Knight of Wands

Knight of Wands

Energy is high today as the Sun sextiles Mars and allows for a freedom that you may not have felt recently.

Any correspondence or communications you need to catch up on can go a bit more smoothly today even with Mercury retrograde as it is.

You seem to have a spring in your step and a devil may care attitude that anything you do today can be accomplished.

This is throughout all aspect of your life. From the round coin shapes under your feet to the love hearts you are about to land on… it’s all like frosting on the cake and there for your pleasure.

If there is a situation that has been making your nervous and ill at ease to the point that you want to escape it but don’t know the best way to go about it then today you may just find yourself throwing caution to the wind and just moving on.

Nothing is going to hold you back. The Knight of Wands tells you that everything you want to achieve today is yours for the taking. The sky is the limit — you just need to give it everything you have as you reach for your goals.

You have the energy and intention today to do anything… even if it may not be what others want you to do.

Knight of Wands

Knight of Wands

Today you may have to reach into your inner reserves of confidence and courage to go after your dreams.

The Knight of Wands is all about passion, inspiration and adventure. You may have taken the seed of an idea (as seen with the Page) and turned it into a workable plan. This isn’t some far-fetched scheme. It’s a goal you can actually see yourself reaching at some point in the future.

This Knight of Wands is more composed than so many of the other versions. Rather than rearing back on his steed and charging off toward the horizon, this one trains his eye on far-off vistas, measuring the steps it will take for him to get from here to there.

You may be considering a major undertaking: going back to school, launching a new career, embarking on a spiritual adventure, etc. Whatever it is, know that it will serve you well to adopt a similar stance.

While there is a definite “spirit of adventure” associated with the Knight of Wands, it helps to pace yourself (like the version in this card) rather than to charge off after something that you haven’t quite figured out.

You can’t know all the answers: even this Knight doesn’t know what’s on the other side of that cliff. But you can increase your odds of succeeding by adopting a “look before you leap” attitude, for this or any venture.

ARIES: Queen of Wands

You may look calm and peaceful on the outside as if you hold the secret to the pyramids within you and could endure anything.

But just look at those flames flickering at the end of each wing… almost as if you are ready to “take off” or launch into a blazing mood which comes from nowhere.

This is a time to sit back and weigh up your options without the distraction of others and what they think, say or do.

Keep your own counsel and act accordingly with what is right for you. You have your eye on the outcome and know how to achieve it.

Notice how the bird in this card keeps her eye on the dragonfly… she is not about to let anything get in her way or dissuade her from the course she has chosen.

You have the energy within you to make your dreams come true… wish wisely and don’t waste your time and energy on the mundane.

Knight of Wands

Today’s card — the Knight of Wands — speaks of mustering up the courage and confidence to pursue something you’re passionate about. It may be a life-long dream that you’ve never had the time or resources to seriously consider. Or it could be something you’ve taken a recent interest in that has you feeling inspired.

The Knight of Wands encourages you to set aside your fears and go after your goals with determination and drive. A renewed sense of enthusiasm for something you only dreamed about in the past can now propel you forward.

There’s a fiery dynamic energy about this card. The Knight is already seated on his mount, preparing to take the world by storm. The Sun is blazing in the background against a vivid rainbow sky. Even the stallion is ready to get moving; you can see it in the way he looks back over his shoulder awaiting his command. There’s nothing stale or stagnant about this card. It’s all about energy, action and pursuit.

It’s important to make preparations before you start, as there’s a bit of an act first-think later reputation associated with this card. You also want to pace yourself so that you don’t run out of steam. The Knight of Wands tends to run on adrenalin and has been known to lose interest in projects once they become routine.

Ask the Tarot: Should I Change Careers?

change careers

This installment relates to a client who came in faced with a major and potentially life-altering question: “Should I change careers?” He’s currently working as a software developer for a large firm and already has a bit of an online presence.

But he wanted to know if taking a giant leap of faith and launching his own business (doing something similar but working entirely for himself from home) would be a good move.

While I usually like to pose questions exactly as they’re presented to me, in this instance I rephrased it and asked the following: “What would be the result of Will* quitting his job and launching his own business from home?”

This month you may see the long awaited completion of a project you have been involved in or a part of your life you have been wanting to bring together in the best possible way.

This image on this card comes from German painter Hans Memling famous for many great works of art, including this painting of Saint Urslula of the Holy Virgins.

In this painting, Saint Ursula stands shielding her handmaidens against certain death.

The four corners of the card show the images of the four fixed astrological signs: Aquarius, Scorpio, Taurus and Leo.

They’re also said to represent the four Evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

This card is about using all of your gifts to reach out and accomplish your goals.

As the last card of the Major Arcana, it symbolizes completion.
