Venus in Aries — Feb 3, 2017 – Apr 2, 2017

Venus enters Aries February 3, 2016 at 15:51 UT (or  10:51 am EST). Due to an upcoming retrograde, and with respect to the features of this particular synodic cycle, it will actually remain in Aries until Jun 6th — aside from a 3-week retrograde back into Pisces in April.

Venus is said to be in detriment in Aries, as it is the sign that opposes Venus’ natural ruler, Libra. Traditional or Classical astrology places a lot more emphasis on planetary detriments as they are seen as significant in Classical practices.

There are said to be some disadvantages to having a planet in detriment, usually due to societal norms and expectations rather than any deficit in the archetype itself. But there are also a lot of wonderfully unique attributes associated with this placement as well.

If you happened to have been born with Venus in Aries, you’re probably known as someone who is exceptionally passionate and ardent when it comes to matters of the heart. You probably fall in (and out) of love quickly. You consider yourself a bit of a maverick where love and relationships are concerned. You wear your heart on your sleeve, express your feelings openly, and are not afraid of a little competition.

Venus in Pisces — Jan 3, 2017 – Feb 3, 2017

Venus enters Pisces on January 3, 2017. Venus is exalted in Pisces, meaning that it is an honored or revered placement. As Neptune, the modern ruler of Pisces, is the higher octave of Venus, this placement is said to be in essential dignity.

If you happened to have been born with this Venus, you’re probably sensitive, loving, empathetic and compassionate. You’re conscious of (and affected by) the suffering of others.

You like to see yourself as part of a greater gestalt and not any better (or worse) than anyone else. You believe that people are inherently good, and for this reason you can be seen as gullible or naive.

Venus in Pisces people tend to be romantic and idealistic. They’re dreamers and visionaries who see the word through rose colored glasses. They’re poets and prophets and philosophers.

Venus in Aquarius — Dec 7, 2016 – Jan 3, 2016

Venus enters Aquarius on Dec 7, 2016 at 14:51 UT (9:51 am EST). Aquarius is the natural ruler of astrology’s 11 house — the area associated with friendships, group involvements and humanity in general.

If you were born with Venus in Aquarius, you probably consider yourself a bit of a rebel when it comes to love. You enjoy your independence and like to maintain a large circle of friends from all walks of life. You’re drawn to intelligent, independent and open-minded partners who test the boundaries of conventional mores.

You may be a bit eccentric, especially regarding matters of the heart. You see yourself as impervious to social expectations and may like to shock others with your relationship choices.

Aquarius is co-ruled by Saturn (traditional ruler) and Uranus (modern ruler). As such, there are some Venus in Aquarius individuals who are more “Saturnine” — conservative and traditional. A lot depends on the aspects Venus makes and the relative strengths of both Saturn and Uranus in the natal chart.

For the most part though, Venus in Aquarius people are more Uranian in nature. They tend to live in their heads rather than in their bodies (or their hearts) and can seem emotionally disconnected.

Venus in Capricorn — November 12, 2016 – Dec 7, 2016

Venus enters Capricorn on Saturday, November 12th, 2016. If you were born with this Venus, you probably understand the value of hard work, dedication, perseverance and discipline.

You’re responsible and reliable — with money, in your career, in your relationships with loved ones, and especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

There’s usually a soulful quality about Venus in Capricorn people and a classic, timeless beauty: think Greta Scacchi, Scarlett Johansson or Faye Dunaway; or an ageless, sophisticated air, such as with Rock Hudson, Richard Burton and Paul Newman.

Venus in Capricorn people tend to be wise beyond their years and yet they’re also known to be late bloomers. Why? Because they know that good things come to those who wait, aw well as to those who take their time nurturing and developing their characters, rather than racing to the finish line.

Venus in Sagittarius — Oct 18, 2016 – Nov 11, 2016

Venus enters Sagittarius on Tuesday, October 18th at 7:00 am UT (or 3:00 am EDT). If you were lucky enough to be born with this Venus, you’re probably generous, vivacious, outgoing and expansive.

You’re known for being up-beat and optimistic, always seeing the glass as half-full, and always up for a good time.

Venus represents “love” among other things. Sagittarius is related to personal growth and expansion, travel, religion, philosophy, higher education and ideas.

Venus in Sagittarius people tend to love all of these things, even though they’re prone to engage in heated debates about them. They tend to be spontaneous, adventurous and happy-go-lucky.

They say what’s on their mind and in their heart — often at the most inappropriate times! They’re know for putting their feet in their mouths, but are usually very good-natured. They can laugh at themselves and can take a joke, as long as it’s told without malice.

Venus in Scorpio — Sep 23, 2016 — Oct 18, 2016

Hugh Jackman - Venus in Scorpio

Venus enters Scorpio on September 23, 2016 at 10:51 UT (2:51 pm ET). Venus is said to be debilitated in Scorpio, as it is the sign opposite its natural ruler (Taurus). Venus in Scorpio is said to be in its fall.

There are some disadvantages to having a planet in “fall” or “detriment,” due more to societal norms and expectations than anything else. As such, Venus is not particularly comfortable in Scorpio, where the naturally romantic, self-indulgent, partnership-oriented archetype struggles to express itself through the intense, passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpionic filter.

Even so, there are a lot of wonderfully unique attributes associated with this placement, as evidenced by some of the examples listed herein.

Venus is the “love” planet, representing how you give and receive love and affection, as well as what you find aesthetically appealing. What’s attractive to you? And how do you express love and affection?

Venus also rules “money” as in earning potential and income, as in how you handle money, what you spend it on, and whether you’re attracting it to you or seeing it run through your fingers like water.

Venus in Libra — Aug 30, 2016 — Sept 23, 2016

Venus enters Libra on August 30, 2016 at 2:06 UT (August 29 at 10:06pm EDT).

Venus is Libra’s natural ruler, and is thus happiest and most comfortable there (along with Taurus, the sign it co-rules, and Pisces, the sign of its exaltation).

Venus in Libra is all about peace, love and understanding. It’s about compromising and accommodating the needs of others, in order to preserve harmony and balance in our own lives.

This extends to relationships of course, as Venus is the “love” planet and Libra is the relationship and partnership sign.

When Venus enters Libra, relationship issues come to the forefront, no matter what sign it’s in in our own natal charts.

We find ourselves dealing with relationship issues, which come to the forefront at this time and provide us with the opportunity to work out the kinks in them.

While this most often refers to romantic relationships, it can extend to business partnerships as well.

As Libra is related to balance and harmony, the idea is to find some middle ground where you and your partner can meet. It’s about give and take, compromise, cooperating and sharing.

Venus in Virgo — Aug 5, 2016 — Aug 29, 2016

Venus in Virgo: Mila Kunis

Venus enters Virgo on August 5, 2016 at 16:26 UT (11:26 am EDT). Venus is said to be debilitated in Virgo, as it is the sign opposite Venus’ natural Exaltation, Pisces.

There are some disadvantages to having a planet in “fall” or “detriment,” due more to societal norms and expectations than anything else. As such, Venus is not particularly comfortable in Virgo, where the naturally romantic, self-indulgent, partnership-oriented archetype struggles to express itself through the analytical, perfectionistic, service-oriented Virgo filter.

Venus in Leo — July 12, 2016 — Aug 5, 2016

Venus enters Leo on July 12, 2016 at UT 06:33 UT (1:33 am EDT). Venus is the “love” planet, representing how you give and receive love and affection, as well as what you find aesthetically appealing.

Venus also rules “money” as in earning potential and income, as in how you handle money, how you spend it, and whether you’re attracting it to you or seeing it run through your fingers like water.

By transit, Venus brings emphasis to these areas of your life — for better or worse, depending on the sign, house placement and relationship the transit forms to planets in your natal chart.

In general Venus transits are favorable. They’re sociable, cooperative and harmonious. They can bring in new love interests or reignite a spark with someone you already have history with.

They can also bring in money. These are usually not major windfalls; they’re more along the lines of unexpected gains, gifts from loved ones or money saved through fortuitous shopping. Speaking of shopping Venus transits correlate to a desire to spend money too.

Venus in Cancer — June 17, 2016 — July 12, 2016

Venus enters Cancer on June 17, 2016 at 20:38 UT (3:38pm EDT). Venus in Cancer natives are known for being sensitive, affectionate and loving.

This is a very feminine archetype. Even the strongest, most independent and assertive Venus in Cancer people — both male and female — are apt to express themselves in traditionally feminine ways, nurturing, caring for and comforting others.

When it comes to relationships, they tend to mother their partners as well. They may be passive or indirect in the early stages, but this is because they have a lot of fears — mostly regarding rejection and abandonment . But once settled into serious, committed, long-term relationships, they shine at doing what they do best: being emotionally supportive and nurturing.

Venus in Cancer people are also very sentimental. They have fantastic memories and never forget a birthday or an important / meaningful anniversary. They also rarely forget a slight.

While not all of them come from happy or functional families, most of them are aware of how their childhoods and family dynamics have shaped them. This is particularly evident in their relationships.

Venus in Gemini — May 24, 2016 — June 17, 2016

Megan Fox

Venus enters Gemini on May 24, 2016 at 10:44 UT (5:44 am EDT). Venus is the esoteric ruler of Gemini, as the catalyst through which the concept of “Love” first emerges — through connecting, interacting and most importantly communicating with others.

Venus in Gemini people are charming and flirtatious. They’re playful, light-hearted and charismatic with a natural appreciation for the give-and-take that goes hand-in-hand in any relationship. They’re insatiably curious, wanting to know everything there is to know about the people they’re interested in, and as long as there’s always something left to learn that interest doesn’t wane.

But since Gemini is a mutable sign, there’s also a tendency toward restlessness and boredom. They like to keep things moving and to not get bogged down in tedium or routine. They’re easily distracted and require a lot of mental and verbal stimulation in order to maintain their interest.

When it comes to romance, Venus in Gemini people are said to run hot and cold. They’re notorious for ardently pursuing whatever they have their hearts set on one moment and detaching from it completely the next.

Venus in Taurus — April 30, 2016 – May 24, 2016

Venus in Taurus - Liv Tyler

Venus enters April 30, 2016 at 1:35 UT (April 29, 2016 at 8:36 pm EDT).  Venus is exalted in Taurus, meaning that it is in its own ruling sign, that it’s comfortable in that sign, and that it is likely to express its highest most powerful vibration there.

If you were lucky enough to have been born with this placement, you probably have a natural appreciation for the beauty and the arts, for love and romance, and for anything that stimulates the 5 senses: a breath-taking sunset for example, a soft ocean breeze, a haunting melody, fine wine, gourmet foods, exotic spices, fragrant flowers, etc. The list goes on and on.

While they do appreciate luxury, Venus in Taurus people prefer comfort over extravagance and natural over synthetic.

They’re earthy, practical and sensuous. They long for stability and consistency and will shy away from drama in relationships. They’re better at balancing head and heart than most signs, most often leaning toward sensible choices that don’t involve risk.
