Happy Birthday Cancer! Here are some highlights for the month ahead:

Lunations: The New Moon this month is on July 8th at 16° Cancer.

The Full Moon takes place on July 22nd at 0° Aquarius.

Retrogrades: Saturn is retrograde until it turns stationary direct at 4° Scorpio on July 8th. Uranus turns retrograde on July 17th at 12° Aries.

Mercury is retrograde until it turns stationary direct on July 20th at 13° Cancer. Chiron, Neptune and Pluto are all retrograde for the entire month of July.

Ingresses: Mars moves into Cancer on July 13th. The Sun enters Leo and Venus enters Virgo on July 22nd.

Mercury Retrograde — Here we go Again!

Most of us have heard about “Mercury Retrograde,” and mostly in an unfavorable light. In general it’s said to relate to delays, challenges and missteps in Mercury-ruled areas.

These include plans, contracts, agreements, communications — both verbal and written — as well as communications devices (phones, televisions, radios, computers, fax machines, etc.). In addition, cars, trains, bikes and motorcycles — anything related to short-distance or local travel — are all also under the Mercury umbrella and likely to be affected.

Mercury retrograde carries with it so many negative connotations — probably because most of us don’t handle sudden upsets or unexpected changes to our carefully-made plans. But people win lotteries under Mercury retrograde. They fall in love. They get married. They have babies. They launch successful businesses.

Keep your wits about you after the new moon eclipse on the 9th because shortly following this Venus enters your area of communication which may be giving you the impetus to speak up and speak up quickly in order to have your thoughts heard. As Venus rules love you can bet that what you have to say will influence your partner but if you put off communicating you may find that by the time Mercury also enters your area of communication on the 16th then your words may flow in a way more conducive to the other person hearing them. If you find yourself missing golden opportunities to speak what is on your mind then leave it till the last week of the month when Mercury, Venus ,Jupiter and the black moon Lilith all come into alignment… and hopefully this alignment will pave the way for a positive discussion in what has been troubling you.

You should be in fine form this month, with five planets moving through your sign. The Sun aspects Venus and Jupiter on the 1st, paving the way for social and romantic opportunities. Remember that these require a lot more give and take than you’re probably used to: you’re going to have to curb some of those Arian impulses if you want to make the most of these aspects. Your relationship rulers come together on the 7th, followed by the New Moon in Aries on the 10^th. You’ve got so much potential here to start something new, or to revitalize a current connection. Your ruling planet Mars moves into your sign on the 13^th which will give you more drive and ambition than you have perhaps been feeling with Mercury retrograde in your area of spirituality. You may even wish to use this month as a time to try out a new approach to getting things done… one that doesn’t involve so much pushing. If you think that making a grand effort to get something accomplished is the only way to do things then have a think on this. After the 23^rd which is also around the time the Sun enters your sign and begins another new year astrologically you will be in the enviable position of also having Venus enter your sign. Slow and steady actions may well win any races you have been thinking of undertaking with regards to your love life and with the full moon in your relationship area on the 27^th the only thing you need to be focusing on is what you want to happen in your love life and not throwing yourself so recklessly into a plan that you scupper the results.
