Three of Fire

Three of Fire

As Venus turns retrograde in Virgo today (and Uranus turns retrograde in Aries tomorrow), you may be thinking about how your own unique contributions to the world set you apart from everyone else.

It may be a matter of rising above your current situation and getting an overview of all the opportunities that are out there for you.

The Three of Fire — the beautiful Japaridze Tarot’s version of the Three of Wands — is all about expanding your horizons and finding ways to make an imprint on the world around you.

Chances are good you’ve already started to hit your stride. This is a hallmark of the Three of Fire. Having completed the initial stages of something — having “lifted off” — and seeing that there are vast new horizons to explore.

This card is all about enterprise and innovation. Bringing something new and different to the table and doing it in a way that’s never been seen before.

It’s about building a better mousetrap and setting your sites on distant horizons. What can I do with what I already have to make a difference in the world? What do I have to offer that will bring the greatest reward? These are the questions you want to be asking yourself right now.

The Three of Fire encourages you to push past your limitations and expand your horizons. It will mean stepping outside of your comfort zone and exploring uncharted territories. And while you may run into pitfalls or have to take detours along the way, know that these are often blessings in disguise that can open up a whole new world of possibilities.

Three of Wands

Three of Wands

Jupiter trines Uranus today, bringing with it unlimited potentials for reaching toward your highest goals and aspirations.

The Three of Wands — this version from the beautiful Cosmic Tarot — is a card of opportunity and personal expansion. It encourages us to look at what we’ve already established as we plan our next moves.

In this case the woman in the card has somehow manifested three lotus blossoms in the middle of the desert. She raises her arms to the Sun in gratitude and prayer as she meditates on how far she’s come. The three wands that are placed in the earth around her provide structure and stability, while she ponders her next move.

This woman is graceful and calm. She appears to be blossoming, just like the lotus blossoms growing out of the sand before her. She’s aware of what she’s created thus far, and knows that it will take a combination of serenity and confidence to keep her vision alive.

This is not the time for her (or you) to sit back and rest. It’s important to keep working toward manifesting your goals.

As with all Threes, the Three of Wands encourages you to network and interact with others. Whether this means sharing your ideas, communicating your visions, or accepting offers of assistance, there are always advantages to joining forces with like-minded people.

Although the woman in this card is very much alone. She doesn’t appear lonely and she’s aware of the life sprouting around her, even in the desert. There are also birds flocking toward her in the sky and shadowy figures moving toward her in the distance.

The Three of Wands encourages you to push past your limitations and expand your horizons. It will mean stepping outside of your comfort zone and exploring uncharted territories. And while you may run into pitfalls or have to take detours along the way, know that these are often blessing in disguise that can open up a whole new world of possibilities.

ARIES: Justice

This month you may find it necessary to make decisions that are fair and just — without regard your personal leanings. The Justice card refers to a conscious awareness of cause and effect, action and consequence, right and wrong.

It may be a situation that you’re personally involved in, such as a relationship that tugs at your heartstrings but is not in alignment with your principles. Or you may be asked to mediate a disagreement among friends. It’s not about choosing sides. It’s about being able to tap into the “truth” objectively and impartially.

In this version of the card — from the Sun & Moon Tarot — a butterfly girl hovers in the sky behind a scale. She strives to maintain her balance using the blade of her giant sword. A flaming heart is weighed against a single white feather in the scales.

A yin / yang symbol is at the top of the scales and the Hebrew letter “tet” is at the base. Among other things, the tet  symbol refers to wisdom and truth.

The Justice card speaks of balancing head against heart and desire against logic. While we all strive to keep these areas in sync, it’s a constant and precarious battle.

Sometimes the heart rules and sometimes it’s the head. But if you rise above the situation (like the girl in the card) you’ll be better equipped to achieve perspective. Sometimes we have to get some altitude in order to see things from outside of our earthly attachments.

The Justice card encourages you to seek the answers to your most pressing concerns through objectivity and conscious awareness. If you rely too much on head, heart will suffers and vice versa. But if you can find a way to balance the two, the truth will reveal itself in the end.

Nine of Wands

ARIES: Nine of Wands

This is the month you may feel like you’re starting to get your mojo back, after a period of frustration, boredom, dormancy or inertia.

The Nine of Wands refers to a period of uncertainty and hesitation that comes after you’ve given what feels like your ALL and still haven’t seen the results for your efforts.

You may have been frustrated with the lack of progress or worse, come “this close” to completing your journey only to find another roadblock ahead of you. This is very similar to the frustrations and impediments that abound when you perhaps haven’t made clear plans for what you wish to do. You’re saying “go go go” while the Universe is saying “no no no.”

The reds, oranges and golds in this version of the card — from the Mary-el Tarot — combined with the ferocious tiger and the flame in the woman’s hand, speak of the need for fearless restraint. The woman takes the tiger by the tail and raises the flame high in the air in a symbol of victory.

If you look at it from an evolutionary perspective, you may be better able to understand why you’ve been forced to step back and re-evaluate your needs.

Perhaps the setbacks you’ve encountered along the way have been more than just setbacks. Perhaps they’ve been lessons in disguise. With Mercury turning retrograde in your area of communication this month what better time do you have than to “plan, plan, plan.”

Three of Wands

Three of Wands

Today you want to be looking at opportunities that are presenting themselves for you to expand your horizons.

The Three of Wands says you’ve already made strides toward accomplishing important goals. And you’re probably also already starting to see the fruits of your labors.

Whether this is related to a projects in the workplace or momentum you’ve gained in your personal relationships, you can take a moment to pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

But it’s also time to look toward the future. The Three of Wands — like all Threes — acts as a bridge between the tension and uncertainty of the Twos and the structure and stability of the Fours.

With that in mind you want to think about how far you’ve come as you plan your next move.

The bobcat in this card is perched on a ledge looking out over the vast horizons before him. The Sun rises in the distance. He may have taken a moment to pause and reflect — over how far he’s come — but a new day is dawning and with it the energy and enthusiasm to keep moving forward.

You may have recently discovered that you’ve found your life’s purpose. Or you may be just now acting on aspirations that you were too afraid to reach for in the past. Either way, this card speaks of a new burst of inspiration, a second wind, and the confidence with which to see it through.

The Three of Wands encourages you to push past your limitations and expand your horizons. It will mean stepping outside of your comfort zone and exploring uncharted territories. And while you run into pitfalls or have to take detours along the way, know that these are often blessing in disguise that can open up a whole new world of possibilities.

Nine of Pentacles

ARIES: Nine of Pentacles

The Nine of Pentacles implies success and satisfaction with career and financial matters. However, take a closer look at the imagery in this particular card and you may find that all is not as it seems. I’m not saying you should not feel more than a bit smug with your achievements but you may find you have an “itch” to try something different.

Do you find thoughts keep coming into your mind that you want to change something? Perhaps your job, your beliefs on success and what it personally means to you? If you look at this card you will see 6 pentacles are on one side (left hand side) and 3 pentacles on the other (right hand side).

Take a sneaky look on the ground under the 6 pentacles — this version from the Golden Universal Tarot — and you will see a snail so perhaps the accumulation of your wealth, knowledge and security is actually making you feel as if your life is moving at a slower pace (a snail’s pace).

Now look at the side of the card with the 3 pentacles and you’ll notice an almost mirrored version of the lefthand side… the difference being there is less on the right hand side (3 pentacles) which implies if you make a decision to go in a different direction you will have less in some ways but you may actually gain in other ways.

Perhaps the biggest indicator in this imagery that speaks out but is easily overlooked is the direction of the foot on the ground… the little bird whispers in your ear to make a change and almost without knowing it you are turning your foot to begin a new direction in your life.

And now here is a conundrum for you… I have not given out which foot I am interpreting as being the one that is “changing directions”… that part of the equation is up to you…. listen with your heart for the answers.

Three of Wands

 Three of Wands

Today is going to be a good day to be thinking about progress you’ve made on goals you have underway as you plan your next moves.

You may feel the need to take a breather, or “rise above” it all in order to get an overview of how much you’ve already accomplished.

The Three of Wands refers to steps that have been taken and seeds that have been planted that are now starting to produce results. You can look at how far you’ve come and use that as a springboard for advancing your goals.

You can see the work in progress aspect in this card with the chain of flowers the angel figure strings together from the top of her perch. While it’s clear this has been an ongoing project, it looks like she’s hitting her stride now with the altitude she’s attained.

That’s one important feature of the Three of Wands — setting things in motion so that the work you’ve already done keeps building on itself while you expand your horizons. In doing so your project (or your goal, or your relationship) begins to take on a life of its own — much like the chain of flowers in this card.

The Three of Wands refers to creativity and adaptability as much as it does to acumen. It’s about seizing the opportunities that come your way and then incorporating them into your plans.

Notice the fox sniffing at the flowers in the background. This could spell trouble and there’s a chance our little angel will have to rethink some of her goals. But if she’s put enough of forethought into laying her foundations, she won’t have any trouble turning incidents like these to her advantage.

Three of Wands

Three of Wands

Today as Jupiter goes retrograde you may be looking back on the events in your life that have led you to where you are today.

And while the Three of Wands is definitely more about “looking ahead,” you’d be well served to take into consideration the efforts you’ve already made toward meeting your long term goals.

Retrograde planets emphasize the internalization (retrograde) of the planets’ specific energies  — in this case Jupiter, which ties into personal evolution, spirituality and higher mind awareness. So the focus will be more about inner awareness and growth and than external processes.

And yet it doesn’t mean going it alone. As you can see from the images in this card there are always those who’ve inspired us, supported us and have had our backs along the way.

The Three of Wands speaks of seeing results from efforts we’ve put into a project or goal and being inspired enough from that progress to keep on keeping on. It tells us that we’re on the right path and that all we’ve done so far as not been for naught.

With this in mind, the Jupiter retrograde ties in as it reminds us to look back at not only where we’ve come from but the progress we’ve made along the way.

I love how there’s so much communal support in this version of the card. There are references to help and assistance (the falcon steadying the telescope for the rhino while he postulates on some important trivia) as well as standing on the shoulders of giants (the beetle and the bug).

This is what you want to keep in mind today while you think about your next moves. Jupiter retro makes for a good time to revisit, review and revise what you’ve already accomplished — and that includes acknowledging those who have made it all possible — before setting about to plan your next move.

The central figure in this card is a young woman looking out over the vast horizons before here. The night sky is alive with fireflies and stars. A crescent moon — waxing, which relates to growth and potential — shines down on her from above.

Look at the three wands placed neatly behind her. They’re there within arms’ reach, but her focus is on what lies ahead. Her trusty companion sits by her side, and is equally immersed in the landscape before them.

Tree of Staffs

Three of Staffs

Today’s card, the Three of Staffs from the Alchemical Tarot, is all about preparation, expectation and anticipation — and pretty much in that order. This is the “nothing ventured, nothing gained” card, especially with respect to your long-term goals.

It’s not about standing on the sidelines and waiting for your ship come in. It’s about laying the groundwork for an important project or venture, and the satisfaction that comes with seeing initial results.

The Three of Staffs — Wands in some decks — speaks of sailing off toward new horizons and moving away from what has felt comfortable and routine.

It involves taking risks and being willing to put yourself on the line — knowing with every fiber of you’re being that you’re headed in the right direction.

If you look at the imagery in this version of the card, you can see that it’s not going to be all smooth sailing. You may come upon some choppy waters which will either propel you forward or cause you to capsize.

But this small boat is sturdy and seems to have no problem navigating toward its destination. Notice the red sail — action, energy, movement — and the small “eye” on the hull. Also note that one of the three staffs serves as a mast, reminding us that the boat couldn’t sail without it (or you).

Ask the Tarot: Second Time Around

Second Time Around

A client wants to know about a relationship that ended a few years back. It started, faltered and then fizzled out over the course of a year, without ever fully developing into the serious, committed relationship that my client was interested in.

Since January, their relationship has been “back on” again, after several different transitions (from periods of not speaking at all to attempts to maintain the connection as a friendship only, with a few ‘casual’ hookups in between).

Now though things seem to be moving forward again. And my client — Melissa — is curious about how this plays out in their cards and charts.

Three of Wands

Three of Wands

Today may be quite busy for you and among the hustle and bustle you find yourself a part of you may lose sight of what is important to yourself.

Look at the energy of those flames as they lick around you and set you on course to being so busy that you don’t know where to start. You may find you start one thing, stop it and start something else.

Nothing seems to be finished and you are even at a loss as to what your next step should be.  It may be a good time to sit down, gather your thoughts around you and write down a list of what you wish to accomplish today and then slowly and methodically work your way through it.

Then again, with the energy in this card you may find you cannot bear to do something so slow and tedious and just rush in again only to find yourself back at square one… “square one” being… where do you start again?

There is also a tendency for you to be reliving memories from your past and as you try to go about your daily chores unwanted thoughts  arise that further take you from your goals.  As I was writing this I decided to check what was going on astrologically today and this is what I found.
