing your rich inner world.

The Moon

There’s a full moon lunar eclipse today in Aries which is also happening very close to the unpredictable planet Uranus.

Although there is a lot going on with the eclipse it seems you just want to hide away and be by yourself without anyone around you except your own thoughts and emotions for company.

If you find this is the case then take a good look at this image because you look a bit “blue” and not too sure of yourself or what is going on around you.

The water (emotions) is so still you can see your reflection perfectly in it yet you are not looking at yourself you are looking straight ahead, without movement, without wanting to upset the balance of what is before you… and without seeing the necessity to scan your surroundings for any threats.

The skulls in the water eerily reflect below the water’s surface giving them the impression of beautiful shell like structures and an indication that what is actually around for you cannot be seen on the surface but is far deeper than you or anyone else may suspect.

It is almost as if the past is coming back to haunt you right when you don’t want it too.

If you find yourself in this situation today, especially with a full moon eclipse in Aries conjunct Uranus you may find it difficult to remain as clear and cool headed as you wish.

The Moon

We are in store for another super moon which turns full today in the sign of Pisces.

Think of all the dreamy, creative, imaginative Piscean traits and then multiply them as the full moon works its magic on your unconscious to bring things to the surface.

This is not the day to be fighting what you don’t want to be brought to the surface.

If you do so you may find that you are so caught up in trying to run away from that which you cannot escape that you inadvertently force your unconscious to push harder to make known to you what you need to deal with.

Of course you could go down the route of having a few drinks to dampen the highly sensitive nature of this full moon but this may be the worst thing you can do as then you may find yourself spiralling further out of control and making any situation you were trying to avoid that much worse.

This is a day to meditate and with this in mind you need to know what you want in order to give your meditations that extra push because the super moon will be adding weight to any dream you wish to take forward and also allowing you to explore different ways you can achieve this dream.

As you look at this image you see the figure in it peacefully asleep, resting in a dreamlike state, surrounded by bella donna flowers and luna moths.

 The Moon

As the moon turns full today in Aquarius things may go a little out of whack.

Aquarians are known for their eccentric thinking so just bear with this energy for a while and take note of anything that is happening around you that you may think of as unusual, out of the ordinary or not normal for you.

The Moon card can cause confusion alongside perhaps not being sure of where you are going. The image on this version shows a woman who is perhaps not dressed for the cold weather and yet there she stands looking around to see where she needs to go to next.

Do not be deceived by her fragile appearance for the imagery also suggests that she is very good at manifesting her dreams and desires. The “wand” she holds in her right hand is not being used at the moment but she has the choice as to whether she wishes to draw upon what is around her and bring together more cohesion in an attempt to gain what she wants.

Be on the lookout today for things which may at first not be what they seem. The moon can cloud your better judgement and this is particularly so when it is full. If you have any major decisions to make just now then perhaps it is best if you were to put them off for a few days and wait for the energies to die down so you can see more clearly what your next step should be.

Four of Mirrors

Aries:  Four of Mirrors

This month is all about choices and those choices and decisions you may be putting off whilst, perhaps, you wait for something better to come along.

The mirrors in this card stand for the suit of cups and from the pattern they are displaying in the water also show that your thoughts, decisions, choices may be changing like the tide… one day you are high on an idea and the next day you are low and no longer want to go along with that idea.

I don’t blame you… from the looks of things where you are sitting it looks pretty comfortable and calming.

There are no intense emotions and everything is running along quite smoothly. You feel at “one” with your environment and see no use in fighting against the current in making changes to your situation. Change is coming though, whether you want it or not.

The sea turtle which is about to brush against your tail is a symbol of you being given a slight nudge in making changes.

You can go back to your dream world, keeping your eyes shut and focused on pleasant thoughts and sensations — or you can face what’s coming head on.

The Moon

The Moon

Today you may be feel the need to get more in touch with your emotions. You may sense that there’s more to something (or someone) than meets the eye, and be compelled to seek out a clearer understanding.

The Moon card — like the Moon in the night sky — can seem mysterious and unfathomable. It is the yin to the Sun’s yang; representing primal instincts and intuition.

While the Sun rules the day and light, the Moon rules the night and darkness. Mystery, the unknown, all that is hidden and that lies beneath the surface. This is the realm of the unconscious: that which is churning beneath your awareness and which often translates externally as anxieties, insecurities and fears.

It sometimes manifests as confusion, uncertainty or paranoia — especially when we try to analyze it logically, which is foreign to the realm of the Moon. Just as we can’t fully appreciate the beauty of the Moon in the light of day (consciousness), we struggle to grasp its archetypal meaning through the lens of logic or reason.

This morning at 2:14 am Eastern time, an Annular Solar (New Moon) Eclipse occurs at 9° Taurus, a sign known for its practical nature.

the Moon

The Moon

You may be dealing with feelings of uncertainty today and wondering whether what you believe to be real is real or whether it’s all in your imagination.

The Moon card can refer to anxiety and confusion, based on an instinct that you can’t make rational sense of. You feel that something is “off” but can’t articulate your reasons for feeling so because it’s not based on evidence, only intuition.

It refers to mysteries and perplexities that are hard to unravel. You may working with insufficient information or you may be making assumptions based on feelings rather than facts. Either way you could run into opposition from others who challenge you to justify your instincts.

Don’t think for a moment though that you’re off-base. Usually there’s a ton of truth to these feelings, even if you can’t explain them. It’s a visceral understanding rather than a logical one, which can make trying to express it very frustrating.

In this version of the Card we see the Man (or Woman) in the Moon, framed by a backdrop of clouds, stars and seasons. All four main phases of the Moon are here, with the largest one — the full Moon — shining high in the night sky. It’s face looks worn and weary, with one eye open and one eye closed. This is such a great representation of the fear and paranoia that can accompany this card.

ARIES: Five of Pentacles

You may start the month going through a bit of a rough patch. The Five of Pentacles is all about questioning your own values — whether that means mentally, physically, spiritually, and financially.

As Pentacles relate to physical, material and tangible concerns, you may be struggling with money and material possessions. But this is also ties into your own sense of self-worth.

You may be asking yourself “What do I have to offer and what is it worth to others?” There’s a sense of loneliness and feelings of inadequacy associated with this card.

But if you look at the images in this version, you see not one person but two. And they seem to be holding each other up — supporting one another.

This is the message behind the Five of Pentacles: it may be cold outside and you may have suffered a recent set-back or a blow to your self-esteem. But all you have to do is look around you — and be willing to reach out for help.

We can’t any of us make it through this world alone. This card is all about reminding ourselves that there is help if we are willing to ask for it, and in doing so will usually come out stronger in the end.

The Moon

The Moon

Today you may be struggling with feelings of anxiety over something that just doesn’t seem to be panning out they way you’d planned.

The Moon card represents our unconscious hopes and fears and is loaded with shadow material. This card tells us that things are uncertain, unsettled and unfinished and that the outcome is still very much up the air.

The Moon in this version is portrayed by Shakespeare’s Three Witches, who foretold MacBeth’s fate early on in the tragedy of the same name.

The “Weird Sisters,” (as they were also known) were mysterious, ambiguous and contradictory, much like the Moon in the night sky.

They were also dark, moody, elusive and ever-changing, and it was never quite clear whether they were real or were figments of MacBeth’s imagination, born of his deepest desires.

The Sun and Moon: Astrology’s “Heavenly Bodies”

Astrologically speaking, most people know their Sun signs. You’ll hear people say “I’m a Leo” or “I’m a water sign (referring to Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces Sun signs),” or “I was born on the Virgo/Libra cusp.”

And many believe that that’s all there is to it. Nothing could be further from the truth!

The Moon sign is not only just as important as the Sun sign, sometimes it’s even more important.

Eastern astrologers, for example, are more interested in Moon signs than Sun signs, and in many areas almost everyone knows their own Moon sign from an early age.

Sun sign astrology (horoscopes) became popular because the Sun’s zodiacal position is the only one that can be determined by birth date alone. The Sun occupies the same relative position in the zodiac on the same day every year. That makes it easy for laypeople to know their own Sun signs, without having to consult an astrologer or navigate the complicated waters of in-depth astrology.

Even though the Sun is over 400 times the size of the Moon (another reason some place more importance on it), it’s also over 400 times further away. This is why they appear to be relatively the same size from our vantage point. It’s also why we have Solar and Lunar eclipses.
