the Mirror

The Mirror

The Mirror is the Wildwood Tarot’s version of the Hanged Man. And like the Hanged Man, there are references of surrender, spiritual growth and sacrifice in this card.

But unlike the Hanged Man, the Mirror card is more about internal awareness than it is about external challenges. There’s less emphasis on the suspension of time and more on the process of self-discovery.

The central figure in this card is a Siren who has emerged from the depths of the sea. She holds a mirror in one hand and lifts up a glowing orb in the other. In the foreground we see a crane — messenger to the Gods — and in the distance a small island just beyond a burial at sea.

Neptune squares Venus today and trines the Sun. While the square can drive home an uncomfortable realization that things aren’t as perfect as they seem, the trine counters that awareness with acceptance and acquiescence.

There are definite surrender aspects to this card. The Mirror itself — held close to the Siren’s heart — speaks of looking within, accessing your intuition and embracing all that is reflected back to you. And the orb lifted up towards the heavens speaks of looking outside of yourself for spiritual guidance.

These are both valid endeavors, and both will ultimately move you past some of the obstacles that are hindering your progress.

Page of Cups

Page of Cups

Following hot on the heels of yesterday’s new moon in Cancer we have the Page of Cups gently contemplating what is going on both within and without of him or her.

You’ll notice that this version of the Page of Cups has both a feminine and masculine quality. I usually read the Page of Cups as a male but I am definitely seeing the feminine within this version which gives a basis for what today is about. Getting in touch with both sides of yourself… the masculine and the feminine.

There is no pushing or pulling going on in this card. Everything is flowing. It is a great opportunity to accept yourself and the many facets with your character without judgement just letting things flow in and out and around you.

There is a lot of creativity around for you today and if you find yourself looking at something and seeing it in a different way then stay with what you are seeing and see what it brings up for you. Its time to play and feel childlike and allow the energy of the Cancer new moon to light your path.

Notice the little dots surrounding the upper part of the card where it is blue almost as if they are thoughts captured in the air and there are a lot of them to choose from. Yet there is no tension in this figure… thoughts come and thoughts go and still there is serenity and peace within you.

Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups

The New Moon in Cancer trines Neptune today and brings with it a refreshing burst of energy to your emotions and love life which can be seen in this version of the Ace of Cups.

Today is about looking for that which is perhaps a bit “hidden” but when found turns out to be such an amazing gem that you wonder how you didn’t see it in the first place. Do not look for what you wish to find in the usual places because what you are looking for is inside yourself as can be seen from the mirrored image on top of the cup where emotions over spill but are yet contained within a positive way.

You are in a state of unfolding, not yet complete and on either side of you are some really gentle yet opposing forces or feelings. The water denotes emotions and the fish jumping from the water is amenable to the neptunian influence today where you literally jump out of any negative emotions that may have been holding you back and let your soul soar towards your imagination.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 26, 2014 — Justice

Justice

Justice

Today you may be called upon to make a decision that is fair and just — without regard your own personal investment or leanings. The Justice card refers to a conscious awareness of cause and effect, action and consequence, right and wrong.

It may be a situation that you’re personally involved in, such as a relationship that tugs at your heartstrings but is not aligned with your principles. Or you may be asked to mediate a disagreement among friends or family members.

This isn’t about choosing sides. It’s about being able to tap into the “truth” objectively and impartially.

In this version of the card, a pair of black cats — one facing towards us and one facing away — are balanced in a set of scales that are emerging from the depths of the sea. A shark circles around them from just below the surface of the water.

The orb of the Sun shines through a hinge at the top of the scales, while the cats lounge comfortably in their individual clouds.

The shark infested waters remind us of the need to “rise above” turbulent emotions in order to get a clear perspective, which the Sun shining brightly provides. And notice too how the sky gets progressively brighter and then graduates into night-time. Staying centered, maintaining your composure and getting clarity are all important aspects of this card.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 25, 2014 — The Magician

Magician

The Magician

This is a high energy day with just as much potential for things to go haywire as there is for magic to transpire.

The Magician card encourages us to make the best use of all of the resources at our disposal. Especially during stressful times. The Magician — like the Fool — already has everything he needs. But unlike the Fool, he’s consciously aware of it.

Sometimes it’s about learning to harness those energies and sometimes it’s about keeping them afloat. And sometimes it boils down to a precarious balancing act.

Notice the black cat exiting the stage on the right. He’s left his paw prints all the way down the wall and across the backdrop. He’s traipsed all over the stage yet doesn’t seem to have distracted the Magician at all. That’s the kind of composure you wan to cultivate during this time or at any time that life become stressful.

Mars and Uranus are in opposition today. This can be a extremely volatile opposition, and has been known to correlate with cataclysmic events. But it doesn’t have to, and certainly not in your world.

In my book there are two ways to handle oppositions. The first one has to do with “owning” one side of the opposition and projecting the other one outwardly, onto another person or an event. The other — and my preference — is to see it as an opportunity to balance and integrate those opposing forces.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 24, 2014 — Seven of Rings

Seven of Rings

Seven of Rings

Today you may want to take a step back from something you’ve been investing your time and energy into, to get a feel for where things stand. It could be a career move, a relationship, a spiritual journey, a set of personal goals — whatever it is you’ve set your sites on in the hopes of producing long-term results.

The Seven of Pentacles (“Rings” in this deck) is all about taking stock of how far you’ve come and then either making the necessary adjustments or jumping back in with a renewed sense of confidence and enthusiasm.

In this version of the card, a colorful carousel spins around the midway, lighted from the horizon by an enormous full Moon. This nighttime scene reminds us that what we set in motion keeps on moving, relative to the amount of effort we put into it. If we’ve done the work, it’s going to keep on producing results long after we’re tucked in for the night.

The Seven of Rings is a card of momentum. It tells us that there really is no finite beginning or end. You can step on or off at any point, knowing that taking the time to assess and re-evaluate your goals is an important part of the process.

The current transits are somewhat volatile. Mercury is still retrograde and the t-square involving Mars, Uranus and Pluto is heating up again. Which is all the more reason to not get sidetracked. As an interesting side-note, the Moon is void of course today until just after 11am (GMT). This coincides beautifully with the “pause and reflect” aspect associated with the Seven of Rings.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 23, 2014 — the Lovers

the Lovers

The Lovers

Sometimes you never quite know what you’re going to get in love and sometimes that statement doesn’t always apply to the other person for you can be equally as ambivalent towards them as they are towards you.

Enter Venus into Gemini today. A placement of Venus that tends to bring out the flirtatious, curious, communicative butterfly which flits, flies and flirts from person to person or situation to situation never quite totally settling upon a set form…. unless caught.

Do not get me wrong the Lovers card is a great card to have and if Venus had been entering a sign, such as, Scorpio, Cancer or Leo (to name a few) today then my interpretation would’ve been different.

But if you like your love in the shape of communicative, curious, never quite pinned down style of that of Venus in Gemini then is what’s being served up for the next few weeks… get ready to flirt!

In today’s tarot card you see a man and a woman with their backs to each other yet they hold a unified stance against their environment as their arms are linked together and they hold the exact same amount of “space” within the card… neither of them are overbearing or taking up more space than the other.

There is no tension here yet there is the unmistakable feeling that something isn’t quite right or that there are things going on around them that they need to watch each other’s back and therefore present a unified front against the world.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 23, 2014 — the Lovers

the Lovers

The Lovers

Venus moves into light-hearted free-spirited Gemini today, the sign of its esoteric rulership. Venus in Gemini understands the importance of sharing ideas and communicating feelings, which are the foundations upon which happy, healthy relationships are built.

But it also relates to the mental aspects of relating via decisions that need to be made. Sometimes — where the Lovers card is concerned —  it’s a choice between two people, and sometimes it’s a choice between love and something else (career, family, responsibilities, freedom. etc.).

The Gemini duality is present in this version of the card. The yin / yang energy is evident in the most literal sense (the figures are male and female) but also figuratively in that one faces left (referencing intellect) and one face right (referencing feelings).

Also notice that while they are holding hands, they’re both also reaching out for something (or someone) just beyond our view.

They stand waist deep in a pool of water (emotions, the unconscious) while the Sun shines down on them so brightly that it’s nearly impossible to tell where it ends and they begin.

While the Lovers card does relate to merging with another and forming deep emotional bonds, there are always undercurrents of something else — something that must be factored in, decided or sacrificed — that need to be addressed.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 22, 2014 — Ace of Coins

Ace of Coins

Ace of Coins

You know exactly what you are doing today and will not be swayed by luck or chance.

The figure in this image holds an I Ching coin which are used for divination purposes however there are no question marks surrounding what you need to next to proceed and you do not need any divination tools to tell you what needs to be done.

You are already packed and ready to go on a new venture and are ready for whatever comes your way.

If there is a new venture you have been wanting to start do not delay. You know what you need to do next and the energy in the red blossoms clinging to the tree despite the signs of a strong wind only spur you on to take your first step forward into the unknown… or is it the known?

With the Sun in Cancer today and the Moon in Taurus there is a lot of stability and security around that means you will not be second guessing what is coming next. My money would be on you knowing exactly what is coming next and where it is coming from.

You also know what to do to avoid any pitfalls in the road that lays before you and whilst you may just be sitting down to have a rest or a break from monetary and/or business matters you are ready to get up and go at a moment’s notice.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 21, 2014 — The Sun

the Sun

The Sun

The Sun enters Cancer today which heralds the Summer Solstice… the longest day of the year if you are in the northern hemisphere and if, like myself, you are in the southern hemisphere comfort yourself in the knowledge that after today the nights can only get shorter.

In this version of the Sun we see a figure floating towards the sun with arms outstretch as if to say… I am here, I am ready, I am open to new experiences and not afraid at what will come next.

Notice how the Sun also looks as if it is in an eclipse formation which only goes to highlight more strongly the influence the Sun has today on our lives.

It is a masculine energy and it is at its peak and ready to bestow upon you all the energy you need to complete that which you most desire.

It may be that you are feeling alone in what you wish to do as the fish shaped balloons carrying other people go their merry way wrapped in their own lives and their own dreams.

Looking below you see a stream which reflects back to you from where you came. However, take a closer look and this “stream” may not be what it first appears.

Free Daily Tarotscope — June 20, 2014 — The Hierophant

Hierophant

The Hierophant

Today as Chiron turns retrograde, you might be looking at how some of your own life experiences — including those that have brought you pain — have led you to express more kindness, compassion and understanding toward others.

Chiron was known as the “Wounded Healer” in Greek mythology. Chiron the planet represents a similar dynamic in astrology. It refers to the point of “woundedness” — which so often results in immense compassion and understanding — in the natal  chart.

Unlike other savage and unruly Centaurs, Chiron was intelligent, wise and humble. He was a teacher as well as a healer. He taught medicine to the ruling class from a specially prepared cave. He was known as a great healer, but having been accidentally pricked by a poisoned arrow, was unable to heal himself.

I love this version of the Hierophant card, which is usually so steeped in traditional religious symbolism that it’s hard for many to relate to. But all of us have a vast amount of untapped wisdom locked away in our own private “caves.” Sometimes this wisdom is hidden even from ourselves. And this is where embracing the Chiron retrograde archetype comes in.

This is a time of turning inward and accessing previously undiscovered gifts. Often it’s those experiences that have broken us down that lend themselves to our greatest strengths. The retrograde encourages us to look within and to break through some of the traumas that have been holding us back.

Free Daily Tarotscope — Jun 19, 2014 — Knight of Cups

Knight of Cups

Knight of Cups

It’s a big day today with the Sun conjunct Mercury which is still retrograde, as you may have already guessed from everything going a bit crazy around you.

So with that said and today looking as if retrograde Mercury will be hit with a dose of sunshine directly within its path you can look forward (or not) to things maybe going a bit more haywire than they have recently been.

In rides the Knight of Cups to add a bit of flare and drama to what is otherwise a day of needing to keep your wits about you so you don’t lose any more of your precious time trying to sort out the messes Mercury retrograde has been making.

Perhaps your partner will try to finally sit down with you today and talk things through. Well don’t go looking for any answers all at once because from the look of the image of the Knight of Cups he may have his emotions laid out for everyone to see but he doesn’t look as if he has any control or an inkling of what he really feels and/or wants underneath.

For this reason you need to hear him out with an open mind (and heart) and not make any sudden decisions yourself until things have calmed down.

If you lay one more thing at his feet he may either a) jump up to try to fix it quickly without thinking what he is saying or b) it will be the last straw for him and he’ll turn and run.
